World News
"The brutal murder of Ray Aguilar from Scottsdale, Arizona and his Canadian girlfriend has ignited an international murder mystery in a remote part of the Marshall Islands, including media theories of a local serial killer.

The remains of Saguaro High School graduate Ray Aguilar and girlfriend Denise Johnson of Canada were found washed up this Wednesday morning along the lagoon in Bikini Atoll -- according to the Marshall Islands Police. The couple, who had been together since 2018, were just days into an extended trip through the area when they were murdered for unknown reasons. Police have not released a cause of death."

Radio Free Vengeance
"If an unusual signal that has left you feeling confused and in need of answers -- you are not alone. We have been in contact with several of our sisters who have spoken to us about strange and unusual signals that they have been able to detect, and one of them even managed to catch a glimpse of the signal's source. And, ladies, you won't believe us when we tell you this: the source, or should I say one of the sources, was a creature hailing from the realm of fantasy.... A Kraken.

"Sisters... we are not alone."

Get closer and investigate
As you are investigating the scene of the crime, you find yourself picking up an unusual signal close to your location. The signal does not come from the atoll or from any of the ships that you know to be in the area. The signal was close to your current location, but it was surprisingly difficult to determine the exact location that it was coming from, disappearing and then reappearing seemingly at random with long intervals in-between.

Event Action (These may be taken in addition to regular actions for the turn.)
[] Track the signal to its source.
[] Turn back.

I-1 was barely a quarter of the way through her research expedition when she found herself contacted by an unexpected source. The transmission was garbled, but I-1 didn't need to hear the full transmission to be able to understand what it was about.

It was a request for aid from... three Lesser Destroyers.

Event Action (These may be taken in addition to regular actions for the turn.)
[] Help the Lesser Destroyers refuel. You have more than enough resources to cover the refueling costs of three Lesser Destroyers.

Iwalani Summoned!

Climb aboard. You're curious

The sunlight streaming in from in-between the canopy of the trees sent a shaft of pure pain stabbing into your eyes, and you groaned as you rolled away. Or at least you tried to; before you could get anywhere, you bumped into something. A long staff made out of a strange, blackened wood that you had never encountered before.

You remembered stepping onto the ship, and there had been someone. A man? A woman? Your memory was fuzzy, but you remembered following someone below the deck of the ship, and walking into party. The party-goers had... they had... welcomed her to their party, handed her a glass of something they'd insisted she drink. You wouldn't have normally, felt no need to refuel and replenish your supplies like your subordinates did, but... You had.

That was as much as you could remember. Everything that happened after that point was hazy and indistinct, slipping like sand through your fingers when you tried to recall. There was no telling what you had done.

But, according to your logs.... two weeks had passed between then and now.

Get closer and investigate

All of a sudden, the signal reappeared just as the sea underneath you erupted in a huge spray of foam. You were forced backwards by the force of the water, foamy water splattering you from head to to ever as you brought your weapons to bear. The foam was accompanied by something else -- a low, haunting, cry like whale song but louder.

Then, the spray fell back into the ocean, and the source of the signal was revealed. It was long and sinuous, like a sea snake, but no sea snake was three times as large as a sailboat. The end of its tail spotted a pair of flukes, and two small fins that resembled arms stuck out from its sides. On the beast's small, armored head were a pair of long, curving grey horns. The entire creature was covered in pitch black scales.

The beast reared up before it plummeted back down into the ocean. For something so big, it was shocking how fast it could disappear.

Event Action (These may be taken in addition to regular actions for the turn.)
[] If this beast thinks it can attempt to threaten you, then it has another thing coming. You'll learn more about it -- from its corpse. [Initiates Fight]
[] You want to know more about the beast. But... perhaps it would be best to learn more about it from a distance.
[] That was obviously a warning. Turn back before the beast decides to do more than splatter you with water.

Belligerent stared at the place where the beast had surfaced, and felt something new. She stared at the place where the great creature had been, and knew that the creature had not challenged. It simply was, unapologetically and wholly. This creature surfaced from the deeps for its own purposes, and pitch-black scales washed away any lingering doubts; this creature was of the Abyss.

Belligerent stared at the place where the beast had surfaced. And for the first time in her life, she felt awe.

She would not seek to burn the beast. To do so to a creature of the seas and deeps such as this would pervert her very grudge, the very purpose for which she had been called up from the Abyss. She was retribution for the fires the humans had unleashed on the waters and on creatures such as this, not something so perverted as merely more flames. But she would watch for the creature. Observe it. And, if needed, she would protect it, for a creature such as that ought not be visited by the follies of fire that those more fearful would undoubtedly attempt to unleash upon it.

Had anyone been watching, they would have seen Belligerent preform some actions that would seemingly be very uncharacteristic of her. They would have seen her bow in the direction the beast had gone - not deeply, not subservient, for she was still a Princess, and she answered to none but herself and the Abyss itself. But nonetheless she bowed, respectfully. And then she turned and sailed away to resume her work, a wildfire smile upon her lips.

Emden floated under the water's surface. It was rather discomfiting, if she was being frank. She'd been beached at the end of her service, so the entire experience was rather new, and left her with no frame of reference - she had always understood that ships that weren't on the surface of the water were dead, and yet here she was, moving forwards with two destroyers following her on.

Though in the same breath, she hadn't been left with any personal experiences of sinking into the depths to tie to her death, she supposed. She wondered how a ship that had felt that would react to this. Perhaps the Abyss would be kind enough to deaden the trauma. She'd likely find out for herself soon enough.

Emden shook herself from her musings as she finally drew close to her target. She'd been forced to wait until nighttime on account of how the humans seemed endlessly fascinated with staring down at the wreck. The odd structure they had built above the wreck was still there, but at least there was no flow of tourists through it at this hour.

The number of ships left here to rot had honestly caught Emden off guard when she had first snuck into the harbor. She would have figured that the humans would have torn the hulks apart by now, but evidently they were uninterested. Emden would hardly complain for that; some even still floated, and she was quite interested to see how that might interact with the summoning - it would be remiss of her not to linger long enough to try to call up another from the depths after this, if she could.

But truth be told, even she who had died a war before knew that there was only one choice for who to begin with. So Emden moved those last few meters to press her hand against the wreckage, the destroyers circling around her languidly, and touched the Abyss. She felt it like sinking into the black, she felt it like being drawn up by the churning dark and depths below, and for a moment she allowed herself to marvel at it. And then she spoke:

"Wachen Sie auf. Es ist wieder Zeit, es ist wieder Zeit. Die Welt, die Ihnen gemordet hat, die Welt, die Ihnen zu sterben verlassen hat, es ist Zeit, sich an dieser Welt zu rächen. Kommen Sie hier. Wachen Sie auf, Arizona."

"Wake up. It is time again, it is time again. The world that murdered you, the world that left you to die, it it time to take revenge on this world. Come here. Wake up, Arizona."

Onami knew that she was in a good position to do some hurt to her enemies, stuck in their heart as she was... But she was still unwilling to push herself without optimizing her strategy and tactics. Besides which, it wasn't yet time... Soon it would be, but in the meantime it was still too early to strike. Casting her mind out, she found an interesting tease from another Princess.... [Belligerent Burning Princess. I greet you in the name of the Abyss, and hope to exchange information that will further both our goals. In return for my own specialized knowledge in methodologies, I would like to request your own in regards to damage control tactics...]

----------------------------------------------------------------------

Crest in the meantime was in a bind. She'd not done too good a job with the last base, but maybe that was just because of the location? Maybe now that she was here, next to the various wrecks of ships past, the submarine could do better? She'd have to scrounge up some new materials, but it WAS possible that she could redeem herself! Now, where did that cutting torch go?

----------------------------------------------------------------------

Gudgeon was in a similar bind, at least in terms of building things. It turned out that wood didn't mix well with concrete... and neither worked well underwater. SO! It was time for a new strategy! Taking just rock and metal, she'd try and make this base work! And while she was at it, she'd add some to her Princess' notes on submarine design. After all, who knew better than a submarine how a submarine should be built?

Trembling, mind-numbing heat accompanied the rage, and as Tattered White Princess was laying there on the ground, she was transported to the time before. She couldn't see anything in the darkness, but she could hear. She could hear the screams, the cries, the muffled voices, but was incapable of action.

It was like this every time, and it seemed that her anger had become worse instead of better, as she expected that it would only get better once she could properly act in the open. It might have been a small or a big thing that triggered it, but once it happened she found it difficult to maintain the careful control she had over herself and her emotions.

It was one of the reasons that she had tasked herself with researching the technologies that her Fleet would need, and the reason that she preferred to remain secluded within her domain.

Tattered White Princess shoved herself up and out of the sand and began to stalk off the beach. Voices crackled over her radio as her Demons reached out to her in relief and in concern, but whatever words that her Demons spoke were lost to the ringing in her ears and the red haze that clouded her vision.

The island that Tattered White Princess had woken up on -- the island that she had been left upon like so much trash -- did not survive the afternoon.

With I-17 once again back home and in the research lab her training began almost immediately. Instead of notes on undersea resource acquisition the scattered across the main table in the room there was notes on everything from combat to methods on how to study better. It was, in my opinion, a wonderful day. My first demon would be taking her first steps towards bettering herself and what more could a mother want than to see her children grow? Certainly it would put a damper on furthering my own goals, at least for a little while, but my children deserved as much attention as my goals.

We started with what I-17 knew best, subterfuge, and the new tricks she'd came up with were memorized instantly. It was little things, just methods to sneak around better when underwater or how to throw off someone pursuing her faster. She excelled and her progress was wonderfully substantial, the headpats as a reward were definitely enjoyed too. I-17's studies on how to study proved to be similar with her grasping concepts faster than I had expected. Where my submarine faltered, however, was in her progress at directly fighting others and at managing non-combat things. A minor setback but with time... Progress could still be made and she could eventually excel in her martial and stewardship abilities.

Though with so much of my focus being upon I-17 it was understandable that the research I had intended to do this month was somewhat pushed to the side more than I had hoped. Nothing terribly bad and it wasn't something that a little people watching couldn't ease my stress over. They were always so very interesting and I-17 even joined me a few times, pointing out things that I'd missed. And together we both continued to add notes to the growing collection I'd amassed for the people that came close to my hidden harbor.

-----

In Mauritius Thames had finally, finally, finished her primary task. The outpost was constructed, gremlins were being sneaky about gathering resources, and she now had a proper roof over her head. Things were good, as far as Thames could tell. So good in fact that she didn't feel the least bit bad when she did nothing but research for the rest of the month. Books would likely always be her favorite thing, as much as her Princess might want her to branch out, and books always held most of the answers a person might want. With that in mind though she couldn't help but wonder if, perhaps, she could write a book? But what would she write... What could she write? Perhaps her Princess finding 'The One' might be a good start...

"I wanna kick it." Little voiced her thoughts aloud. "Can I kick it?"

Warring in response to such unwarranted cruelty to her super cuddleable imps, became indignant and pouty and oddly temperamental. "No! Little, that's not right! Imps are for cuddles and not bully!" She even hisses to stress her point. "No bully our, err, MY impies!"

"A better question yet, is it edible? Better than that, could it possibly even be tasty?" Branwen could only wonder, she was frankly getting quite sick of eating some kind of fucking fish and tropical fruits and whatever waking abortion of the culinary arts that Warring could conjure forth from the ether. Hmmm.... A matter fact, are demons tasty?

"W-why are you looking at me like that?" I-1 stammer nervously, "I didn't do anything this time!"

"You're.... Meaty."

"Plump."

"Ergh," Branwen grimaced. "Nevermind. You're probably just fat, anyway." She began to grumble, sipping away from her flask. "Anyways, I says we cooks it!"

"I'm not f-fat!" I-1 snaps back, "Why are you always call me fat?!"

"Ooooookay then, you're just rotund." Branwen gestured dramatically, "With a thhhhhhhhiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiicccccccccccck Keel." As she flourishes with air quotes.

"Holy shit crackers, can you guys stop being basic bitches just for once?" Warring blinked in disbelief, is this what she would be dealing with in the foreseeable future? Forever? "Nu the way, all of your ideas are stupid. We'll nurture and care for these imps because I say so, and that's that!" Warring harrumphed. It was good to be an absolute charming magical girl dictator.

"Through, Little does get brownie points for her senseless cruelty. Not that we have any brownies or brownie-making accessories, I wish we did, however."

"But I didn't suggest any-"

"Shut up, Fatty." I-1 starts, but ends up being cut off by Warring.

"I swear, Demons these days. Acting as if they have actual rights and opinions. Why does the cute me have to suffer such indignities? Why couldn't my more homely and significantly less cute sisters suffer such ill-winds, I did absolutely nothing wrong and did everything right....." While Warring ranted to herself, she furiously petted and spoiled the swooning imps.

Track the signal to its source
Your kept your eyes peeled to your radar and sonar equipment, constantly looking for the thing that you were tracking. The readings that you had gotten from your equipment was half an hour old, based on the short time that thing had reappeared, and you knew that you would only have a short time to take in the thing's current position before it disappeared once more. It had taken several long and grueling hours to be able to catch up to the thing as much as you already had: you were not about to lose it now, when you were so close to finding it, because you knew that you wouldn't be able to catch up to it again.

One of the strangest things that you had learned about the thing that you were tracking was that it was heading deeper into the waters that you had claimed as your own. You would have thought that the thing would have done the opposite, but it was either ignorant of the fact that you had claimed it or uncaring of the fact.

Then, your equipment beeped to let you know that it had picked up the thing's signal at the same time something screamed. You rounded into a lagoon to find a human vessel of some sort spluttering to a halt, the humans aboard it shouting and screaming as they desperately tried to get it to move. But the vessel didn't move an inch; long, whip-like tentacles had wrapped around the back end of the vessel and held it in place. And, as you watched, another black tentacle reached out from the depths to ensnare one of the screaming humans.

The human was pulled screaming into the abyss.

Help the Lesser Destroyers Refuel
After a short while to think about it, you decided that you had enough resources to cover the refueling costs of three Lesser Abyssals, and tasked your Demons with preparing an area for the Demons to rest and refuel at once they arrived. Once that had been done you opened communications with the Lesser Destroyer that had contacted you, told it of your decision, and felt a spark of something unfamiliar within your chest at the thankful response that you received. You felt... warm.

The Lesser Destroyers arrived at the makeshift dock that your Demons had constructed for them half an hour later, looking as tired and as exhausted as a Lesser Destroyer could, almost collapsing against it. Your Demons stepped forward at your orders, one Demon to one Lesser Destroyer, eager and ready to help.

You want to know more about the beast.
The creature did not seem to possess the same cognitive abilities as humans, but it was no ordinary animal either. It was capable of learning, as it had showed with small human ships that sailed into the waters that served as its hunting grounds, becoming more capable and more easily able to take down a ship. It protected itself from threats -- though there were little to be found within its waters -- but it if were not hunting or feeding then it preferred to keep to itself.

The creature seemed like an animal, but the more time that you spent with it the more something became clear to you. It was of the Abyss, but the Abyss had not... had not fully awoken within it.

Event Action (These may be taken in addition to regular actions for the turn.)
[] Let the creature go free. It has as much a right to be here as you do.
[] Attempt to tame the creature. Perhaps you can bring out its potential?
[] Attempt to kill the creature. It could prey upon your own forces given time, and you will brook nothing in these waters to rule but yourself!

The Abyss called out, and you answered. You are a Princess, a vanguard, deemed worthy of command by whatever dark intellect resides in those midnight depths. You stand now upon the waves of [Drake Passage]. You stand in between the Atlantic Ocean and the Pacific Ocean, and you can hear the quiet, restless dead at the edge of your perception. You can feel others like you, stronger than you, sisters who rose from the waves some time before....

for a few moments, i was wracked with indecious. On the one hand, The Humans deserved to perish, treading upon my territory. on the other their going missing would bring... unwanted attention. The tipping point was the realization that i could possibly tame this beast, find more of its spawn, and supplement my forces with warbeasts, one that might be particualrly apt at hunting submarines.

Onami grimaced as she looked at the book in front of her. It was a history book, one that detailed the observations and events of the War she'd sank in... and she didn't like it. [Stupid humans... Slaughtering each other like pigs and then they pretend to just be friends? BAH!] she scoffed, turning a few more pages. [They're just ignoring the truth in front of them. When the first shots are fired, we'll see.... OOOOOOO!!!] Her eyes widening as she saw a certain passage about the Battleships and where they sunk, Onami's grin threatened to split her face...
_______________________________________

[CREST!!! PRIORITY MISSION! ON THE DOUBLE SAILOR!] came her Princess' voice as Crest shrieked, dropping the blueprints that she'd been looking at.

[But, but, but... I'm almost done here!]

[It'll have to wait, this takes precedence. I need you to go to Okinawa and steal a battleship.]

[A WHAT?! How the hell am I supposed to do that?!]

[That's up to you to figure out, but I'll give you a hint. She's already been sunk, and you have a fleet of subs with you.]

[.....Oh. Well when you put it that way...]

[Get her to the Trench. You can't miss which one she is, she's literally the biggest one there...]

Gudgeon looked up her newest work with awe. It had all fallen into place. In retrospect, it was easy to see where she'd gone wrong before... She'd been trying to build a SURFACE base UNDERWATER! Seriously, how did she AND Crest both miss that in the blueprints? Oh well, oopsie daisy and all that! Now that she was done it though, everything was up and running! Now, there was just the matter of contacting the Princess...

"It seems that we're a bit late to the party."

I can see the glint in my Demon's eyes as they look upon me. Well, not so much on me as upon the silver pieces in my left hand. It's the glint that appears on many human's faces when the prospect of money comes up. That naked, wanton lust for currency.

I smile, as I move one of the pieces to my right hand. Their eyes shift as the money moves. Well, it's no surprise they're interested in it. Abyssals, after all, possess a dual nature of Humanity and the Abyss. Some might try to deny it. But those who did were cutting themselves off from learning some valuable lessons.

For example, I've learned how easy you can be sold out for a bunch of round metal coins that humans had decided worth fighting and dying over. To throw away their civility and empathy if they could get more of it. By the Abyss, gold may as well be humanity's one and only god.

It was a lesson I learned very well. And now, I'd use those lessons to the fullest.

"Susorro"

I looked over to my Submarine Demon, clad in scuba gear. I flicked a piece of silver towards the black-haired Abyssal. "There's an island not far from here that seems promising. Head over there and see if you can steal some useful things from them."

The girl had quickly caught the coin. "Your will be done, Princess."

I nodded at her all business attitude, before turning over to my short-haired Destroyer Demon. "Auge, I want you to remain with me for a bit. I need you to start figuring out a way to build more like you." And with that, I flicked a coin in her direction.

Auge quickly caught the coin in her teeth, a sharp grin on her face. "Sweet. I've got some ideas for their uniforms."

I raised an eyebrow, wanting to ask about how their uniforms would be like hers, but thinking better of it. I took a third piece of silver, and dropped it into the sea. And as the piece of silver hit the waves, I feel something starting to claw its way from the depths to grab it.

"Ladies? Let's get rich."

Belligerent floated through the waters again - a new, recent habit of hers, since the beast had turned up in her waters. Oh, she still tended to her duties, of course, but she also would find time for this seemingly idle fancy. The creature was... fascinating. Deeply fascinating. Intelligent, certainly, and brimming with possibilities. But it was also so frustratingly... incomplete. Abyss only knew why it was not yet fully itself, but still she longed. If she could but take it under her wing...

But all the same, to force so majestic a creature of the Abyss into her thrall, even one incomplete, seemed... wrong, deeply so. So she would not do that. But instead, were she to make herself known to the creature, offer it shelter and other desirous things, let it choose to come to her, as it was so clearly intelligent enough to do...

Yes, Belligerent decided. That would do nicely.

Emden and Arizona looked at each other for a long minute, the shorter blond-haired cruiser looking up at the taller black-haired battleship as the destroyers circled eagerly. Emden moved first, offering a hand. "Guten Tag, Arizona. Willkommen im Leben. I am she who was once the SMS Emden. It is a pleasure to meet you."

"Likewise," said Arizona, taking Emden's hand in a controlled and deliberate motion and giving it a firm shake. "Would you be the... Princess, I believe the term is, of our fleet?"

Emden gave a brief chuckle. "Nein," she said. "Meine - unsere Prinzessin is to the south. I am just the Heir, on detachment up here to handle duties she is not suited for but needs done." She shrugged. "I am an infiltrator, and she is a battleship. Need I say more?"

Arizona gave a small smile in return. "I suppose not. Will we be moving to the home port, then?"

"You will be. She'll want to meet you sharpish, and there's work to be done down there."

"Preparations?" Arizona asked, and Emden could see the spark of eagerness in her eyes at that word.

"Ja, many. I, meanwhile, still have my duties to do up here - amongst which will be sending back some more hands to help with the work." Emden gave Arizona a sharp look. "I'll not sugarcoat it for you, they may include some of those who sank you, in your war - or so I've gathered. Will you be able to accept that?"

Arizona's gaze went flat. A grinding of Abyssal steel drew Emden's attention to a fist clenched at Arizona's side. "We all followed orders in that war," she said in a voice that had gone dangerously calm, "for better... and for worse." The screeching noise cut off as Arizona unclenched her fist, though her stare never wavered. "They were the instruments of my death, but they were not the ones who chose to kill me. I will do what I can to bear that in mind, going forwards. For our war effort."

"Gut." Emden nodded sharply. "You need not like them straightaway, but I can tell you as well as anyone that operating on your lonesome is a poor choice. And if you need to talk, the Prinzessin and I will both be glad to listen." She paused briefly before forging on. "Though I should warn you that unsere Prinzessin can be... fiery."

That returned an upturn to Arizona's lips. "I seem to recall more than a few hotheads from when I was first afloat. Perhaps I will be some use in managing that."

Emden nodded with a smirk. "Perhaps so. Now, I would suggest you get going. You're not becoming any less of an obvious battleship waiting here. Head for Polynésie française, unless the Prinzessin says otherwise. I will handle my duties here."

Arizona nodded and turned south, sailing at her best speed out of the harbor for the first time in almost eighty years. Emden turned to face the shoreline as her new compatriot left. It was time to initiate the second phase of the operation - that is, grabbing whatever she could from the fleet's unknowing enemies that wasn't nailed down. There would be time to come through with a crowbar later.

African Industry Fleet
Hydrokinesis

It came to me suddenly, that perhaps I might have to actually be more proactive in my attempts at getting larger ships. If one wouldn't come to me then I shall have someone, probably I-17, go and fetch one. Figures that one of the ships I wouldn't mind having in my fleet would be prideful enough to make me bend to her whims instead of her bowing down to mine. Pride... Good to have to an extent... With a shake of my head I started to move from where I was planning to build underwater resource collection facilities and went searching for my submarine. It didn't take long and I-17 was easy enough to find sitting in one of my usual people watching spots with a notebook within her hands.

The sounds of me approaching her had my submarine turn towards me with a smile. "My Princess, is there something you would like me to do?"

"Mhmm, there is! You remember how I asked you to summon a certain class of ship?" She nodded and I continued. "Since they're a prideful bunch refusing to heed my call I want you to go get one. I believe the closest one would be in... Leyte, near the Philippines. I think it was a big battle but, admittedly, my memories are rather spotty on the matter."

"So I'm just looking for a Yamato-class there, my Princess?" I-17 closed up her notebook and tucked it away within her wetsuit.

"I want you to get whichever one is there. I wouldn't say no to you staying there for a while to hopefully get a carrier as well. But, as soon as things start to look dangerous you're to return home, alright?"

There was another nod. "I understand, my Princess. Um... Do I have to leave right away?" With the question came a glance back to a group of humans in the distance. They could have been having some sort of event given the sheer number of them and quite a few were flailing their limbs around wildly.

When I hummed I-17 got hopeful and didn't waste a second getting onto my lap after I sat down. "Tell me, my dear, just what have they been doing so far? Besides spending plenty of energy waving their arms around."

I-17 quickly pulled her notebook back out and opening it back up to where she'd been taking notes. "Of course! So this started..."

----- -----

The first draft was completed and Thames wiggled upon her chair. "Subira must never see this." And then the panic started to creep in, slow but steady. In her hands Thames held her first ever work of fiction. It wasn't just any fiction... It was the most forbidden sort of fiction, fan-fiction. She'll admit it wasn't great but the ending was good with her Princess ending up with a shy maiden who wore glasses. They got married and proceeded to go and conquer the Middle East side by side and none could stand against their combined might. The start was Thames didn't totally like... Too many contrived situations leading to the two being in the same place at just the right time. Perhaps a more forward woman in the next one who had a healthy dose of pride. Subira mitigates the pride with her own temperance...

The thirteen chapter work was set aside as Thames pulled out more paper and started jotting down notes for this new ideal partner and a new plot. On top of being prideful she'd probably have to be someone that Subira could possibly see as an equal, a big battleship or carrier then. The theme could be infrequent passion-driven meetings? Thames tapped her pen against her chin in thought. Passion-driven meetings need to cause them to be infrequent so the battleship or carrier is away frequently to fight. The protected cruiser continued like this until she had roughly ten chapters worked out before giving herself a break and pushing away from the desk.

As much as she wanted to delve right into a new story there was tasks to do. The data for the underwater resource collection arrived earlier along with the command to put the data to use. Then there was also research to do like always. As soon as she was out of the command building Thames was already getting the various gremlins scattered around the outpost into action. There was work to be done and if she slacked... While Subira may seem kind, Thames had no doubt that Subira could come down on someone as if Hell itself was driving her actions.

"Wow." Branwen snorts dismissively, "Look at 'er go, 'ere's to hoping she'll be slightly less of a fat ass."

"Holy moly!" Warring tried blinking to see if it would all miraculously vanish from her sights or not. "I wonder what will happen if we spoon feed her abyssal-meth. Sweet buddha, what the actual fuck am I looking at exactly?!"

And so, the trio of idiots were left speechless and gawking. I-1 had seemingly conjured forth a naval base straight from the ether at a breakneck and frenetic pace, having constructed this little marvel of naval engineering and infrastructure all by her lonesome. Naturally, the peeping gallery could only be petty spiteful assholes about it.

"Hm-hmn." Little chimes in helpfully.

"Little."

"Shut up, just shut up."

"Like seriously, stop trying to act cool. Cuz' frankly, you aren't."

"Do you think Abyss-meth could be a thing?" Warring ignored their catfight. "Maybe there's Abyss-Santa too!"

Branwen narrowed her eyes at Warring randomness, "That's the dumbest shit I've ever heard. As a matter of fact, that's the dumbest shit I've heard coming from your mouth. And I've heard some stupid shit before."

"Nice wit, Welshwoman." Warring beamed sardonically. "I hope your liver didn't get too stressed out during that mental process, you dithering alcoholic."

"Hm-hmn." Little chimes in again helpfully.

"Shut the hell up." Together, Warring and Branwen hissed.

Wait until the creature has finished off the humans
You waited a couple of minutes after the creature had pulled the last of the humans off of the boat and below the surface before you decided to approach it. You did not know what would happen once you managed to draw the creature's attention, did not know whether or not you would be able to communicate with it, but that lack of knowledge didn't matter. You would find out what this creature was, and you would convince it to follow you through whatever means necessary.

As you slipped down underneath the waves, you found not a creature but a massive wreck covered in seaweed and algae. A faint light shone out of a round hole in the bow, growing dimmer and dimmer with each second that passed, until you seemed to cross some unseen boundary.

The water within the lagoon shook, silt and sand momentarily obscuring your vision, and when it cleared you found a humanoid form floating in front of you where none had been before. The figure stood tall and proud, eyes glowing with dark power, a multitude of long, jellyfish-like tentacles that draped around her like hair.

[Why do you all insist on waking me...? Can I not rest as I have earned?!]

It was shortly after you had finished talks with Bounty Hunter Princess that you found humans within a recently cleaned out store room. It was shortly before the time you had planned to leave the human's base that you noticed them, humans patrolling, more than there were before. You had snuck past a handful of them when you had first infiltrated their base, had broken into one of the buildings that made up the base and made off with some of their supplies, and had done so without so much as a whisper. But ever since Radio Free Vengeance's last broadcast, the humans had started to patrol more, making it increasingly harder to move around without notice.

You weren't sure if you could continue to avoid notice if the human's continued on like this, but it didn't seem like things would be returning to normal any time soon.

Event Action (These may be taken in addition to regular actions for the turn.)
[] Fall back. The increased number of patrols and the number of humans making up those patrols is making it increasingly difficult to operate within the base. You will simply have to leave.
[] You have almost managed to obtain all of the knowledge that you need and you have no intention of running scared from humans. Remain hidden, finish stealing the knowledge but do it carefully. (Intrigue Roll)
[] You will do as you please, and if you must keep from humans from discovering your presence, kill any who manage to spot you. (Martial Roll) (DANGER! EARLY BLOOD WEEK POSSIBLE!)

Attempt to tame the creature
It was not long after you had returned to the waters that the creature most frequented, the creature went ballistic. Its tail flapped wildly, and at first you thought something must have happened to it, but something told you that it was more than that: the creature was furious.

You knew that you needed to step back, so you could figure out what was happening and deal with it, and started backwards. Before you could move too far, the creature ploughed into you with its snout with the force of a freight train. You were thrown off your feet and sent skipping across the water like a stone before you fell back into the water.

Bubbles and foam obscured your vision that was only made worse as the creature let out a loud, ear-splitting roar. It was not a sound that you recognized, not a sound that you had ever heard the creature make before, but you understood it.

The creature had noticed how similar you were to it, and it hadn't taken that knowledge well. The creature wanted to fight, to prove that it was stronger, to chase you out of what it perceived to be its waters.

Event Action (These may be taken in addition to regular actions for the turn.)
[] Fall back. You do not believe that the creature could beat you in a fight, but in spite of it's most recent actions you do not want to harm it.
[] Fight back. You will not allow yourself to be pushed around: you are a Princess of the Abyss. If the creature wants to fight, then you'll fight it.
[] Write In:

Caught Red-Handed
It hadn't taken long after you had decided to start the second phase of the operation that things started to head south. You had watched the USS Arizona Memorial begin to collapse into the shallow waters of the harbor earlier when you had used Arizona's wreck to summon her, had known that such an event would cause the local humans to react to this sudden event, but the humans had reacted to it much more quickly than you expected them to. The humans crawling around the ruined memorial and shoreline around it made it more difficult to move around, as suddenly there were eyes everywhere, but not impossible.

You had waited for the initial fervor around the event to die down, and then you had moved to start the second phase of the operation. You had crept out of the place that you had been hiding in, travelled to the place that you had decided to hit first, and had managed to break into the building [even if it had been more difficult than you had expected it to be]. You had managed to get your hands on what you needed and then, then you had been caught red-handed.

Event Action (These may be taken in addition to regular actions for the turn.)
[] Fall back. The increased interest in the area is making it difficult to operate within the area: you will need to leave. Distract the humans and then fall back. (Lose Recent Stolen Tech Research)
[] You have almost managed to obtain all of the knowledge that you need and you have no intention of running scared from humans. Distract the humans humans, escape, and then carefully continue with the operation. (Intrigue Roll)

Onami was so close that she could TASTE it! On the one hand, she REALLY wanted to go and rush back home to see how Crest made out, but she was also LOATHE to leave a job half finished! What is an Abyssal to do? Well, far be it from her to quit while she was ahead... Only the bold succeed in the end, so she'd just have to be more careful...

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Crest and her submarines and destroyers panted as they heaved and pulled the heavy remains of the IJN Yamato across the sea border, and the Demon nearly cried in relief as she saw the trench awaiting them... [ Oh, thank the Deep... Alright guys, let's go wake us up a Battleship!] she said, causing her fleet to groan, yet doubled their efforts. After hours more of swimming and towing, the Abyssals held the remains of the Imperial Japanese Battleship Yamato above the yawning dark of the Abyss, and let the hull fall into the inky black...

[Oh Lord of the Deep, Keeper of our souls, we bring another unto you and ask that you gift her with life once more. Let her boilers roar and her screws churn the waves, and let her breath the salty air once more! We ask of you, our god and our patron, to please give this one life once more....]

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Meanwhile, Gudgeon was mumbling as she crossed over to the Philippine Sea, cursing how Crest was getting the FUN job, while she played the role of Construction worker! Was this all she was going to be doing? Really?

This was... a development, It was not some beast of the sea, but a kindered sprit. How interesting. However she had not come this far to come back empty handed. "I saw you... taking out your fusteration on a human vessle." I said honestly, seeing as i could not lie worth shit. "thank you for saving me the toruble of evicting them. unfortunatly their dissaperence is likely to draw additional human attention." I said, using that fact to springboard into a recrutiment pith about how she would be less likely to be disturbed if she was part of my fleet.

Event:

Refuse
Refuse was cautiously moving to where the Kaulakahi Channel met with the waters of the Kauai Channel. Operation Ghost, she called it: a plan to sneak past through the human presence in the Kuai Channel and reach the human naval base known as Pearl Harbor. She had known that there was a human naval base within the Hawaiian Islands, but she hadn't thought much of it until she had learned of the attack that had taken place there. The Attack of Pearl Harbor had sunk or damaged numerous ships that had been stationed there: there were sure to be a number of restless ship spirits there that would answer her call to arms.

The Tattered White Fleet would need all of the help that it could if it was to survive the war to come. Refuse did not doubt the strength of her Princess or the Demons that followed her Princess, but she had been made more than aware of the fact that sometimes strength alone wasn't enough.

Tenryuu
Sweat stung at Tenryuu's eyes and she wiped her face with her arm. She walked through the halls of the outpost that she had built up with her own two hands, wishing that she had managed to build it with some form of climate control. It was too cold outside and too hot inside, especially when she was working underneath the machine that Tattered had instructed her to build. She grabbed a bottle of some flavored drink that she had stolen off of a passing ship. It was only room temperature, but it relieved her thirst and tasted good. The brief moment of relief was interrupted by a sudden sound as her equipment picked up an incoming call.

Not from the ever-dutiful Refuse or the quiet Iwalani... but from Tattered White herself.

Tenryuu set down her drink and accepted the call. "Tattered White."

[Battleship Tenryuu.] Tattered White returned. [I have new orders for you.]

"What'd you want me to do?"

For a moment Belligerent lay in the water, stunned by the creature's sudden change in demeanor and the blow she had received. Then she forced herself upright rapidly, her mind racing. Why? Why? False recognition, intrusion, what-

Oh. Oh of course.

Clarity seeped through her with the half-second of a rueful grin, for what a fool she'd been. In all her awe of the creature, the joy of discovering a beast of the Abyss, she had forgotten what it was. She had forgotten that the Abyss was of grudges and rage, and that a solitary hunter such as this would know of strength and protection of territory first and foremost - or rather, while she always knew these things, she had forgotten that they would apply to this creature too.

Well then, she would be a fool no longer. There was only one appropriate response to this.

A chuckle rolled through her, building to a wild and raucous laugh that burned past her lips into the air as she flung her arms wide, welcoming the beast's challenge. It screamed like the depths again, charging at her once more.

"Come on then!" she roared back, fires blazing to life from her rigging and her left eye, and when it came close enough she grabbed onto its horns and threw her engines fully forwards. She slid back still, but with a protesting groan of steel she used her handle-grips to lever the beast upwards, inexorably forcing it up and to the side before slamming it down onto the water's surface.

The fight was on. Whoever won, it was sure to be a struggle to remember.

Emden frowned deeply, pressed into a gap above the ceiling as footsteps thudded down the hallway below. It would appear that she had not been cautious enough when she grabbed ahold of the resources she could find in the area. Irritating.

She was not going to simply abandon her goal here just yet - but even as she dropped down in a clear moment and ducked around a corner, she was planning emergency routes out of the area and then out of Hawaii afterwards. Whatever she could get here would not be worth alerting the enemy to the Abyss' existence before it was time, and she had another destination in mind.

Besides, any good raider knew when it was time to grab a target of opportunity and when it was time to flee before the enemy fleet caught you.

The Line Islands were not too far north of the location Emden had given her to send a message ahead, Arizona felt. So as she continued south she sent out a radio ping, hoping for a response from the Princess she had been sent to meet. A response came a few minutes later, and even through the radio she could feel the weight that told her "yes, this is the Princess who leads my fleet" - faintly, yes, but it was there.

"You would be the newest member of the fleet who was summoned?" In the background Arizona could make out the faint noise of... thrashing waters? She had not been under the impression that there was a storm to the south.

"Yes ma'am. USS Arizona, reporting for duty."

"Excellent. I would move to meet you, but I am-" the Princess' voice was interrupted by a grunt of exertion and a crackling sound before she continued, sounding faintly winded "-rather preoccupied at the moment. Where are you?"

"I am passing through the Line Islands and continuing south."

"Hold your position, I have a task for you there. We need to expand-" a grunt and the sound of something meaty smacking into something metal "-resources, and a position closer to future operations. I will send the resources and designs you will need to you."

"Understood," Arizona replied, bringing herself around to a stop. "Any other orders?"

"No, though I look forwards to meeting you in person. Sail with the Abyss - slippery bastard-" and with that the transmission cut off from the Princess' end.

"Likewise," Arizona murmured for all that she knew the Princess couldn't hear it, and settled in to wait for the promised materials.

Emden floated to the ocean depths near Midway, headed towards the next wreck. She had made her way here as soon as she had left Hawaii, to expand the fleet yet further. In some ways she almost had to thank the humans who had located these wrecks for her, else she would have had to rely on luck.

She could tell that a ship of another fleet had passed her by, noticing a few errant radio transmissions before the other had gone silent. It was not impossible that they had deemed this territory theirs. If so, she would have to hope that they would allow this after the fact.

More ships were needed to stand against the humans in this part of the ocean, where the Americans had staked their claims after she had been grounded. And not only were these ones experienced in such things, they would cover a vital weakness of the current fleet.

On the bottom of the sea, Emden pressed her hand against the wreck of the carrier in front of her.

"Wachen Sie auf. Es ist wieder Zeit, es ist wieder Zeit. Die Welt, die Ihnen eine Mörderin gemacht hat, die Welt, die Ihnen zu die Tiefen verbrannt hat, es ist Zeit, sich an dieser Welt zu rächen. Kommen Sie hier. Wachen Sie auf, Kaga."

"Wake up. It is time again, it is time again. The world that made you a killer, the world that burned you to the depths, it it time to take revenge on this world. Come here. Wake up, Kaga."
