As Black As Fate (ASOIAF/LOTR Mormegil Quest)

I personally am all for helping the Starks, but I have trouble seeing Turin worshipping somebody else besides Iluvatar, hence my vote for Eru

[X] The tree before you looms ever taller, and though no visions of grandeur or might play in your mind, you know, in your bones, what they will of you. They have been here for thousands of years, yet now their grip grows weak. The Wall weeps. The green dies. Winter is coming. They have seen what is to come, and so they command you to avert it. Five wolves yet live. Safeguard them at all costs. Restore the true blood in Winter's heart, and uphold what has been upheld since the oldest days of wood and stone.

Lets get the Starks back on track. I want to know what is meant by restoring the true blood in Winter's heart. Sounds awesome.

Why would we want to worship trees or some spirits claiming to be gods while we can remain true to one who bestowedupon us measure of same power that was used to forge Ea and from which Valar were born.

[X] No. You will serve no false gods or woodland spirits. Your god is the One, the true god, the creator of all that is and yet might be, Eru Illuvatar. His gift was Death, the doom of Men, and his servants are the Valar, the safekeepers of the world. The seas belong to Ulmo, the skies are the realm of Manwe, and the stars themselves are the crown of Varda Star-Kindler. They are the masters of the heavens and the rulers of the earth, and your loyalty shall fall to no other. The curse of Morgoth weighs still on your heart, but what of it? You are the Master of Fate, and you will be bound to no false thing.

Edit: Also when will the vote close?

Because as far as we know Eru is non-interventionist to the point of near-uselessness. Especially considering the PC's crappy life I could see him holding no love of Eru.

And notion of needing to worship a god is alien to anyone who absorbed much of elven culture.
Then there is whole remaining true to your belief/faith that should be not insignificant thing, that after everything there are some things that beyond doubt came from himself.

Think of it as a business transaction, we do stuff for them they peer into the future and ensure we do not have a terrible life anymore.

By any chance, is there a Melkor option? I mean, going fully evil?

Not once. Not ever. Even if SV plays Turin as an absolute monster, not in a thousand years would he ever willingly enter the dominion of Morgoth. Sauron, perhaps, but Morgoth?

The sun would boil and the seas would drown, the sun would rise in the west and set in the east, before Turin Turambar bent the knee to Melkor the Morgoth.

/overdramatic response

But really? No. Its quite out of character for Turin. There's only one thing that could ever break him so utterly that he might even consider doing so voluntarily--and it's already happened, and he simply killed himself. Which was, indeed, a victory for Morgoth in a way.

If Morgoth captured him and tortured him, of course, a forcible conversion might be possible--but Morgoth met his Doom long ago and far away, and Beleriand lies beneath the waves.

In other news, vote ends in an hour, and the update should hit sometime this afternoon.

I can admire that.

[X] There is only one god, this you have always known. He has been with you all your life, and now he calls you at last to him. He knows you, and you know him, and though you have always denied him, in practice you were but the greatest of his servants. He asks nothing, wants nothing, save silence. Empty silence, for his truth is the truth you have known all your days. All men must die.

[X] Seven. Seven gods and seven oaths. Their visions are visions of a world consumed by lust and greed and chaos. A land that purports to follow them, but serves only the gods of wealth and strength. They call on you to undo what has been done. To go south and restore what was undone. Monsters and murderers sit the throne of kings. Stags and lions feast on the corpses of dragons. They call you to show their fury to the false lords, to bring holy judgement with fire and blood.

[x] You choose the flame that burns bright against the shadow, and the visions it shows you--Gurthang, burning like a torch with it's own inner flame. A man, a certain man, reborn amidst smoke and salt, a man who must be protected, a man who must live to kindle the flame. A dragon, dying in the bleak midwinter as ice burns. You feel the fire ignite in your own heart, feel it lap and burn at the power of the Enemy. For the first time in your life, you feel...warm.

While I wish I'd been in time to vote, it'd have just been another for Eru. We can and likely will help the Starks, due to them being honorable and good people unlike many of their foes, but I just don't see Turin exalting any deity but Eru.

Why? Eru for Men is a story the Firstborn talk about sometimes. One they themselves admit they cannot verify unlike the existence of the Valar.
