Alchemical Solutions [Worm/Exalted] Thread 11: Kilning Kaleidoscopic, Kerygmatic Kindred

Replacing the Marrow Stunt:

Dog & Pony Show: (Choose one, one Stunt allowed!)
[X] Peer Pressuring: Talk to a Ward. Visitors possible. Stunt chooses target, sets scene.
-[X] Stunt: A short trip to Boston (and an apology to Triumph) later, you have a talk with Weld. You start by asking about his reaction when he touched your skin last time, but soon enough, you segue into a discussion of his methods and goals.

Final Countdown: (Choose two, one Stunt allowed for each!)
[X] The Maker Wants YOU!: Interview and/or attempt to recruit someone for exaltation. Movers can be utilized to go anywhere in the world for this. Stunt chooses target, interview angle/pitch spin, and if anyone extra is with you.
-[X] Stunt: You recognize Weld, involved in an intense conversation with Marrow in a corner of the room. Curious why the Boston Ward is here in Philly, you approach the duo. It may be your paranoia, but Weld starts guiltily on seeing you, and Marrow...smirks? "Am I interrupting anything?"

[X] The Maker Wants YOU!: Interview and/or attempt to recruit someone for exaltation. Movers can be utilized to go anywhere in the world for this. Stunt chooses target, interview angle/pitch spin, and if anyone extra is with you.
-[X] Stunt: You make your way through the remaining crowds, smaller then it had been but everyone that was left looking all the more desolate, you find Ms. Militia and Armsmaster at the command tent. You had a plan, things you wanted to say, but facing them the first thing that comes to mind is "I need your help".

[X] Free Action: "Dragon?" You say as you look out across the Crater. It brings back memories of the people you have lost, and your voice thickens in your throat. "Could you do me a favor?" In your mind's eye you see them; Iris getting flicked into space by Behemoth, your father trying to murder you, Panacea and the Undersiders walking away.

DEPLOYING ROLL CHECKER
Woop woop! I admit I enjoy your responses/thoughts to various parts aside to just the roll checks (hint hint, landcollector), so this made me happy to see. As for some responses...
veekie said:
Perception + Awareness, Success vs Gust's Stealth. Quite impressive given that if he can control sound he'd be quite silent and he's hiding in a cloud to boot.
Remember the note in the PRT files: his degree/strength of control is dependent on his altitude. We're not even at the high-end of his power at this altitude, but conversely he's significantly weaker down on the ground.
veekie said:
Being high while high in the sky seems inadvisable.
There's not much that can challenge him up here, and there's implication that there's some sensory feedback from his aerokinesis that might play amusingly with inebriation.
veekie said:
You don't "accidentally" hear someone at that distance. Unless he has superman hearing and is high because it helps him deal with the input. Hmm...plausible. Secondary Thinker rating they don't make public because a hearing that good is a massive privacy invasion.
As his PRT file mentioned, he seems to enjoy getting people up to this altitude (hanging out with skydivers and keeping them aloft), so it's more that he detected us and wondered what we were doing.
veekie said:
Might need to revise his rating to add some Shaker and maybe crank that Mover. That's a lot faster than I thought.
The rating is lower since it's only really relevant to his threat-level on the ground. His restricted file would likely have more on this, however.
veekie said:
Sounds like she LIKES training freaks. Figures.
More that people have stopped 'sparring' with her because she's a tad bit overzealous and not many people can take hits from blades like Marrow.
veekie said:
Sounds like Bladedancer's control has nothing to do with the number of blades, but WHERE the blades are, if this is any indication. Many blades but packed into a small area.
veekie said:
Bladedancer's ability limit demonstrated, she can only control only one 'zone' of blades at a time.
Close! Not going to spell it out exactly just yet, but there are far more limits to her power than are immediately obvious - she's also one of the rare capes that has min/maxed her power to hell and back.
veekie said:
Didn't Tatsu already start wearing hers? Not sure if it's a sign of deeper problems
Nope, neither have donned their new costume. This is partly because they're supposed to keep it under wraps until their official reveal next week, but... yeah... issues.
veekie said:
Looks like the teleport is actually area effect.
Frankly, I'm a little surprised people haven't identified the inspiration for this power. Note, it's not EXACTLY like that power (because holy shit that power is broken), but it's close.
veekie said:
Hmm, weird, where the visions are coming from, but I guess it's part of Autochton's message. Why stick to just words? As a Primordial he likely communicates more in concepts than words anyway.
You do not talk with Primordials. They generate impressions in your general direction, and you try to keep your brain from leaking out of your ears.
veekie said:
Did we learn about Prayer benefits here?
Yes.
veekie said:
Mundane utility. Nice.
She can do a lot more than make armor, as noted in a previous update she could fashion swords for Bladedancer.
veekie said:
Need to diversify our armory a bit more. Maybe put a free action towards requisitioning more weapon options. We got more backing now.
Backing can get you the goods, but still gotta clear the red tape to be able to use it in the field.
veekie said:
Marrow sounds like she's developed pretty good hearing, or has a secondary power for that. Maybe she could sense through the bone within a certain range?
Bone hard enough to punch through power armor sounds promising. And she can produce it at will too.
A side effect of the sensory feedback augment to allow her to feel through her exoskeleton - think of it like putting a microphone up against a piece of solid metal.
veekie said:
Bladedancer's ability limit demonstrated, she can only control only one 'zone' of blades at a time.
Endure. Siege. Patience
veekie said:
Truth. Spread truth. Inform everyone. Reveal traitors. Vigilance.
Rule of thumb for translating Armor!Marrow talk: clench your teeth and pull your lips back, then try to talk.

Good work, as usual. +1 XP!
veekie said:
No roll needed since the Charm gives the full data spread without a check, as long as it's activated(the investigation was to notice something off so we'd turn it on). We'd only need the roll if we wanted to purge him of that high.
The charm sub-mod speeds up the diagnosis and provides a lot more information, but our Medicine ability is used to interpret the data we get. It's why we got gibberish when scanning people like Alexandria - it's legible, but we just have no idea what it means.

We only need three more votes for it to win anyway so why not just vote for it?

Tallying now.

Last-minute inspiration! It's how I lived through college!

More seriously, I'll be combining lots of these votes to maximize our face-time with people and I usually opt to take the better-worded versions. Don't worry too much about it.

Zechstein said:

Because if better stunts are developed, people ought to switch to them. The other thing is a bit more personal, which is that I really don't put a lot of esteem in early bandwagon voting. Unfortunately for this quest we've gotten enough momentum and publicity that mindless bandwagoning is something we're going to have to figure out how to deal with.

What's the count for Bladedancer, Marrow (/Weld?), and AM/MM?

I picked the AM/MM stunt that I did because it at least asks them a question/has a goal in mind.

I do want to talk to Bladedancer again...but I think we can confidently put her on our short list even now. But talking to Armsmaster and Miss Militia might yield information that would make it preferable to table their candidacy for another time. Or one of them will just turn us down.
14/18/16 and I don't know, doesn't matter voting's closed.

I'll keep that in mind for next time. My roll checks are usually pretty long and scrolly as is, and I'm not sure if some posters wouldn't be annoyed about the additional length for reactions quotes.

DragonBard said:
Considering the last time people gave reaction quotes, at least a few will probably boo it.
Yeah, but screw those guys. If you don't like it, don't read it.

Oh no. For the purposes of the omake I'm guessing at least Jack and Bonesaw find us interesting.

TL;DR - Peer Pressuring (Twins/Who), Maker Wants YOU! (Marrow/Weld), Maker Wants YOU! (Armsmaster/Miss Militia), [FA] Candidate Research w/ Dragon, Ally (Dragon) ●●●○○, Investigation (Reading People ●○○), Occult (Souls ●○○), [BP] Intelligence ●●●●○

I decided to use the Armsmaster/Miss Militia Stunt that didn't have us blurting out our conversion pitch in the middle of a PRT command center, because we have thus far been trying to keep that information a secret and that Stunt didn't have the overwhelming majority it would have needed to shoot ourselves in the foot like that. Also, uju32's omake just gave us enough to purchase Occult (Souls) specialty.

I'm beginning to think that honestly, seriously Grom is going to have to let some of these votes go through to their logical conclusion before people realize that decisions have consequences.

I mean, you have a whole bunch of people voting to talk to Armsmaster and Miss Militia.
About Class A Grade Secrets.
In the middle of a crowded refugee camp.
After an Endbringer attack has caused who knows how many refugees to trigger, possibly with super-senses.
And where people who have lost everything they own will be looking to make money to supplement whatever the federal government gives in disaster relief.

Right after the incident with Gust hints strongly that eavesdropping is a pretty big danger.
Maybe if the details of what we discuss get sold to a tabloid newspaper and we get to deal with the fallout, people will learn to consider their votes more carefully.
*scowls*
..........
.....
..

Have an omake.
Nono, see, what you do is realize that those people are morons and should thus be treated like small children and power tools - lock the tools up tight to prevent them from getting their grubby hands on dangerous things they're not smart enough to realize pose a danger, and then raise them in a safe and structured environment so that someday they can lead happy and productive lives free of accidental dismemberment.
