Alchemical Solutions [Worm/Exalted] Thread 8: Haggard Host Hopefully Homestead Hazardous Haven

Have a peripheral consciousness analyze the lobster while the rest focuses on on making Chris socially awkward? come up with a decent stunt that combines the two and I might consider swapping to it, but it might just muddle the vote.

I've switched my "I Spy" stunt to the following:

I Spy: Provide time-consuming distractions during trip to keep mind of Wards off emotional traumas.
- Stunt: Point out nearby landmarks and/or National Parks. Enjoy the serenity of nature and destress from the events of the last few weeks. Collect interesting bugs.

A kill order will only happen if she does something that warrants it. Even Blasto the other biotinker doesn't have one. Ordering one for just having the power is asking for trouble since that could drive people into villiany.
This.

Like Blasto they'd probably keep the paperwork signed and ready in a drawer somewhere so they can react immediately if Amy goes off the deep end, but they're smart enough not to poke the obvious hornets nest.

This is the best I could come up with

[] Diners, Drive-Ins, and Dives: Sample New England cuisine to increase your own culinary profile.
-[] Stunt: Go on a totally-not-a-dinner-date thing with Chris once Clarity dies down a little along the way, you never did get to follow up on the incidents back in Brockton Bay. While there study the lobsters and try to figure out the best specimens/traits for consumption, this way you can enjoy good food AND hopefully eventually start your own lobster farm for profit and personal use.

[X] World's Largest Bug: Divert road trip to tourist traps and sightseeing opportunities along the way.
-[X] Stunt: Go on a girls' day out, go shopping and get a clue about fashion, while introducing Missy, Aisha and the twins to each other. Find out how they're doing, and get cracking on ideas for a wardrobe for them. Activate human form to avoid alarming the locals.

[X] Diners, Drive-Ins, and Dives: Sample New England cuisine to increase your own culinary profile.
-[X] Stunt: Activating TIE so as not to disturb the patrons at our first stop, properly introduce Aisha to the wards and ask the twins how they are doing. Take note of the dishes each Wards member prefers.

dude, all you did was staple the two stunts together by sticking the word ALSO between them to make the bastard of all run on sentences. If you can come up with something decent by the time I'm back in from cutting the lawn I'll consider changing my vote.

heres my second try at combining the Lobster and not-a-date options, any suggestions?

It's possible to lose two clarity a day. One from virtue channel, one from positive social interaction with a mortal.

provided both go well, we'd be at clarity 3, which is a -1 penalty IIRC.
Correct, just on the cusp of no penalties at all (which is highly attractive at this point...).

[X] Diners, Drive-Ins, and Dives: Sample New England cuisine to increase your own culinary profile.
- [X] Stunt: Lobster and similar is a staple of regional cuisine; our administration ability relates to such creatures. Between this and our diagnostic vision, attempt to learn the traits and characteristics of optimal specimens for consumption. Information gained from this may be relevant to managing/breeding our own population of food arthropods in the future.
[X] I Spy: Provide time-consuming distractions during trip to keep mind of Wards off emotional traumas.
-[X] Stunt: Start training Aisha to be an effective saboteur and spy under the guise of helping her with harmless pranks. This will start a trip long prank-war that will both test our collective creativity and strengthen our team bonds.

[X] 3 XP - Backing (PRT) ●●●○○

Hm. Sadly, I don't see a feasible way to Stunt using a Virtue channel. Shame, because Compassion would fit trying to help the Wards out, and we need Clarity down ASAP.

How about this for a combo stunt

[] Diners, Drive-Ins, and Dives: Sample New England cuisine to increase your own culinary profile.
-[] Stunt: Having activating TIE so as not to disturb the fine patrons of "Bubba's Lobster Shack", while you are introducing Aisha to the wards and checking up on the twins one of your threads seems to have settled on analyzing the live lobsters you can choose from analyzing their traits and characteristics to determine which are best for consumption and filing the information away for later.
but Aisha can already be introduced with the Shopping trip and prank war votes/stunts besides we need us some cute/funny Weaver/KW bumbling not-a-date shenanigans.

Not really feeling Chris/Taylor honestly also again Clarity is going to turn even the barest attempts at anything romantic into a disaster.
We have a large dice pool for one-on-one interactions "presence" and with a virtue channel of Compassion to help with Cheering him/ up PLUS the Intimacy towards him and we only have a -2 penalty AND there's our Appearance 5 and Reputation (Beautfiul). So the date should go pretty DAMN well, there's also the fact that Clarity!Taylor can easily rationalize the intimacy since he's valuable (most of the armor design was cribbed from his tech after all).

Changed the Diner stunt, since people have pointed out that crap socialize levels and 4+ clarity makes this a bad idea. I like the pairing, but I'll hold off trying to ship it until we've got our clarity back down again and have some more points in socialize.

The rest of the legalese is perfunctory, save two items near the end: recruitment bonuses for Sakura Yakamoto and Saki Yakamoto, each totalling $2,500 - which both go into your Trust Fund, as usual. You sign and initial for the bonuses and the remaining legalese, then close the folder and pass it back to Director Piggot. As she looks up to you and takes the folder, you catch her eyes.
So they're in. Teleporters, right? Well, that'll be handy.
"Dragon had sensors tracking Weaver as she left the grounds, as the Wards have been confined to the refugee camp limits. Weaver only reported that you petitioned her to allow the Undersiders - along with New Wave member Panacea and the rogue, Parian - safe passage from the camp, and that you had returned a pistol and set of PRT restraints that you had 'found' somewhere."

A quick snort from the Director punctuating her last statement gives no doubt to her own belief about where Aisha obtained the pistol and restraints, but otherwise Director Piggot remains silent after finishing her explanation. You are uncertain as to why Piggot would conceal the fact that your report laid out the full details of the encounter in the woods - as doing otherwise would have been a flagrant violation of the PRT's trust and in defiance of the law - but you consider the move a prudent one considering Aisha's likely reaction to your apparent betrayal of her trust.
Considering how things went in canon (and in many a fanfic), I find it delightfully ironic that this version of Taylor is a big stickler for the law and loyal to the PRT (at least while under Clarity).
That said... smooth on Piggot's part. She doesn't care if Aisha dislikes her, but she knows that Taylor she'll be Taylor's teammate, and that Taylor is the main factor keeping her in the Wards in the first place, so she prioritizes making sure Aisha has no problem with Taylor.
Manipulative, but efficient.
"Uh… I guess? TT was gettin' real jittery all this mornin', sayin' that we… they… needed to get Panacea the fuck outta Dodge. Regent was bitchin' that they didn't have any reason to do jack without a paycheck, but TT and br-… Grue… said they'd figure something out once they bounced."
Reassuring, in a way - if the Undersiders were acting on a "let's keep the biokinetic from turning into a class S threat" logic rather than a "let's get the hell away from the powerful robo-cape with an excellent motivation to go Predator on our ass" logic, that improves our odds of contacting and bringing them into the fold in Philadelphia.
"Not… shady, I guess, but kinda… weird? I mean, Panacea is like, this super goody-two-shoes healer, right? She ain't got a disguise, either, so she can't jus' walk around town without a camera spotin' her. Still, when I saw TT chattin' her up she always looked… I dunno. Tired? I could see someone like her gettin' fed up with the bullshit of everyone always expectin' ya ta help out. Said her mom was losin' her shit too, so that prolly didn't help."
I wouldn't want to be Brandish right now. Her city, destroyed. Her daughter, dead. Her adopted daughter she always feared would turn villain, run away with a team of villains.
"Armsmaster, I want you drawing up paperwork for a pre-approved Kill Order on Amy Dallon should any signs of her becoming a biological terrorist arise. Miss Militia, you're to deliver the news to New Wave that Panacea fled the camp under her own power and without coercion.
Efficient, to the point, but not unfair. I like this Piggot.
"Hypothesis: only Panacea aware of power extent. Ancillary hypothesis: fear of reveal, abuse of power significant factor in mental duress."
Yay for Taylor and her leet Investigation abilities!
"Shadow Stalker's real name is Sophia Hess."
I repeat: I'm loving Piggot in this.
"There's too many questions flying around about you, Weaver. Now, I know you're not Taylor Hebert. Hell, you might not even be a real parahuman. Either way, I don't care. If the rest of the capes under my command had been anywhere near as proficient as you, we might have been able to turn things around in Brockton Bay years ago."
Well, if anything, we appear to have earned Piggot's respect.
Interesting, however, that she believes we're neither Taylor nor parahuman. Hm. Maybe she's talked it over with some PRT Thinkers, and the going theory is that we're a tinkertech android? Cauldron seemed to think we were artificial, so it's simply a question of who drew the conclusion in the first place...
You follow, noting that Aisha has just finished changing the positions of every chair in the room.

A useless gesture as the chairs are all identical, but everyone has to start somewhere.
Encouraging - she has excess energy and can't sit still, but she's trying to handle it by doing something that doesn't actually cause any trouble.
Aisha might have a decent future in the Wards.
Heh.
"O-oh, r-right. I am yes. I mean, yes, I'm unharmed. Unhurt. Right. I'm going now. Good luck against the Endbringers."
Hm. I wonder if touching Soulsteel made Weld hear the wailing of the damned?
The final vehicle, 'Boston Van 00', contains Aegis, Dinah, Triumph, Velocity, Weld.
These guys are gonna have a big challenge ahead of them, with most of Brockton's villains moving to Boston.
But if Dinah's powers function reasonably well once she's not in the same city as us... then the Boston PRT is gonna have one hell of an advantage.
Intimacy: Aegis/Carlos (Friendship) +1 Increase! [NOW FULL INTIMACY!]
Intimacy: Director Piggot (Grudging Trust) +1 Increase! [NOW FULL INTIMACY!]
Oh sure, now we finish forming an intimacy with them!
Fucking timing.
Wait. If we're not gonna be in the same town as Aegis... who's gonna be the leader of the Philadelphia Wards? A Philly local, I would guess, but...

Not exactly. Presence is the ability that governs our leadership ability. Socialize on the other hand represents how well you understand social rules and customs and helps you navigate social situations.
Yeah I just looked it up the unofficial wiki, heh... just like canon Taylor give us a combat situation and we're the ultimate C&C AWACS but put us in a social situation and we go to pieces eh?

well, one more training day towards socialize and we can buy level two. That should probably help in the future.

It bears mentioning that Triumph (I can't remember his civilian name and it's not important enough to me to go digging for it) will roll the fuck over anyone that tries to take advantage of Dinah. She's like, his last remaining relative, so he's gonna feel very, very protective of her. Basically, she's probably not going to be as much help as most would believe.

Which is good, I think. She'll be less of a plot device and more of a character.
Canon Dinah went to a lot of trouble to save the world.
This version of Dinah doesn't know about the potential end of the world yet... but she's had her city destroyed by an Endbringer. I suspect that she's going to get pretty civic-minded without people trying to pressure her into the PRT.

Updating my vote, since the totally-not-a-date doesn't seem likely to get anywhere.

Man Taylor is just going to lose her shit when she finally gets down off of Clarity.

BB Gone.
Danny tried to kill her.
Walked around like an exhibitionist.
Hurt and ignored her friends when they could have used her support.
Found out about SS and saw the darkside of the PRT with how Piggot was treating Amy.

It just keeps piling up.
However, she'll remember understanding and agreeing with it all, so the basic mental defences against cognitive dissonance will kick in and make her rationalise it all as completely consistent with her personality and previous opinions, and she'll reinterpret her previous self to match.

Exalts are still human. That's why Limit Breaks are so dangerous.

Alright you are the one who invented this so ... what does this actually accomplish?
I'm guessing a resources background independent of the PRT. On a small scale a lobster farm would be at least somewhat profitable for Taylor, considering she could sell them to processors for 10-15 dollars a pound.
