Avatar Taylor (Worm/A:TLA)

Good to see the story (and you) alive! And that's a lot of words there.

Editorial note: Taylor got Dinah's message about the four good targets at two different places.

If you want some stuff to do for filler, you could try to get her to learn how sense her other elements, it wouldn't be as good as using earth but if you could get good enough at sensing air flows or the water in the air/water from the body or body heat, you would not only be able to use the element better but it'd help with detecting other enemies, and with the multitasking of queen administrator it'd eventually get delegated to a background process like what's happened to earth sense
not sure if you've forgotten but a decent way to progress with firebending could be to go all taserhands on some mofos
all the same this filler stuff isn't as exciting but as long as some stuff actually happens that might be relevant later I'm enjoying it, and if you really need to force a time skip you could give Taylor a mini coma and skip a week or so of background action

Nope. Dinah was still talking to Taylor, there were new messages from her. She just read off the addresses from the older ones. Should probably tweak it to make that more clear.

I think what was on my mind back then was that Taylor saw the 'four of them' message, then came back to the message with specifics later, because lots of typing to get there. Then I changed my mind, and maybe didn't fix it properly. Problems for tomorrow.

Already on the tree.

For what it's worth, I really enjoyed this chapter. About the only thing that jumped out at me as odd was the PRT officer, who seemed kind of ... personality-less, I guess? Even that might just be a me thing (they were only even on screen for a few lines), and literally everything else was great.

I hope your situation improves! Just ... hmm ... remember that we're not paying you to write. As far as we are (or, at least, I am) concerned, the default state is no story at all, and anything more than that is a bonus. The upshot is that I don't think it makes sense to describe chapters as being "worth the wait" or not; any chapter is worth the wait (as long as it's not, like, actively painful to read, I suppose). Your work is well-written and very fun to read, and I look forward to more of it in whatever time frame suits you. Thank you for writing this story and letting us read it.

The second time the reply came up was:
"I dug out my work phone. Sure enough, there was a reply from Dinah. "She says four of the places are good." I quickly rattled them off."
She'd already seen the reply. That tracks with the message only arriving once, but it's still weird to narratively remark that way on the presence of a previously seen reply.

*Generic reporter*"So you seem to have a strange obsession with opening fights with a nut shot, any particular reason for that?"
Taylor: "Indeed I have decided my opening move shall forever be hitting as many weak points as possible"
Reporter:"what's youre limit on ball busting so far?"
Taylor:"yes"
*screams heard a few blocks away*
Taylor: "ignore that It's just a mugger"

Sorry to hear about your troubles @Dalxein, I hope everything works out for you. I do want to just check on whether this was or wasn't the last and final chapter of the story? Just the latest after some severe writing blocks due to various other setbacks is my understanding, but it wasn't super clear in the author's notes. Regardless this just got put into my re-read list, definitely looking forward to reading this again in a bit. I'll probably start later today.

I said I would fix it tomorrow, and I have fixed it, now that it is tomorrow.

I've never considered AT dead. Even if I have to struggle through and do something like the 100 words a week or whatever average I managed this time, I'm still going to keep working on it, and updates will happen eventually. There are popular stories that get by on a lot less than that, and I'm trying not to feel too bad about it.

I'm going to skim over the story again (because a full read is... bluh. Last night my brain kept screaming "This is the early stuff, yes I know I want to rewrite the intro bits. Yes I know what happens. This part I've read and re-read like fifty times. Why are you making me do this again!?" and it wasn't very productive.) But once I actually get done with that, dig out my notes and plans... Next time should be the team meeting where the group actually gets their name. (and some shenanigans happen in the background) It's the stuff I kept wanting to write instead of this.

Then the day after that is the Indie recruit meetup, and the talks with Photon Mom.

The day after that is when Taylor has to shake Kaiser's hand and pretend she doesn't know half the people at the fancy board meeting she's in are neo-Nazis.

There's some stuff to thread together between these things, and I'm a lot fuzzier on what my plans were for after that, (Besides SURPRISE MALE SUITOR) but that's what the re-read and digging are for. I'm very excited for the bits to come, I was just beating my head on this betweener update, convincing myself it was trash and no one would like it. So far the response has been about 99% positive, to my shock and glee.

TL;DR: Pretty sure the only way AT dies is if I go first.

Sounds great, I just wanted to know if this situation was what I thought it was. A status updates every 3-4 months even if it's just a quick few sentences that shit has gone wrong in other parts of your life or your computer broke or something, but that you're still alive and intending to continue the story would be greatly appreciated though.

I'm pretty sure I've never seen anybody embody their profile picture more than the vibes I get from reading this, its all "I don't want to get out of bed, but I shall get the job done because of spite"

That's mostly what the Discord has been for, honestly. Complaining about life at least every other week, even if there's no progress. Or reporting some progress, if there is any. Spoiler section gets more details.

Feels kind of like... just the occasional author status isn't really adding much to the thread, for those 'check this box if you're sure' sort of things. Like it'd get flagged and locked for pointless bumps after a while.

Going to try to not leave the threads hanging that long again, but I can't promise anything.

There's a reason I've been using it for at least a decade.
Honestly if I knew who the original artist was, I'd be tempted to drop a tip or something, but I'm terrible at searching those sorts of things out.
I wonder who it will be? Could it be Theo?
Not gonna spoil it, even if people will probably see it coming.

You could try you're luck with google image, not sure how it works but i messed with it once on accident while trying to find a way to save it directly to my iPad without screenshot

Really good to see you back at it, Dalxein! Been reading some of the stuff you've done in the Inheritance thread, but this one has some really interesting unique elements (pardon the pun) to it.

It's also one of a very few pieces that've inspired me to write something in turn.

And, well, on that note, this...
The day after that is when Taylor has to shake Kaiser's hand and pretend she doesn't know half the people at the fancy board meeting she's in are neo-Nazis.
...has prompted an omake that I've just written up. I'll go over and post it in the SB quest thread for sake of keeping track. Don't know how/if I can quote across, though.

I just realized that Amy is a living bender. She bends all living things. Yes.

Also uhhh if it's not too much trouble @Dalxein would you be will to update the skill tree information post? Also for the team thresdmark, is Vicky going to be added even if she is going half and half?

I don't think there's anything in the other thread that isn't here already. I only update the tree in chunks, and it's only been four days in story since I did so (EDIT: After a quick check, there has been zero training actions taken in that period. It's all considered event or fight exp). Pretty sure I was just going to let the current training focus finish out, then put up another vote.

Pretty sure I was waiting to add Vicky to the sheet until we dealt with some shardnanigans... Literally tomorrow, in-story.

But I can see about maybe throwing something together and then updating it later. Bit busy right now, we'll see when laundry's done and I'm back home.
