At The Edge of the Dream - Inheritance Front

Charles, the Unstoppable
Plumes of black smokes comes out of the draconic creature's mouth, yet it's not enough to cover its head, much less it's body.
It's with some of the smoke wandering a bit away from Apollo towards Charles that has his tries to wave it away from his head that uhh...let's say a slight bit of purple static crackles from his hand and in the next moment...

Well, Charles' entire body proceeds to get pushed backward, where he then panics in turning his body to balance to not fall on his back, which only makes the resulting series of actions even more jank. About to hit the ground, he proceeds to smack it instinctively with another bit of that static crossing over his hand as he proceeds to launch up into a flip before he barely manages to land the chair onto its legs as Charles just went through a messy experience in his first time of 'flight'.

He slouches further into his seat more than prior with a sigh since that took the wind out of him doing all of a sudden. Although, it does get him a bit more of an idea of what he can pull off...even if that whole thing just happened within a second in front of everybody...'Fuck, so much for not showing anything I can do.'

Charles, the Unstoppable
Marie barely holds in a laugh at Charles' impromptu acrobatics. "You alright there? That looked daunting."
"Ever felt the experience of running upstairs blinded and attempted to go up a step that didn't exist? That about sums up how I feel right now, except it's just my arms that hurt. Also, your attempt of not laughing is lacking."

The stare he gives Marie is...okay it's not any different than usual, but he's stated his disapproval of laughing at the situation. He looks to the boss lady and just gives his vote to hopefully get on with this sooner rather than later. @Atma "Fantasy."

Genuine question. ...Also, I have seen this power in action for approximately five seconds and I already want to munchkin the hell out of it. ...the visual effects look like I've seen them somewhere before, but damn if I can't really place them yet. I'm sure it'll come to me later. But yeah if you want someone to throw ideas at you and see what sticks..." She trails off, leaving the offer implicit.

Jessica turns her attention over to Marie specifically. "Well, you were expected, Marie. Though I really can't fault you for going with Taylor." Jessica then turns her attention back to their host before continuing to speak. "But, I think I'm going to be going with something possibly a little different. Something to balance out the seriousness of a fallen angel and Kryptonian. I... Am going with Waifus. For my first... Why not Satellizer L. Bridget? With something sci-fi as my vote." As she finishes talking, Jessica tosses the coin gently towards Miss Jordan.

Waifus? Not my first choice of theme for sure, but there are cool ones around, with nice powers and skills. I don't, however, recognize her first choice of inheritance.

"Of course, I will be sure not to put anything in this room to flames." Apollo says cheekily.

Of course, the Changeling transformations are some of the best, capable of mimicking all manners of creatures, aliens, and even fellow Daemons, its patron God being the exception. But what is its limit? Especially when weakened if what she said about growth is right.

Now then, what kind of moves does a Charizard knows that I could try to see how 'complete' my impersonation is.

Smokescreen. Relatively harmless, makes for a good prank, and should be complex enough to test what I am capable of with transformations. Ooh, a magic trick perhaps.

As Apollo readies to exhale a cloud of black smoke, they mentally prepare themself to shift back into their original form after the cloud covers them.

*cough* *cough* *cough*

Plumes of black smokes comes out of the draconic creature's mouth, yet it's not enough to cover its head, much less it's body.

'Shame. Looks like it's possible, but require some … growth first. Thoughts for later. Let's see what everyone else is going to do.'

Fascinating to see the form of an actual Charizard, a glimpse of the supernatural in action, though I'm not the biggest fan of fire, and I find myself preparing my breath in case something goes wrong.

A smoke breath? So, a smokescreen? It was not as bad as I thought, but I end up using a bit of my own enhanced breath to shoo away stray bits of smoke from me. As it turns out, it's also pretty good at blowing away things, not only freezing them.

I slowly cover my face with my hand, not unlike a certain Starfleet captain, at what I can only describe as an epic failure. "Are you okay?" I ask, "Quite the acrobatics there." Electricity powers? Electricity-induced movement?

Marie barely holds in a laugh at Charles' impromptu acrobatics. "You alright there? That looked daunting."

"And I'm reminded of why bug control can be really strong," I remark at the pragmatism of the one referred to as Marie, "Good choice of inheritance, by the way."

At least my stuff are fairly straightforward. Hard to go wrong with a classic, right? I just hope we'd be in this together since a team can do more compared to being on our own. Though these people are still strangers to me, a few of which make me a tad guarded…

Charles snorts out a breath of air at the honest, but still snarky in context question. "I'd prefer if it didn't need to occur in the first place, but if it happens, just laugh into something that'd muffle the sound than try to hold it in. Holding anything in never works. As for whatever my power may look like, I'm about 90% sure purple lightning is a common theme just about all over media. Ya best not trying to figure what it might be, since it's almost always possible to be something entirely different."
"I'm fine by the by." He gives a slight wave to show his arms are still intact...either that or at least in a good enough state that he can power through whatever fractures are there and give a wave in spite of them. Hard to tell with him.

For once in the entire experience with Charles is there an emotion plastered on his face, and that emotion is confusion.

"...Is this another strange measurement from another world like football fields per .40 Calibur type of things? Also, gotta say something upfront, I'm guessing your inheritance came with a prepackaged guide on how it works, but I didn't. So don't expect me to mention what the hell I can do cuz even I ain't got all that figured out yet." He looks at his hand as he flexes his grip in and out as a small wisp of static dances around it for a bit.

Charles lied as naturally as he breathes. Technically, he's telling the truth in that he doesn't have the full guide on what his inheritance gave him (As shown by him flipping out earlier), but it gave him enough scraps in 'readable' info that he's got a 'good enough' idea of what he can do (Think giving a guide on fighting games as "Press these buttons to attack and these to do a special move" in its entirety. Very lacking for newbies, but for a vet like himself, that's plenty).

And the rest of the gap is more than filled by his pure instinct that's had the inheritance's info ingrained into. Every breath he takes to feel himself internally, he's getting more of a feel for what oddities he can pull out his sleeves (the only literal case having already been shown) and how much he can push himself further than before. A wicked mind that could take over a kingdom through tactics and spite now settles into his own to reinforce his instinctive mindset's natural course towards a correct lead to victory over all.

a functioning intelligence level that's off the scale of I.Q testing,
Marie barely hears the word "IQ" before tossing out an "IQ's bullshit, and best used as a measure of educational attainment as originally measured by some French dude per unit time. The modern subtests might measure useful skills - pattern recognition, memory retention, other such things - but there's no such thing as IQ. Humanity as a whole does not know how to quantify, let alone measure, intelligence. Perhaps ROB does, but if your character was dreamed into being by human minds...well. It's pretty impossible to simulate something measurably more intelligent than yourself, because if you could do that, you would already be that intelligent. If you're working with something immeasurably more intelligent than a human, you have options - 'all according to keikaku' being one of them - but I doubt that that boost is as potent as you think it is, unless it's changed the very pattern of your thoughts themselves. ...Has it? Oh, this is just so interesting... How broadly does your ability to conjure wealth spread? Can you conjure a wealth of knowledge, for example?" Marie has this positively scary inquisitive glee on her face for just a moment, before her expression resumes her apparently presently normal state of 'looking like she's thinking really hard about several things at once'.

"I see. Hey, Ms. Jordan, are we going to be fighting eachother as a specific challenge at any point?" (( @Atma ))

"As for whether I have a manual...well, I certainly have the intellectual knowledge of possible paths I could take, but the practical application of that knowledge is what I'm working on at the moment. The ancillary skills are coming along nicely, though."

I dunno, but that sounds a bit like arrogance to me. Also, that doesn't sound like Samael's thing, but rather, the devil's. No wonder the benefactor mentioned something about pride.

"In my case, all I can say is that I have at least some familiarity with the one I chose, and it feels kinda instinctual," I remark.

Hm… why does it feel as if it's something a forum person would say, articulating the various possibilities and applications of such powers? On one hand, I guess she has a point about the intelligence quotient. On the other hand, it's something I'm not currently able to verify by looking it up.

Maybe, maybe not, is all I'd say about the whole intelligence thing. Also, I have a feeling that it's less about how much one has and more about how one uses it.

"Which is impressive, to be sure. . . I don't want to break the economy."

"...I mean, on one hand, you're absolutely not going to break the economy like that, in just one shot, because that's a rounding error to some corporate budgets, but on the other hand, yeah, no, don't do it consistently, and be careful of how you do it too. Why are we worrying about economics, anyway? I don't think any of us are the type to get heavily involved in spreadsheet management simulators, and I further doubt our Audience is." You can hear her pronounce the Capital Letter, somehow.

With Jessica largely just following along at this point, her comments having been said in the elevator leaving her with little else to add. As it is, she's largely along for the ride for the time being, which really says a bunch about her she supposes. It's not that she doesn't really have anything to add, it's more that she doesn't really want to add anything or stand out. So Jessica listens to the other displaced people questioning the Twins and making comments. She listens to the remarks they make to each other. And she follows along when they finally go into the boss's room.

What greets everyone in the room leaves Jessica stunned. It's not every day that something like this just sort of happens. But, Jessica bids her time for the most part, moving to the table and taking a seat at random. She's in, there's no doubt in her mind about that much. Her... Life before could probably be better with some shenanigans, and if leaving just means walking out back where everything started, no time change, there's really nothing at all to lose. And, well, if she dies there's no great loss either. So why not roll the dice and take a gamble in some fashion?

Still, Jessica is much like the last person to arrive with her listening to a few others pick who they wanted. A Changling, or shapeshifter, someone likely to be pushed towards subterfuge or playing with people visually. A sound and solid choice depending on how the abilities are used. The fallen angel, if Jessica vaguely remembers the bible right, is another strong choice, but given the power growth over time... Possibly one that would take a very long time to actually get silly. A solid choice, but also a power hungry choice and possibly an indication of them as a person. Then it's Marie and her picking Taylor, which isn't a surprise at all and Jessica gives herself a mental pat on the back for guessing right. It's exactly what she expected and like the Changling, Taylor's a very powerful choice in the right situation, with the right powers. Moving on has Akuma being brought up and Jessica's got nothing. Really, basically nothing. The back and forth around it doesn't give her much either, so she writes that one off as 'unknown'. Then, lastly for the moment, is the last one to arrive. Picking Supergirl for a start is strong, there will hardly be anything that will truly hurt the Kryptonian even with the power reduction, Jessica figures. But it's another very potentially powerful choice and possibly a hint towards the last girl's other picks.

A few serious choices so far, ones that have plenty of power to them. The two ones that stand out most being Samael and Supergirl, though Jessica can't discount the Changeling even with the remark about being a dragon. Taylor... Taylor's a gamble. She can be strong and serious, or she can be utterly silly for her powers. But given Marie and what Jessica's learned about her so far, it's probably all 'strong' powers. That means that, well, Jessica should probably swing things in the opposite direction, in a way. All these likely serious choices... Well, it'd be fitting for Jessica to pick something that's more of a 'silly' choice.

The woman catches the coin and smiles while charging the coin. As she tosses the coin back to you she begins to speak... almost wistfully.

"We all need a bit of joy in our lives, a game or two to push back the weight of everything... haha, I think that's why my first was so... memorable... Still your power is now yours."

"We all need a bit of joy in our lives, a game or two to push back the weight of everything... haha, I think that's why my first was so... memorable... Still your power is now yours."

"Thank you, kindly." Jessica says as she catches the coin and holds it firmly. While the others banter amongst themselves, Jessica catches the coin tossed back towards her. As she lets the power contained within start to meld with her the changes she feels are fairly subtle, though Satellizer's abilities never really were... Extreme. Powerful in certain cases, sure, but fairly small in the grand scheme of things when there's a Kryptonian and fallen angel around. Regardless, once the powers have fully settled into Jessica she does a quick mental check to remember all that Satellizer can actually do and decides to try the easiest thing. It just requires her mentally thinking of a few certain things and visualizing how they all go together.

Outwardly there's a brief flash of light before what looks to be a fairly plain sheathed knife appears in Jessica's open hand. To those who may have very sensitive senses, or the ability to feel particles in the air move, there's a brief flurry of activity that's essentially invisible as particles are rapidly gathered to form that blade and the sheath. Jessica then gently places the sheath down upon the table before looking over the knife proper, it's how she envisioned it being which is to say it looks like a Ka-Bar knife. The metal, as far as she can tell, is exactly right too, the right feel and gleam to be a well polished durable steel. The handle likewise feels correct, a softer leather that's comfortable in her hand as she grips the hilt.

"Perfect..." Jessica idly says to herself before starting to toy with the blade, twirling it around her fingers as Satellizer's inherent skill with bladed weapons bubbles up to the surface of Jessica's mind. There's no fancy tricks involved, but the taller woman can't help but to try and push a little of Satellizer's speed into the movements as well, seeing just how fast she can go without activating another of the Pandora's abilities. If the knife seems to be just a blur as it moves around Jessica's fingers... That's surely just a trick of the light. Though it's about that time that Jessica turns her attention back to the room at large and eyes up the people around her again. Others are already starting to play a little with their powers, or make use of them in some way, so Jessica's not exactly alone in what she's doing. Though... Perhaps she's alone in how she's expressing what she can do.

"I think... That's all of us? Which means we can get started on the next part of this 'Game'." Jessica comments aloud, not to anyone directly but she's open if someone does reply. "Though, unless I'm mistaken, most people haven't actually voiced whether they want fantasy or sci-fi. So far it's two for fantasy and me for sci-fi, unless I missed someone."

If the knife seems to be just a blur as it moves around Jessica's fingers... That's surely just a trick of the light
Marie watches the blur of the knife dancing around Jessica's fingers with a focus that seems to have only previously showed up when she was attempting to munchkin the shit out of something, and her voice comes out soft, in just a bit of awe. "...Wow. I take it you know how to fight now, unlike in our earlier discussion...? I've got a little bit of CQC with my - inheritance? Seed? - but I don't think I have that much. ...Also, you and I are going to make so many wonderful things together when I get my next pick, I think, if that ability to just Make Things generalizes. I mean. If you want to. I'm not going to force you or anything, I don't think I could."

"Satellizer may, or may not have, been rather skilled with blades." Jessica says with a shrug and a slight smile. "But, you're basically right. She's a practical first choice, I think, what with her essentially being a Paladin." With that Jessica's hand toying with the knife abruptly stops and in a flurry of movement it's sheathed and held out towards Marie. "If you'd like, you can have it. It should stay until I dismiss it or it breaks, and it's not like I can't make more on a whim." The hilt is held out towards Marie and in Jessica's other hand yet another Ka-Bar knife materializes out of thin air. A casual expression of a single ability but one she's definitely liking, if only because there's so much use for it if one takes a moment to think about it.

...The few bees buzzing around in the room wobble for a second as Jessica offers the knife (and so do many insects elsewhere in the building). This clearly has no hidden meaning whatsoever and is not Marie attempting to hide emotional reactions in her swarm at all.

"I, yes, I think I would. I need to brush up on the skills I should have, anyway. Um. Thank you? This is very nice of you to do. ...Would you be interested in helping with the brushing up, if we're not too busy? Otherwise I'm sure it will come to me with sufficient combat." Marie gingerly reaches out - the legacy of a woman who has never touched anything more dangerous than butter knives peeking through the slowly germinating skillset Taylor Hebert developed - and puts the knife away somewhere, for the moment. (The knife is hidden wherever Bumblebee's stuff goes, as it happens.)

Charles stares at the weird motions of the knife in her hand before noting that mentally down. Melee probably isn't in call...but then again if Jessica can make knives at will, then ranged is even worse given essentially infinite knives to throw and that's bad. So, definetly a rush down target...

Oh, and add in either really good knife skills or really bullshit dexterity given that from experience, that is not what knife flipping looks like at normal speeds.
She's a practical first choice
He tsks as he sees how 1 to everybody so far in terms of how they choose how their coin is used up. Might not be the most well versed in literature, but come on, Charles didn't expect it to come one side him like this of all things. "Am I really the only one who didn't know enough about 'characters' to choose between 'Favorites' or 'The logical choice'?"
Marie gingerly reaches out - the legacy of a woman who has never touched anything more dangerous than butter knives peeking through the slowly germinating skillset Taylor Hebert developed - and puts the knife away somewhere, for the moment.
At least Marie hasn't really changed in terms of being used to knives, and given how knives are fairly low in terms of weapon danger meter...probably safe to say she isn't that used to melee period. Another blitz down target...

This thought makes Charles internally look on the markerboard in his head of strategies to take down the others if needed and sees that so far everybody is on 'If you just rush them, itll work out by itself'...Keen-minded does not mean he's tricky in every strategy. Heavy hit at rapid speeds is a time-trusted method of victory for good reason and there's little reason to deviate if not necessary.

Might not be the most well versed in literature, but come on, Charles didn't expect it to come one side him like this of all things. "Am I really the only one who didn't know enough about 'characters' to choose between 'Favorites' or 'The logical choice'?"
"...Please tell me you have read, watched, participated in, or had read to you at least a dozen works of fantasy ever. Please. Don't make me dig out the Strategist. ...wait, no, that wouldn't actually solve anything, or it'd just make worse problems, because it's hard to do nice things for Creation when you're a violently allergic-to-it void god, and I'd rather not be metaphysically Dying Of anything if I can help it...the Noble? No, not that either, too little personal mobility even if I could pull off some shenanigans with Treasure to solve the issue that'd prompt this move from what I recall of Flore...Eh. I don't know enough about that Taylor anyway. Or the rules. And fuck binding myself to the sevenfold law I can't remember the pretty flower name of. Leaving aside the cosmological implications of going with either. Anyway! Who's not voted on their choice of fantasy or sci-fi yet?"

"..................." An uncomfortable silence settles from Charles, and not just because he wants to be quiet like usual. "Does the Bible count as at least a dozen?" He hasn't read/watched/participated/or even had any piece of it read to him (Church wasn't a place he went to, nor did people cite tales for funerals. Family preferred song and tears for that than somebody else's story), but it's the only book he knows of to mention.

Oh and he is refusing to meet eye contact too. Even if he doesn't show many emotions in terms of body language, he's still got some cues to certain feelings still. At least, for now while relaxed/joking.
