The problem I have with focusing on our daughter's social link is that the previous social link upgrade required pretty damn high skill checks. I would prefer that we play it safe and learn more about dragons and their upbringing before trying an advanced social link. Especially since I don't think we've done an advanced social link before.
We don't have time. This is a Week of Strife. It's on a fixed schedule.

"It's gigantic!" Your daughter cries, shielding her eyes from the sun as you dissipate the craft you had utilized to transport you and your daughter. The two of you could hardly have been able to reach the coast in the two day 'trip' that you had taken a leave from the farm for. Say'fai and Singh had protested until you insisted it was a family tradition, and even then they hadn't been pleased. "I can't see the end of it!"

But you know that your daughter needs to see places. That she needs to expand onto the world as a whole rather than simply seeing anyplace that she did not care about as worthless. What better place than the coast, the rim of land skirting the vast uncharted waters towards the west? Not only that, but the towns nearby knew nothing of you or her.

Perfect for your plans.

You call for her, and she heeds you with a glance over her shoulder. Your daughter is very pleased with the closeness of the area to the ocean, you suppose that she finds the massive amounts of water a comforting sign of her ability to kill anything that threatens her, as you do.

"Oh? We're going to do something?" Your daughter questions, a light smile playing upon her lips but her eyes dark towards her form of dress. A simple tunic and leggings with a pair of boots you had… crafted from thin air. That material you recreated most certainly was flexible in its applications. "Does it have something to do with how I'm dressed?"

You give a smile and gesture towards the town. You explain that you remember your previous conversation, and that you had told her that life is difficult and harsh, but given her no example of it. Therefore, you will leave her some money to survive for an entire day at the town.

Seeing that she is frightened by the prospect of being alone, you dutifully relay to her that you went into the town already and get rid of the unsavory characters that may have designs on lost children as herself. You even went as far as to root out the budding branch of a crime syndicate that you came across. It was quite easy to simply make them vanish after your purge of their numbers, and the town is relatively happy of the loss of crime in their area. Which she ought to be able to take advantage of, if she was clever enough.

"I see! This is.. a test!" There is still a slight nervousness about her, but you agree and nod fervently to how she sees your challenge to her. Still, it is due to her wish to do as well as she possibly could and not because you're simply going to abandon her for an entire day. "I'll do my absolute best father!"

You smile at her, and encourage her as she walks towards the town with clear purpose.

[Blue Dragon Empress Skill Checks!]

[Barter: Business: Fail]

You take note of how easily your daughter is swindled of all her money for a few fish.

[Barter: Trade: Fail]

You watch on as she attempts to trade fish for a cloak, failing of course.

[Speech: Persuasion: Fail]

You listen as she attempts to persuade a couple to take her in, it works until she starts actually speaking instead of looking damp, miserable and holding fish in the middle of the street.

[Speech: Intimidation: Fail]

Her attempts to threaten the man who swindled her is met with laughter. You make note to see when that man casts out tomorrow.

[Magic: Elemental: Success-]

You abruptly stop the massive wave about to engulf the entire town and head towards your daughter.

Oh god poor Empress Dragon :(

I hope we weren't expected to make those checks, or if they happened just for comedy purposes.

Well, that was something. It's like a scene from a cartoon!:p

Incidentally, typo. 'Your', not 'our', at the end.

I think the lesson here is that we are teaching our daughter that not every problem can be solved with magic.
You make note to see when that man casts out tomorrow.

Welp, I think we are vindictive enough to seriously hurt this guy in his livelyhood for doing this. And I'm okay with that.

...Father-daughter bonding time?
Zhang is the best father ever!

...I don't know what to say.
Fight, daughter?

Y'know it feels as though the game is unbalanced here. We could have capped out our skills and yet leveling up feels somewhat redundant. It's as though there's a disconnect between skills and level ups.

You know, that crime syndicate must have been awfully surprised when Zhang went to town on their ass for doing nothing more than be at the village nearest the family beach trip.

Like father, like daughter. In every way.

Gods, we really need to start having Bihu and Singh start tutoring our daughter in how to live without being a murderhobo here aren't we?

That's... important, right? I'm sure I read something about murderhobos being bad.
...For the life of me, I can't remember.
Kill them all, Zhang! They hurt your daughter's pinky!

Zhang: Daughter. Do you know why I'm scolding you?
Dragon: I'm sorry! My Elemental Wave was too sloppy, I know!
Zhang: Next time, pay attention. Other than that, good job.
Zhang: *thumbs up*
Zhang: Couldn't have done that better myself.

Alright I sent the request over, though until Spacebattles goes 'tits up' I'll be posting here.

Also: I've got my own backups, but thanks for worrying nonetheless.

Your daughter grumbles about the problems she faced, muttering solutions that you know won't work in the case at hand.

You lightly tussle your daughter's hair, smiling as you she gives a soft scoff. Her arms crossed over her torso and with the light pout, gives off an intense feeling of both delight and worry from you.

You tell her she looks adorable, and that causes her to flush brightly and look to you with great shock.

"T-that hardly has anything to do with-." Your daughter splutters, her cheeks fading a lighter shade of pink. Her arms uncross and she mimics Singh by placing closed fists just a tad above her waist. If anything it is far more endearing, as the slight jut of her slim lips refuse to leave and is framed by the hues of her blush.

[Karma Check: 20: Success]

You wheel her about and encapsulate her in a hug, for a moment she freezes, but it is returned with only the slightest of hesitation on her part. You tell her gently that it was not a test she needed to succeed in, and you remind her that you never said it was a test in the first place.

"B-but, then what was it?" Your daughter looks up to you, her eyes wide though slightly upraised. It is as though tears are about to form, and you lightly brush a thumb across her cheek to hopefully dissuade anymore sorrow from her. "I-I didn't disappoint you? Right?"

You shake your head and smile, telling her that she acted exactly how you expected she would act.

"T-then what was the reason? You could have merely said…" Realization dawns upon her, a sharp inhalation of air issuing a gasp from her slight mouth. Eyes widen… and begin to water as she presses herself into you even further. "…A hard life. This is what you meant, and you didn't merely wish for me to know it be words alone."

You carefully explain that the life she just felt would be the life of a normal person in the empire, and the coppers you just gave her would have been the fruits of maybe a dozen days of hard work. She parts from you, but takes a seat next to you as you settle upon a rock, you take to watching the waves for a few moments, enjoying the soothing sight of a massive amount of liquid death at your disposal.

"…You're mean." Your daughter complains softly a moment afterward, wiping a stray tear from her eye. Then she leans her head against you, softly sighing. "I am but a child, but I have power beyond that of many that I have ever met. You… you mean to teach me in a way that I will remember forever, not just in words or abstract thoughts. You want me to remember… as though you won't be there to remind me. As though one day you won't be at my side."

You look to her in surprise, your focus from the ocean taken away immediately at the accusation leveled upon you.

[] My promise stands, I will be with you forever.

[] It was my honor to raise you, but it took no time to pass before I truly loved you. I knew then that I had to raise you as though you truly are my child, my death taken into account among other things.

[] I don't mean that. (Bad Choice)
