No, I'm not back. Just testing if people are actually around here.

Of course we're still here. Which reminds me...

I mean, just look at the recent developments in the plot. A ton of major players were revealed, a lot of schemes are forming…the Admiralty Code is doing a great filter but the endgame is nowhere in sight.

If Ark Performance thinks they can resolve the main plot within the same number of chapters as they have released so far, I'd like to see them try.

AP managed to pull a "twist", somewhat abrupt, ending to the Gihren Assassination Plot manga. I put "twist" in quotation marks because it isn't really a twist to anybody at all familiar with the UC Gundam series. But it does rather bring things to a screeching halt just when you could start to see more and more plots unfolding, and more than a few plotlines are left to be tied up in the denouement/epilogue. The whole thing is actually quite satisfying, so I'm hardly complaining, but I am saying that it is relatively abrupt and I think that they could tie this up with a massive twist that somehow leaves people satisfied.

Unless they get all upset like what happened with a certain sequel to AI Love You.

Share with the rest of the thread! I'm interested too! :cry2:

Sorry, not really in the mood for forums or social media. I tried my luck with reddit, turns out from the ~1500 members of the arpeggio subreddit, ~1500 members do not read the manga. Some great quotes:
who is that?

Yamato......
I do not remember anything

Since 2022.12.20 I'm ignoring that place.... no point in trying to have fun at that dead place.
Well given the unusual activity around 2022.12.21 at a couple of other places I noticed when 4 days ago I was bored and used a little bit of Google-Fu, I decided to listen to one of our wisest philosphers of our time:

a moist place
I view it more as a personal blog than a subreddit, but I will post arpeggio stuff there, news, spoilers, art, stupid pictures. At least for a couple of months. Let's see how long my remaining energy last to do anything online.....

You can thank the Arpeggio subreddit for killing most of the energy I had to do something. An almost 10 years old question about Musashi's 2nd mental model gets partially answered, but it's stolen fanart or buba memes which get's the corrosive torpedo of those potatoes hard.....

I asked a member of this thread for a little feedback regarding my subreddit/blog before I make it public, but I guess there just is no interest....

btw. tomorrow is spoiler time

Sorry.

Things been a bit hectic over here. Two people in my life suffering from leg injuries simultaneously. And I'm looking for a job.

Now making food to bring over to friend.

Not much activity on subreddit, and I find the format a bit trickier than just reading posts here. Also, it has a bit more of a tendency to open links in a new tab. The images are also a bit smaller and harder to read against the background (though that might just be me).

I DO like the content, but it seems to mirror what you typically publish here already. If you put more stuff here, it will get more discussion, and also will likely drive traffic on the redlog/blogeddit. I don't seem to recall if you do or do not post on SB. Posting there, and encouraging discussion back and forth between the three sites is probably the best bet.

Hi guys, long time not smelt! How have you been?
Next month is the 15th anniversary of Arpeggio! Special new Volume and other stuff being released. Also two fan meetings in Osaka and Tokyo , but I'm not in Japan :,-(

Man, I'm so looking forward to it, hope you're also excited!
Thumps up if you're also exited!

I'm so excited, what new info will be revealed, what kind of bonus art will be there and

.... why did you post this here?? I didn't read this for 2 years.... I thought nobody gave a shit

And what's SB? Self-Bondage? I'm not judging, but not really the topic to disscuss here or my kink...

SB is Space Battles. And its been almost 21 months since I posted that.

I finally did get into Reddit, btw. If you could please send me a link to your subreddit, I would appreciate it.

I give more than a few shits.

But I have no idea about the rest of my post. I was going through some rough times, is all I can say. Why don't we get this thread going again? Or go over to Spacebattles-they have a rather more active Arpeggio discussion (though still rather quiet, its a fair amount more than here).

PLease feel free to do so!

Here we GO~~~~!

Arpeggio of Blue Steel

I know many of the people here are following this awesome manga and using the New Awesome Manga thread to discuss it. So why did I decide to make a new thread? Because of this: Domain Registrations Prompt "Arpeggio of Blue Steel" and "Nisekoi" Rumors Domain registrations are normally only...

Also, just for fun:

Searching for the Admiralty Code (Arpeggio of Blue Steel ideas/fic recs)

So... given all the interest about this Manga/Anime on these forums I was expecting to find at least one thread about it in the Index, but, as far as I can tell, no one thought of making one before. That's just unacceptable. Here, let me fix that. Basic info about the Manga/Anime Wikipedia...

Fleet of Fog Ships replace their IRL counterparts in WWII (Arpeggio of the Blue Steel)

On 1 January 1941, ROB snaps his fingers. Suddenly every faction in the war finds every warship in their respective navies is spontaneously replaced with the Fleet of Fog equivalents. These Fog warships are loyal to the country they are affiliated with, and not to the Admiralty Code. All ships...

Thanks! But turns out the thread is closed. :(

At least I connot post in it with a new account.

Ah, sorry. That's an anti-spam/necromancy filter.

Nobody has posted there for ~3 months (still a lot better than here, and activity picks up a LOT more whenever somebody actually has anything worthwhile).

As a general rule, to prevent people from doing stupid things and putting non-useful posts in threads a long time after the thread went dormant there is a rule about posting after 2 weeks. Veteran members get a warning we have to click on and acknowledge, which says that you can get in trouble for not posting anything meaningful (what exactly "meaningful" is is up to the Mods and the type of thread).

At least you've made an account! Feel free to look around SB. Its basically similar to this site, but with more variety and larger activity. There are also tech sections where people discuss sci-fi (and current) technology. Also a bit stricter about things that are Not Safe For Work. If you enjoy Sufficient Velocity, then I'm sure that you can find some things that you'll enjoy.

After a little while, that lock-out will go away and you can post in the AoBS thread.

In the meantime, I'm going to contact the moderators and ask for an exemption for you. Is your username the same over there? Mine is-feel free to contact me any time.

Whoops~!

Turns out the rules don't allow for other people to ask on your behalf.

Wouldn't it be easier just to post something to open up the thread?

Unfortunately, I don't have any news aside from this, and if I post this, I could get in trouble for plagiarizing you (even if you gave me permission). And I don't know where to look for more information.

Someone really needs to update the Arpeggio of Blue Steel TV Tropes page, I don't think it's been touched since Chapter 50 at best.

hm.... doesn't seem to be a lot going on here anymore.... :(

whatever , I total missed it, but the cover for volume 28 and special volume 2 where posted last week: twitter link

especially nice is volume 28

I made a quick edit to celebrate it

strange, normaly people would be posting something about the current plot, but nothing....

I mean we had:
  • Bismarck's hidden ability, overcloak?
  • Kotono being part of the verdict
  • the mistery of point nemo
  • Bismarck human name being Anneliese
  • Berlinetta having been a hostage
  • Hibiki following Chouzous footsteps
  • official name for "Isotops"
  • president not being human, also knowns Chouzou
  • holiday at Perl Harbour
  • Chivalary being a group of "martyrs" i.e. all died
  • Iwo Jima being build into a little city and forshowing of a lost Hashirajima
  • old nameless/south dakota being a shit human name
  • the assault on Hakugei
I guess people realy stopped reading it

It really comes down to the fact that the plot pacing is extremely, painfully glacial, and most of the oxygen in the room for it has been slowly sucked out.

I love AoBS, but its a manga with an extremely limited English release platform whose niche has generally been taken up by so many other projects, and literally takes years for arcs to be settled. Sure, its my favorite manga, but I'm not going to touch it except maybe once a year when I know I have a substantial amount of stuff to read and explore. FFS, its been 4-5 years since I-401 got rendered out of action and we are nowhere close to any sort of return to the ship, and a lot of the world-building is far more safe and less radical than one would expected.

There are way too many characters and arcs going on and most of them end up overlapping in ways that really waste the screentime they would have had, and its arguable there hasn't been a central connecting plot for a while. These things just really aggravate the aforementioned glacial speed of releases and material. Multiple other series have begun, ended, had far more things happen in the overarching timespan of AoBS's timeframe.

You can say 'let them cook', but at the same time, if people have to wait a very long time, it can't be helped that a ton of interest is lost.

The pacing is slow, that is true, but I think you have to judge it based on a volume basis and then the plot progesses. It probably doesn't help that it is one a monthly release which in comparison to a weekly release schedule just has less content, 4 * 18 pages vs 30 pages.

But there is one point which I don't understand:
an extremely limited English release platform
Sadly the English release was canceled, but with crunchyroll simul pup you still have a monthly chapter release. And the recent chapters had some nice lore dropes, so I'm wondering why nobody here or on SB comments on them?
