At The Edge of the Dream - Inheritance Front

Apollo approached one of them. They will hold the special coin in front of them and see if these people react.

"Can I ask anything about this?" Apollo asked with a relaxed smile.
"Ah," The teller began before giving it a better look.

"This is a special chip awarded to specific VIP's according to the mandates of the owner. It would appear that that chip is a part of a set. I imagine that the owner wishes for you and several others to win them before meeting her."

There is a matching silver briefcase behind one of the cashiers' desks, from when Marie exchanged her cash for chips. Perhaps they'd even tell him whose briefcase it was, if he asked.
Charles

His search, however, bears fruit eventually as he spots such a case and briefly processing such, he makes his move to approach the cashier to start cashing in his winnings. (@Atma Warrior)

"Yo, I want to cash in." He then unceremoniously begins shoveling the piles of chips in his case out in front of the cashier, but in particular, Charles starts making small talk with the cashier as his chips are getting processed. He makes a show of briefly catching sight of the briefcase, with a short "Hoh?" before continuing to ask them further. "Do you happen to know who that bag belonged to?" In the brief moment of shoveling chips, he also makes sure to palm his gold chip. He isn't sure what cashing that one out would give, so he wants to ask beforehand just in case.

@Noob5674 One of the tellers perks up and responds by gesturing towards @TheBiggerFish. The teller notices you palming the Gold chip and states that chip is reserved for special guests and allows access to the top Floor.

"Ooooooh, that's a good omen for sure."

Roy rubbed his hands together excitedly. An okay enough start means more leeway to try for more. Of course if it was a poor start, he'd still be compelled to try making back what he'd lost from the start, gambling was insidious like that. But either way, it meant he was set to go another round.

And with his eyes on the metaphorical and literal prize, he spun once more.

The slot machine hits the coveted 7 7 7. The coins fill the receptacle but among them, is a special coin. A gold chip with heart wrapped in thorns. Without warning a voice makes itself known to you,

"Ah you are one of Ms. Jordan's special guests? Please when the others recieve their chips, head to the elevators for the 999th floor."
"One coffee with two sugars coming right up, then, as soon as I actually find coffee."

And off Marie goes, to (( circulate about the floor, in case anyone else wants to bump into her such as e.g. Charles @Noob5674 )) get drinks! ...She's thinking maybe a hot chocolate, since she's going to visit a coffee machine anyway.

((@Atma Warrior this is your cue.))

You do notice another person, @Noob5674, approaching you with a look that probably comes across as 'I'm probably in a similar situation as you.'

Jake, just randomly out of the blue, decides to hold his cards, not knowing if it would be a good or dumb decision. He had enough money at home. With an extra few thousand dollars, it wouldn't matter much fi he lost the game.

The dealer asks if anyone else is raising, holding, or folding. No one does and he the teller flips the two final cards revealing a 6 and 9. He gestures to you and says, "Three pair of 6, Your win."

With that, he pushes your winnings towards you and among them is a gold chip with a heart wrapped in thorns emblazoned on it. ''

"Ah, thanks," I say to the bell hop. Since I'm not so interested in the casino, the arcade would be a great alternative. So I end up stopping at the floor where the arcade is and walking towards it. The corridors are not so different from what one would expect from a high-class hotel, complete with carpeting and ornamentation. Not bad, really.

I'm still in the process of getting used to my altered sense of weight and balance, but it feels nice to do so.

There arcade is wide open with a mix dark furniture and lighting giving the place an atmospheric and perhaps even an nostalgic vibe, Their are games that are from ticket games, coin games, racing, light guns, dance, skeeball, and basketball.

Well, no. Marie doesn't precisely approach so much as "sweep by at a quick pace, carrying two separate paper cups with hot-beverage lids on" - but she does do a double-take as the flash of gold on the counter processes. "...I see we're in the same boat, fellow traveler. I've got a friend to meet back up with, but do feel free to join me." (( attn @Noob5674 ))

Charles nods with the acknowledgement of what the chip's purpose serves in this place and the fact that it has such a rule at all. Seeing how there's plenty of guests around and the fact that the chip was served as a sort of high prize...certainly seems like whatever he was brought here for, there's definitely something waiting up top that's worthwhile. The only thing is...why was he himself brought here and specifically told to go earn that chip? Not everybody here seems to have been kidnapped either, so that means that there's a lot missing from this, and instincts can only piece together an intact picture with all the pieces together. And right now, he's lacking that much at least.

Anyways, thoughts on circumstances are not as vital right now. Smaller picture more so.

It's with the person he was looking for that promptly brought Charles down from his brief split second of thought as he glances to Marie with a somewhat sharp stare. Not so much hostility or such, but definitely got full interests placed onto her. "Very well then. I suppose what awaits up top can wait."

With his earnings collected and thoughts sorted, Charles follows Marie with a sharp stare and walks with confidence...albeit having to pause on occasions as he sometimes walks too fast and has to wait to not bump into Marie's back.

"Very well then. I suppose what awaits up top can wait."
"It can and it damn well will, frankly. I'm not keen on the way this whole adventure has been a surprise. Who're you, and do you know anything about why this is yet, other than 'plausibly for shits and giggles'?"

Oddly enough, he's not the only person with a sharp gaze pointed at his conversation partner.

Although, there is one thing...
...albeit having to pause on occasions as he sometimes walks too fast and has to wait to not bump into Marie's back.
...he really doesn't have to do that until Marie pulls to a stop and passes off the cup she hasn't been drinking out of to someone at a blackjack table. "Found another one of us, Jessica. Also got the coffee you wanted."

Apollo thought for a second, then looked around for a moment to see if anyone else have a similar chip.

They replied to the teller, "I don't suppose you could tell me how to get more of these?"

"Well that happened!"
"I never won anything in my life and now this suddenly comes along through dumb luck!"
"Excellent!" Jake stated his satisfaction with excitement.
"But I don't know what this chip is."

"Not through the machines or games," the teller replies before continuing. "The owner of this establishment knows how to get more. From what I've have been told, all special VIPs are to meet with the owner once they have received their specialized chips."

The table manager looks at you before responding, "It is a special VIP, for guests the owner wishes to see personally. If you have that, then that must mean you were given instructions yes?"

"Oh yeah! I was having so much fun I forgot."
"Thanks mister." Jake thinks for a moment, getting a drink to enjoy.
Edit-
Taking a few sips. . . then later after a moment finishing it, he went to the tip-ippity tip top floor, as instructed.

He notices the gold coin, flicking it out and looking it over, even as he decides to get away with his winnings for now. It was the 'real prize', huh? Interesting. He heads towards the elevator, wondering how this would take him to the 999th floor.
Looking at the buttons in the elevator, you notice that the buttons are all lit save for the one designated 999. To the side of the buttons are two coin slots on the console. One upper and one below.

The coin went through the top slot and fell back into the lower slot. In doing so, the button designated as 999 lit up. Upon the openinng of the doors, you see an extremely decadant hallway that does not match with the previous decor. The motif is bizarre, with bronze base theme and colors of red and gold that make geometriic and sweeping designs throughout. There seems to no one in the hallway and various doors have the sign "Do Not Disturb" hung on their doorknobs.

Hm. Perhaps....
Alexander flips the coin up into the air, catching it, before he slots it into the upper coin slot. Let's see if this worked...

I haven't been to an arcade for a very long while, but it feels nice to visit one this time, though it's also mixed with a bit of anxiety from being far from home. Still, it's a good way to kill time, I guess, though I ought to be thrifty with the limited money I have.

In any case, after going around and seeing the kinds of games available, I decide to start with one of the racing games. Cars are a favorite of mine…

With that parting words, Apollo made his way to floor 999. How interesting, to meet the final boss this soon, Apollo thought.

The 999 Button lights up indicating that you can now press it.

Many of the racing games seem familiar to you though, their names are a touch off brand. At each machine, there are slots for coins and dollars to be inserted for play credits.

"Wonderful! I thank you for the guide."

With that parting words, Apollo made his way to floor 999. How interesting, to meet the final boss this soon, Apollo thought.

Upon reaching the 999th floor, you enter into a hallway with various Do Not Disturb signs and one other individual (@Janus ) present.

@Janus

"Why hello there! I don't suppose you know what's happening?" Apollo greeted cheerfully. In their right hand, Apollo is holding the special coin they have.

"No. I don't have a clue. I'm afraid. I hope being kidnapped was worth it. So far the beverages have been great, but it's still quite a hassle, you know?"
"Other than that, I've won a lot of money."

"Cool, cool. I didn't spend much time in the casino though. Barely know any of the games. I bounced as soon as I got this coin."

Why do the names look off? Final E instead of Initial D, for instance, or Nightona instead of Daytona, or even Grand Touring instead of Gran Turismo. Are they knock-offs rather than genuine articles? Or am I completely elsewhere where such names are the norm?

In any case, I might as well try one of them and see if it's at least on par with the ones I know.

You, begin to play one of the machines for sometime and complete the various circuit tracks. You realize that the high score lists are woefully low and your score far exceeds the current high score.

As a series of a tickets begin to feed out of the machine, a large gold coin drops from a slot. Upon it is a heart wrapped in thorns and like a ghost a person who appears to be a worker there speaks up from behind you.

"If you so would, please head to the top floor of the casino. Our boss would like to meet with you. "

@Janus @NinetyNineLies @THatWhichWillBe

The main doors open briefly and a figure steps out. He's a tall man of indefinite origin with dark hair and green suit. He looks at you three before clearing his throat.

"Only three so far? Wait here then, the boss will not reveal herself until all of you have arrived."

@TheBiggerFish @Noob5674 @Hydrokinesis @Omida @Maximum Power @shinkiro

Over the course of your moments of interaction various men and women in suits that make them stand out among the staff, calmly lay the special in front of you and quietly ask you to go to the top floor.

"...you know, there's hardly a point to...oh, whatever. Come on, people. let's get going and see where this farce leads us next. Perhaps phenomenal cosmic power? Heck if I know."

Marie starts walking to the elevator, only waiting for Jessica and Charles to catch up.

Marie starts walking to the elevator, only waiting for Jessica and Charles to catch up.
Charles at first follows...and then he starts picking up speed into speedwalking. Then jogging. Fortunately, he stops at just that and doesn't start running, if only because he does it to have time to keep an eye out for any other elevators up that'd be closer or different one so that he can rush his way up without being a dick and taking an elevator, leaving Marie and Jessica behind. (Optimize speed without gimping others)

Charles is...not very patient. Nor is he the kind of person that'd talk while walking...so if he's not gonna talk, he might as well get the walking over faster.

"Thanks, Marie." Jessica says as she gives the newcomer a good hard look over before accepting the cup from Marie. The coin she accepts a moment later before standing. It did seem... Somewhat weird to have the gambling aspect be a part, when leaving a note to meet at the top floor from the beginning might have worked better. Either way there'd be waiting in the waiting area in front of this mysterious benefactor's suite. With a shake of her head she follows after Marie and Charles, sharing their sentiments somewhat, Marie's more than Charles's. She goes with them into the elevator and once all are in gets the elevator going to the very top floor. Next is a bit of leaning against the wall and sipping the hot beverage in her hands.

"Outrageous cosmic powers would be pretty good, but have you considered a sublimely cooked meal and a fantastic drink?" Jessica idly says before giving the scarred and shaggy haired guy with them a nod. "And I'm Jessica Muñoz, who might you be?" With her question she perks up a brow, though Marie hopefully doesn't miss the questioning glance tossed her way right after. Around them the elevator starts to move, ferrying them up towards their mysterious benefactor.

"Those would be nice too but the outrageous cosmic powers can be leveraged into sublimely cooked meals and fantastic drinks better than sublimely cooked meals and fantastic drinks can be leveraged into outrageous cosmic powers. Heroes' Feasts are temporary, power welded to your soul is usually pretty eternal. ...Reasonably eternal. Depends on the power, the soul, and the welding process."

Marie is rather oblivious to social intrigue, but she does, somehow, manage to indeed catch on, and give a minute shrug-and-nod. She seems fine, at least, if that's what Jessica is concerned about.

And if there are actually 998 other floors, Marie settles into a slight lean against the wall, speaking up only when they three are the only three in the elevator. "Y'know, I don't think the Vegas Strip where I came from had a 999-floor building. I think that's more in the realm of the Burj Khalifa. ...Or whatever the newest tallest building is. Architectural sausage-waving contests, I swear. At least those serve a minorly practical purpose of advancing engineering, but at the same time, there's so much more you could put those resources to. I wonder how they pulled this one off, if we're not in some pocket Vegas and there's a world out there?"

The man is quiet for some time facing towards the door and at some distance from the girl, but eventually, Charles does answer once he connects the dots that they already know each other and that question was aimed at him. "Charles."

He's definitely listening to the two's conversation while waiting for the elevator to finish bringing them all up to the top floor...although, there's really not much else to pay attention to besides them and the elevator showing the rising floor number as they ascend...

'Tallest building I know goes up to about 100 floors...Actually, now that I think on it, 999 floors is close to impossible to actually be real unless the bottom floor was actually made underground. And that holds a whole new set of issues for possibly escaping cuz that means I'd have to search the top 100 floors, which'd be closer to the boss of this place too so can expect some kind of increase in security too...' Charles is very self-contained and more than alright with spending the time in the elevator in his own thoughts.
