Yeah, I'm behind this opinion. Orks - degraded as they are from the Krork - are still very much a 'might makes right' kind of race, and pretty much the only time you'll rout an entire orkoid force is when you kill the Warboss and prove it to them. They LOVE fighting, and I'm pretty sure their reaction to being bombed to hell (no matter the severity of losses) would be 'bring it', so why would they ever scream for mercy and clemency for some random 'umies that came to them obviously looking a good scrap/krumping?

As for the torture scene, I'm really not feeling it. Would the Old Ones really engineer a race to basically wage conflict in the War in Heaven to be able to mentally break to torture? I would think not. As it is, the section dealing with the Orks reads like some other opportunistic xenos species that went and preyed on man and got some karmic-backlash, rather than the Orks.

I just needed to get this off my chest.
They were mostly screaming from being set on fire by Phosphex.

Onwards To A New Chapter (Life Goes On)
As Ohrmuzd directed the literal thousands of new aspirants aboard the many Storm Birds he had to wonder about the sanity of the people on these planets. A few simple words with their leaders and they begin practically throwing young boys at him to be recruited. He didn't know it could be that easy!

A knocking on his armored leg roused him from his musings, and looking he down he saw a rather small and young male child. With one of his arms wrapped around a stuffed grox plushy and the other having been withdrawn back to his mouth after being used to knock on the Astarte's boot.

The young child is definitely afraid of him, but still, he's brave enough to ask a simple question. "Where we goin Mister Giant?"

The sight alone is enough to unsettle Ohrmuzd's naturally friendliness, simply due to the fact a child this young shouldn't be thrown into the crucible of Astarte-hood and after that, war. He should be home with his family enjoying his childhood. But, he had already been informed that the Legion's aspirants were all sourced from the orphanages of the sub-sector.

Thinking quickly, the Astartes makes a decision. Removing his helmet, he begins speaking with the boy. "We're going up to meet your new family little brother. Up in the stars with the rest of our brothers." His reply is soft as he kneels down as far as he can to eye level with the lad. "We're all going out into the universe to battle the bad guys so that people can have places to live."

The young lad gives him a considering look before speaking. "Is it gunna be scary?" His face one of complete trust yet also concern.

Ohrmuzd gives a reassuring smile. "It can be, but as long as we have our brothers and each other it'll never beat us."

The young boy eyes go wide at that, before he burst into an enormous smile. Reaching his arms out in a sign that he wished to be picked up, something the Astartes acquiesced to before beginning to walk toward one of the Stormbirds. With the young boy rest in the crook between his head and one of his pauldrons, a thought occurs.

Looking to the lad he asks. "What's your name little brother?" The question regaining the excited boys attention.

His response. "Ma named me Cedric fore she got sick. Then I got taken to the house with all the ovver kids."

Ohrmuzd give him another gentle smile before speaking. "It's nice to meet you Cedric. I hope to be the best older brother I can be to you and all the other boys." And with that, the Astartes carried the young child with him onto one of the departing Stormbirds.

Due to Diplomatic Excellence Ohrmuzd has gathered an extreme surplus of Aspirants while also somehow ingratiating himself with the powers of the sub-sectors. Both sub-sectors opinions of the Fifteenth are at Liked. Additionally, Ohrmuzd has advanced in his Diplomatic Skill. He is now at 5/4 Diplomacy, and has forged a bond with a young orphan named Cedric.

Aventus calmly sits back, sipping a special blend of recaff in his goblet as he watches half the entire Sector's economy crash into a black hole. While the other half simply hobbles along on broken legs and snapped crutches. He'll be receiving the reports from his underlings about successful buyouts across the sector by the end of the week. Just as he calculated.

Still, he has to wonder if his methods might eventually be even more destructive than simply putting dissenters to the sword as Tyrian did. His tools were backroom deals, criminal heads, and old fashioned corruption in businesses. If he wasn't careful he could very well create a monster that would strangle the Imperium in its crib.

With that cheerful thought he began typing up orders for tax plans to be implemented, new trade laws, and classifications and permits for different pieces of technology. Starting with the Sigilite's standard procedure, before branching out and modifying it to fit the sector as it had developed. Setting up traps and ambushes by planetary and up law enforcement to catch the expendable criminals and keep the useful ones in line. For now, at least.

As he sat he hummed a simple tune he remembered from his childhood on Terra. A rather simple one about a strange striped feline that enjoyed bouncing on its tail, a Ger if he recalled the texts correctly. Tyrian always seemed both amused and saddened whenever he had hummed it in his presence. Whatever mysteries the Legion Master had could wait, he had a job to do.

With that, Aventus turned his full attention back to his economic analysis program he was building on his cogitator in order to aid his future endeavors. All the while still humming that song.

Aventus has completed the last few systems and sub-sectors to finish the last full sector of what will become Segmentun Solar. Thankfully due to his expertise he has limited the amount of corruption left behind by methods. Though another in-depth cleaning would not be amiss.

Fascinating, seeing an Astartes that finds currying the resource that is the youth of a world to be a tragedy. But then, this is not 40k.

I'm thinking have Tyrion either train Martial or beat someone into Compliance.

Well, Ohrmuzd has always been a bit of a "softy" as it were. Whether it be children or just people in general, he would of definitely been at home in the Salamanders. Heck, they might have even called him too nice.

We need to do something before molusk fuck us. Better focus on geneseed and create a excellent research team of healer marines to deal with flesh change before we discover Magnus.

You're not going to know the Flesh Change is a thing until it smacks you in the face when the Legion has its psychic awakening. Thus any preparations you could make now would be mostly of the "we have reserves" type of preparation, something the Fifteenth wasn't good at even before the Change wrecked everyone's shit.

Any preparation is better than none. Are lunar genesmiths already dead?

Good turn, I'm thinking for the plan we look into Logis compliance for one of Aventus's actions and if we can have Ohrmuzd do work with the other Legions in preparation for returning to the the Crusade fleet.

1. Does sending Ohrmuzd as Tyrian's "minder" cost him an action?
2. Is having Aventus look into better Logis compliance methods a valid action?
Fuck I wishe we still had a boon in reserve
We have those Emperor favors in reserve and one of my boons wouldn't have covered it.

In fact I did specifically use my boons to improve our ability to bounce back from it and preserve a very valuable asset.

1. Yes.
2. Yes, though there will be rolls to see how much progress he makes.

Going to go ahead and make my Proto plan to try to get some feedback going and check for it's compliance. Anyways here we go

[] Plan Azgrin: T3
Tyrian
- Martial Compliance 1 dice
- Return to the main Crusade Fleet LOCKED
Aventus
- Uplift 1 dice
- Find less corruptive ways to carry out Logis compliances 1 dice
Ohrmuzd
-Accompany Tyrian to the Crusade Fleet 1 Dice
Ahirman
- Train Diplomacy 1 Dice
Solomon Tumadi
-Train Martial 1 Dice
Tychus
-Train Logis 1 dice

So since the updated system encourages upping the skill of our heroes I'm going to spend this turn prepping Diplomacy, Logis and Martial candidates for a massive sweep of compliances next turn. Of course this turn with Tyrian having an action locked and Aventus needing to better our Logis doctrine and uplift our brokenish holdings we will be doing minimal compliances.

Next turn (I think the last before the flesh change) expect the vast majority of our dice to go to compliance.

Comments?

I say train Tyrians Diplo instead of a compliance this turn. We were planning on doing that soon anyway, and doing it now would help with the mandatory socializing. Also narratively fits, training with Ohrmunzd on the way there.

We have only nominal strength ships and Imperial Army complements. Aventus should look into expanding that. Really, there is so much for a Logis specialist to do that I don't think focusing on Logis Compliances is a good idea.

Train Ahriman as a generalist. Solomon Tumadi as another diplomat, Tychus Logis, and Caspian Shalashaska as a Martial specialist for a well balanced spread.

Taking so many training actions and no (or one) compliance is pushing it. I say send at least Ahirman out, he is competent. Maybe a write in option of Compliance (Any)?. Or (Martial/Logis).

Keep in mind that actions train too. Training should be used to get our people competent or when we really want the stat high, otherwise send them out to do stuff and learn from it. 3/4 is probably competent.

So here we go, Enarel convinced me to send off Ahirman to do some compliance because less than 2 dice is pretty low. Otherwise we are just hoping Ohrmuzd's new diplomacy score will out do Tyrian's smelly rock tier diplomacy.

That said I'd like to train Ahirman's diplomacy up at some point. As a soon to be Uber powerful Psyker I need him to speak with grace at Nikea.

[X] Plan: Enerael
Tyrian
- Train Diplo 1 dice
- Return to the main Crusade Fleet LOCKED
Aventus
- Uplift 1 dice
- Gather Resources (Ships or Army) 1 dice
Ohrmuzd
- Accompany Tyrian to the Crusade Fleet 1 Dice
Ahirman
- Compliance (Martial/Logis) 1 Dice
Solomon Tumadi
- Train Diplo 1 Dice
Caspian Shalashaska
- Train Martial 1 dice

We would train Diplo soon anyway, we can do it now instead, benefit from it on this trip, then do Compliance later when we would have trained.

More ships could give us more actions, and at least will give us bonuses. More imperial Armies probably just bonuses, but that is still very valuable. Better do it now and launch Compliances later to benefit from the bonus. Also comboes well with the Uplift action.

Caspian Shalashaska has 2/0/0 skills, so an obvious Martial specialist that will be useful next turn (3/4 is competent I think). Solomon Tumadi of our three as yet unused heroes is the only one with Diplo more that 0/4 (he has 1/4) so diplo specialist.

The only thing I dislike is not looking into Logis Compliances, it has been noted Aventus wants to do that because while very efficient they leave behind a worryingly large criminal element. Otherwise? Solid.

Indeed, to clarify things. The Heroes and Leaders different skill levels on not just their own personal ability. It is also supposed to represent their STRATEGIC affect on a campaign. If someone actually has a point in something it means they are able to affect an entire campaign with their roll.

On a Leaders note how do I get my man Ohrmuzd promoted to Leader? I'd kill for him to have two actions.
