Alchemical Solutions [Worm/Exalted] Thread 22: Villains Valiantly Vanquished, Viator Vows Vengeance

Are these just your preferred options? None of them are winning at the moment, if you're trying to provide a vote template.
Yes they're my preferred choices as when I'm done writing stunts for all the options that need it I'll just add Xs and be done. People don't need to vote for the stuff they don't like, although I would obviously prefer it if they backed my plan.

To be honest, I find the idea that Missy and the twins will be fine with working with Bonesaw... laughable.

I don't care how much of a woobie pre-Bonesaw Riley was, or how much people liked her redemption in canon. The simple fact is, current Bonesaw is basically a fusion of Harley Quinn and Josef Mengele. Except that Mengele, despite being one of the most monstrous human beings in recorded History, still wasn't as horrifying as Bonesaw, if only because he lacked her superscience abilities.

My grandmother is a Holocaust survivor. She's also one of the nicest people I know. And you know what? By her own admission, she felt much more at peace after Israel had Adolf Eichmann tried and executed. And Bonesaw? Bonesaw is one of the few people for whom "Worse than a death camp-running SS" is not hyperbole. The torture she's inflicted on people in general and Missy and the twins in particular is not just the stuff of nightmares, it is literally worse than any torture ever inflicted on anyone in real life.

Buuut, we're expected to believe that they will be fine with their torturer getting away with her crimes, maybe even being brought on board with the team, because... well, because we want them to be?

Yeah no.

So. Deep Silver has to have some means of surviving the completely inhospitable landscape. That means either a power that lets them ignore the cold or Tinker power to build shit so they don't have to worry about the cold.

Oh man she could be an evil Elsa expy.
FUKKIT. Evil Elsa it is.

[ ] Stunt: The intercontinental ballistic missile slams into the center spire, sending shards of silvery ice flying in all directions as the missile disgorges its contents: a woman garbed in crystalline armor eerily similar to her surroundings, and a massive skeletal dinosaur. Their entrance is greeted with spikes of ice and rock hurled by misshapen abominations of detritus and dirty snow.

Why can't we just throw her in a hole and be done with her?

Can some tell me what the highest voted option for throwing Bonesaw in a hole is?

I'll add my own opinion on Bonesaw.

Is she terrible? Absolutely. Do Missy, Saki and Sakura hate her? Of course they do.

Will sending her to Cauldron or Birdcage lead to horrible unforeseen consequences? It almost definitely will.

If we didn't want to have Bonesaw as our sidekick, we should have killed her. We didn't, and now we can either bite the bullet and accept her, or else suffer terrible consequences when she is further corrupted by Teacher/Ingenue/Lustrum/Cauldron.

I don't want to suffer terrible consequences. I am in favor of keeping Bonesaw and making a Riley out of her.

[X] Stay with the wards

My Little Monster: (PICK ONE, ONE STUNT ALLOWED)

-[X] Stunt: The intercontinental ballistic missile slams into the center spire, sending shards of silvery ice flying in all directions as the missile disgorges its contents: a woman garbed in crystalline armor eerily similar to her surroundings, and a massive skeletal dinosaur. Their entrance is greeted with spikes of ice and rock hurled by misshapen abominations of detritus and dirty snow.

(Don't) Be Afraid: (PICK ONE, NO STUNTS)
[X] Tell the PRT the full extent of SoPA's capabilities, explain what Vision of Vengeance did.

Look What Rolled Into Town: (PICK ONE, ONE STUNT ALLOWED)
[X] Negotiate to keep Iris in a quarantined area within SoPA range so that he can work and be studied at the same time. Iris ambivalent, PRT still not satisfied but not angry.
-[X] Stunt: "So it...he?...is the 'god' of innovation?" The scientist queries skeptically as Iris, comfortably in his Lab, compares the cross section of an orange with that of a cyberrat. "Approximately. Poking and prodding Him will give data but ultimately avail little; you will not understand. To understand, you must observe."

[X] EOA - Free Action: Sitting in a hospital chair, gingerly holding her hand, you quietly tell an unconscious Missy the events of the day, as you have every day so far. Eventually, your swarm alerts you to her incoming foster parents and you draw to a close, standing and heading out. Just at the door, however, you hear a slurred "Taylor?" from behind you.

[X] FPoP - Free Action: First Prayer settles on the roof of the surprisingly intact Independence Mall and focuses on the quiet, internal thrum of the Maker's Clarity. Nearby, Willow glances uncomfortably at Weld as illusory crystalline shards begin cascading into the twilight, "and this will bring Marrow back?" "...I hope so."

@Dynamesmouse, do you want Missy, Sakura and Saki to hate us forever once they find out that we lied about sending Bonesaw to Birdcage? Because that's how you get Missy, Sakura and Saki to hate us forever once they find out that we lied about sending Bonesaw to Birdcage.

First two free actions as promised

1)
EOA FREE ACTION: Saving Alexandria's (Parts)
"Found them."
Clockblocker and the PRT squad followed as Weaver walked out to the Delaware's edge.
The PRT squad shifted uncomfortably as she began to strip.
"Taylor, why are you getting naked?"
"Too heavy for the fish. So I need to dive for them."
As she waded out past the waterline, a swarmclone formed on the shore.
"Back in five."
(60 words).

2)
PRAYER FREE ACTION: Meditation (Charms)
"There."
Bladedancer pats the headphones on your head and steps away.
As you close your eyes you hear Willow whisper "Will that help?"
"She likes to meditate to wind chimes," Weld murmurs back. "Finds it calming..."
With a mental effort you shut out the whispered conversation, turning up the music volume as you turn your focus inwards and down.

(59 words)

I'd be perfectly happy just putting a bolt or two in her head and calling it a day, but since this isn't an option at this point, I have to settle for sending her far away, so I'm voting to make sure we aren't going to compromise ourselves by trying to rehabilitate her.

Why can't we just throw her in a hole and be done with her?
Just sending her to the Birdcage is untenable without a really good stunt that finds a way to keep us from basically delivering her to Teacher et al on a silver platter. Good luck with that. I haven't thought of a solution to that problem and I will be impressed if someone actually manages to comes up with an ironclad plan for doing that.

Shipping her off to Cauldron means that while Bonesaw will be paying for her crimes by fixing the shit she broke Cauldron basically won't give a fuck about making her not a monster unless we make them give a fuck, which we can't do unless we have enough pull to affect policy, which we can't do unless we have Backing 4+, which (with the exception of sun tzu) nobody seems very keen on doing.

So yeah.

@Dynamesmouse, the way I see it, we can either:
  • compromise our PR and strain our friendships (while being honest and direct) now (keep Bonesaw as a pet), or
  • compromise our firendship by lies (send her to Cauldron), or
  • compromise our safety by delivering her to Teacher/Ingenue/other S-class crazies.
Second option damages trust.
Third option may cause megadeaths.

First option is also problematic, but not as problematic as other two.

After all, once Twins return, we can ask their opinion and modify our decision accordingly.

That was mostly rhetorical, but thank for the good answer.

Seriously, you don't know how down I am with operation: crossbow double tap.

@landcollector, I assumed that sending Bonesaw to Cauldron will be a secret between us and Cauldron. My assumption may be wrong, yes.

But even if it is wrong, we will essentially give Bonesaw to the least trustworthy people we can find outside of Birdcage.

honestly, I think we should get rid of bonesaw. Yes, someone else will almost certainly manipulate her into doing their bidding, and yes it will bite us later, but it's far better to get rid of her than have a rouge exalt on our hands.

The twins were taken by bonesaw, turned into meat machines, and used to kidnap other people against their will.

then they were taken by us, turned into bullshit magic machines, and are expected to follow our orders from now on.

They might think we're just going to use them like bonesaw did.

I know that's a huge oversimplification, but I'm worried about what they'll do when they get back.

Or I'm just paranoid.

Also it's difficult to impossible to escape from the birdcage, she probably won't get out until we're strong enough for it to not be a problem.

Since some are voting for backing 3, can you give us a hypotethical example of what kind of jobs we might get from that level of contact? And what we could expect in return.
Backing 1, 2, or 3 would be mostly similar to things they've had us done; tasks that have us more as remote contractors than actual agents, since Essence makes us exceptionally difficult to form plans around. For instance, at these levels they will pay for more Exalted/Alchemical/Autochthon-related information.

Backing 4 and 5 would have us doing the work Contessa, Number Man, and Cenotaph have been doing to advance Cauldron agendas, while they would be expecting us to hand over all Exalted info as a matter of course.
So, the two headed 8 limbed twin-hybrid from the interlude is going to use social charms to convince Taylor that its now the boss? Got it. :o
No comment.
Would you accept a stunt where Iris is sent to quarantine, gets bored and uses the time to figure out how to remotely access the internet (since in the middle option he would have essence, but nothing to do with it), and in the process invents either "Wireless Interface Modality"-submodule or the Metaneural Uplink Node charm or both (those are the two modern wireless internet ones)? Maybe if Taylor hinted at the possibility during the stunt or something?

Or is creating modern charms more difficult than that, and you would veto that idea?
Iris will only be able to create functioning Alchemical charms with materials, and an Alchemical on which to test them. So, if we choose to hang out with him in Quarantine and provide him with mats, that's an option. However, he does have things he needs/wants to do, so there's that - I will note that if Bonesaw is in the Quarantine as well, charm creation would satisfy her desire for Alchemical information.

We have voted that we're going to be using the full list of Cauldron candidates, and the Stunt even explicitly called out Glaistig Uaine. As a result, I will allow for a convincing Stunt to Bonesaw to the Birdcage and directly into the care of GU, with Bonesaw delivering a message to GU for us.

[X] Stay a Ward
[X] Delay, staying in quarantine with Bonesaw until the Twins arrive.
[X] Prayer and Defiant fight Deep Silver in Antarctica.
[X] Give it all to Iris as a 'Welcome Back' gift! There's no way this can go wrong! (Stunt suggests how this goes wrong right.)
[X] Tell the PRT the full extent of SoPA's capabilities, explain what Vision of Vengeance did.
[X] Negotiate to keep Iris in a quarantined area within SoPA range so that he can work and be studied at the same time. Iris ambivalent, PRT still not satisfied but not angry.

OH COME ON!

I go to all the trouble of writing an awesome dynamic entry stunt for FPoP and Defiant fighting totes not evil!Elsa and what do I see? People voting for the stuntless option.

What's the path of least resistance: reading through a bunch of discussion pages, or just posting the voteplan you like?
Not even tagging will drag most people back: Only thing I've seen do so is a situation-changing clarification, like a vote reset or a 'no, this instance of paranoia is stupid', from the QM.
