The year is 2020...

Humanity struggles by, as it always has, yet in the depths of the ocean, things are awakening that may have been best left asleep.

The spirits of the lost, in war, in fire, from the darkness of the Abyss they cry out.

Avatars of the Fallen rise and prepare to wreak destruction upon the waves.


This is... A Labour of Love, as well as something of an Alpha. Around half a year ago now (and gods it's crazy to believe it's really been that long) this snippet was posted as part of the ongoing 'Harry and the Shipgirls' thread, about a fictional mod for Crusader Kings II that had the players as Abyssal princesses, fighting humanity as well as each other to take over the ocean.

It was followed up by sequels. Here and Here, but even before those, I found myself inspired by the idea. It seemed like fun! And I knew that CKII style systems had been adapted for use on this forum before. How hard could it be to make something of my own and turn this dream into reality?

The fact that it's been six months since the initial snippet should tell you a lot about the answer to that question.

However. I have persevered, I have struggled and cried and grit my teeth, and I have...

Well... I haven't finished per se. But the result so far seems to be playable?

This is very much an Alpha, mechanics-wise, but I'm at the point that without greater exposure, without time to playtest and balance and see how the system works in actual play, I'm kinda stuck.

Yes I know it's only the pacific. I considered adding the Atlantic but the complexity multiplier was giving me conniptions just thinking about it so for now this is it. Maybe next time around.

At present, the plan is to have turns go over once a week, so each player has time to communicate and plan before posting their intentions. Once ever two weeks may work better though, so we'll switch to that if necessary.

And please please keep in mind this is my first time running a Grand Strategy RP. I'm probably missing things, or overlooking things that are important. I've done my best to cover the bases I've been able to see, but... Be gentle okay? I want to make this thing work, so if I'm missing something, say so.

Grudge: Humans thinks of themselves as superior beings among rest of the mortals, created by God. True, in some sense, they are. Almighty has given them the superior mind to pet even the king of the jungle but her existence in itself is there to disapprove both in the God they worship and Humanity itself from their supposed superiority.

Grudge: She could have been Queen of the sea, could have ruled the waves and been the head of an Empire... but her creators were arrogant, short sighted, and craven. They tore her apart to attempt a quick-fix to their problem and only failed more spectacularly. Now she has returned, taking a name of her own to conquer the seas of her makers and show them how it SHOULD be done...
