Asphodel in Mourning: A Disco Elysium-Inspired Pokémon Quest

The good of the few vs the good of the many.

[X] The Fearows.

I could moralize it but frankly I don't like the idea of someone losing their friend, family, or partner because a fucking bird got peckish.

[X] The Fearows.
They have a large amount of normal moves, which'll do jack to Drakloak. And I'm not 100% on whether or not he can handle a clash against a 'Mon that's a whole evolution ahead of him.

Oh this is a tough one
Both sides sounds fun, but I think I'll go with
[X] The Fearows.
because of the juicy possible character development

[X] Kingdra.

I had a reason for this vote but every time I tried to write it down it made me feel like a bad person, so yknow compliments to the chef for making such a hard vote for me aha.

[X] The Fearows.

There's enough people here that I trust in at least one person being able to deal with the Kingdra. There's hundreds of people and pokemon on the ship after all, even if most are not battlers. But the Fearows are right here and are the less pressing threat so its less likely to be dealt with by others.

Considering that and what we know of Drakloak, I feel like not letting this happen is going to lead to good interactions with him.

DRAGON: Also, that waiter is starting to look confused. Assert yourself. Order everything on the menu.
FIGHTING: I can feel our strength returning! Soon, we shall be unstoppable!
I know our mind is a steaming hot mess at the moment, but out of context some of these thoughts are really funny.

This might sound like weak motivation but... Those Fearows are targeting a Furret. I know Kingdra is basically targeting it as well as the rest of the ship, but... This one feels more personal. Also because Drakloak looking at the Furret and Weedle being attacked coupled with his feelings of loss of his own lil' guy he was taking care of just kinda drove it home

It's an Omicron quest. It's okay to just want the coolest possible anime fight option. We all understand.
People keep saying "It's an Omicron quest" like it's self explanatory, but I've never experienced an Omicron quest, this is my first. I mean it's really setting the standards high for this quest!

...Which is fair because it's been really good so far.

But for the record I'm not voting it just because of Anime Fight Scene.

First the Birds right next to us THEN the Angy Derg. Sure, it's a Kingdra but if the ship wasn't rated to endure SOME damage then what the heck is it doing transporting passengers between regions? Also the Captain and crew should have more than strong enough Pokemon to ensure the safety of the Passenger… well some of them.

Fuck them kids.

(TBF, I think this choice sets up caring about small personal issues vs taking in the big picture, and, given broad DE themes, the former is probably healthier in the long run... But eh, dragon fight!)

WATER: Did you know that there are 159 recorded Water-type Pokémon at this date? Water is the most common Pokémon type among recorded species! It is also generally believed that the sea is home to the largest number of undiscovered Pokémon in the world. In a way, 'Water' could be considered the true 'Normal' type.

Should have gone to whichever region has Team Aqua. It would've been very funny.

They have equal type advantage over each other (Dragon vs Dragon), with maybe a slight edge to Drakloak as it resists Kingdra's second type, but going off pure BST Kingdra noticeably outclasses Drakloak. And this one can't be a weak member of the species, since it's conjured up a storm while simultaneously generating a cruise ship devouring whirlpool, so there's a good chance that it's higher level (or more experienced/stronger/whatever we're using to represent power here) than Drak too.

That's not to say winning is impossible, but from pure numbers alone we'd almost certainly be going in at a disadvantage.

This is war. The MC may have already reached rock bottom, but this Kindra won't show her the bottom of the sea floor.

I blame Ghetis for this Kindra attack.

Omicron has written a lot of very inventive quests with extremely excellent fight scenes, most famously a Bleach Quest, "Now You Feel Like Number None", which was very long, very successful, and genuinely pretty epic.

You're in for a treat, is what I'm getting at XD You should totally look at his backlog, and also his original novel "Should The Sun Not Rise", which is a very cool mystery story!

I feel that we need to prove ourselves to ourselves, and for that we must contend with the greatest challenge possible. DRAGON seems like the best voice for restoring our pride and audacity, and I'm sure Drakloak can take em. Stand tall and roar your challenge!
