The waitress walks up, and you order a steak and egg sandwich. It was one of the more expensive options, but you figured that you would be making more money tomorrow anyways and that you need something filling to ensure top performance on the system scan.

Uiharu ordered a shake, and Saten ordered a salad.

"So, why did you get a shake? Wouldn't you want something more filling for dinner?" You ask Uiharu. Saten laughs.

"She always gets dessert after working at Judgement." Uiharu's face is turning red, but before she can respond, Saten adds: "And before too!"

"I…I just like the desserts here! What's wrong with that? I eat so much at judgement anyways that… I don't really need to eat a meal here." Uiharu defended. You and Saten giggle more. "So… You were busy today, weren't you Yuriko? Want to talk about what happened today?" She's obviously changing topics, but you're not going to let her change the focus to you.

"I'd rather not talk about my dad right you." You admit, partially because it's the truth and partially because you want to learn things from Uiharu instead. "I did meet this Misaka person that Shirai seems to like. She didn't seem too nice to me. She was rather… cold."

"Yeah, I don't know what happened there. That was weird." Uiharu says.

"What happened? Did I miss something juicy" Saten asked in a ravenous look in her eyes.

"Yeah…. I had a busy day." You say with a sigh. "I found out a bit about my father, got in a fight, met some nice girls from Tokiwadai, met this 'Misaka" person, and learned some self-defense. I met Misaka when I was scouting the city for some practice space, but my from my interaction with her, she seemed almost… robotic."

"That's strange." Uiharu replied. "Shirai always talks about how nice and kind Misaka is, or as she refers to her, as sissy." Uihari's face lit up. "Oh yeah! Shirai invited me to meet Misaka tomorrow. Do you want to come me?" You feel compelled to say yes, but Saten seems less than enthusiastic.

"You say that, but maybe Yuriko's right. This Misaka person's a level 5. She probably treats anyone who doesn't go to that fancy rich girl's school like trash because she thinks she's better than the rest of us." Saten grunted.

"Hey! She can't be that bad, right?" Uiharu panicked. "She must have just been really worried about whatever was going on in that train yard, right?" You start to believe that Saten has a point. You searched that train yard for a good ten minutes, but there wasn't anything there. Clearly, she was just being mean to you because she looks down on you. You frown. This kind of thinking isn't going to get you any new friends, and you might need a level 5's help to take down your father. "Come on guys. You should come with me tomorrow. I'm sure that she'll understand."

"I'll think about it." You reply. The food arrives, and everyone digs in to avoid any more awkward conversation about other people. Uiharu's slurping was annoying, but you don't say anything.

Other than small talk, no one really says much else. Saten's outburst about level 5s killed the conversation. On your way out, she apologizes to Uiharu for making assumptions. Uiharu accepts it with a smile. They invite you back to Saten's apartment, but it's pretty late in the evening, and curfew will be in an hour. Of course, nobody checks you in, so it's not like curfew actually matter for you.You might want to get a good night's sleep for tomorrow though. If you're tired for the system scan, you might not perform as well.

Chapter 3:01 The System Scan
Chapter 3:1 The System Scan

"Bye! See you guys after the system scan!" You say while waving. After they reply, you return to your residence. Takahashi wasn't there, and you get ready for bed. Getting to be early would probably help for the test, and you don't want to take it while you're tired. After getting out of the shower, Takahashi walks in. She was out, eating this Kita. As she explains, that what she does most nights. Kita's still pretty shaken from Takahashi's disappearance, so it's no wonder how she spent the rest of her day. She asks about your day, and you list off all the things that you did today, including the fight you got into, that strange Misaka girl, the construction site, and meeting up with Uiharu and Saten. You leave out the self defence class and most of what you found out about your father.

"Anything else? " She asks. Shit. She probably can sense how you feel right now, and what do just described doesn't justify the rage towards your father that's temporarily buried. You pretend to think, and consider how much information to disclose about your father. You want to make sure that you don't mention the lab, because she doesn't… "I'm sorry for pressing, but it just seems like you have something that's bothering you. It's your father, isn't it?" You nod. "Just remember that I'm here to talk about it if you need someone, ok?" She says calmly.

The sun's set by now, but it's not really that late and you're not really tired. You pull out the final magazine that you checked out from the library and read it. It's called Journal of the American Chemical Society. You get pretty far into it before you fall asleep, but you felt like it gave you some new ideas about ways to approach your power. Takahashi's still awake when you turn in.

Buff Added: Adv. On next molecular roll

July 16th

You wake up, and it's really early. It's probably because you went to bed so early, but you don't mind because you want to be fully awake for the System scan. You get ready for your day, and before you go, you consider waking up Takahashi. You decide that the best thing to do is to let her sleep, and her alarm will get her up when she needs to. You head off to school early to ask questions to the people setting it up.

You learned a lot about the tests from the proctors. The System Scan is a way to measure the strength of esper powers, and in particular be able to compare the 'strength' of someone's power to another. They do so using probability and quantitative measurements. Because of you physicality of your ability, you're be measured on the Mass, Range of effectiveness, medium, and force. They said that you couldn't provide a practice object prior to the test.

And that test was really stupid. Like seriously!?! Why would you be a mere Level 2! You're more powerful than that, and you know it! It's not fair that they used the telekinetic scale to measure you! Sure, those guys might be able to lift the about same weight and at same distance, but why the hell should your ability to change the shape not be accounted for? Seriously, it's pure lunacy.

You notice Saten and Uiharu on the way out of school. Tomorrow is the last day of school before summer break. While Saten takes a look under Uiharu's skirt, you consider your options for today. You could go with Uiharu to meet Misaka, and see if she treats everyone like she treated you. Or you could head off on your own to snoop around the Telepathic Lab. Better yet, you could go back in and file a formal complaint about the system scan, and demand a re-test with fairer standards.

What? Molecular control is totally different from telekinesis!

[X] This is nonsense! Do everything necessary to complain and get a retest!

I'm assuming this is a form, and angry noises in someone's general direction.

It's like the lowest ranked level 5, they got no idea HOW to measure it so they're at a complete loss.

She doesn't have anything else really special to show off. We never managed to get any deliberate votes passed or get lucky on random locations to do anything more exotic than just shape manipulation.

Quick! We should get a signature move! Like the railgun! Except it has do with manipulating pure matter!

It's absolutely unfair. On a telekinetic scale, this is a low level ability, but this isn't telekinesis.
