[X] ...You saw a pistol in one of your hands. it seemed like one of those old ones that required to reload after every shot. You knew that this one wasn't going to need that.(1d5, does not need to recharge, elemental shots available from the beginning)
[X] ...You saw a dagger in one your hands. it was sharp, short, silent and quick. You knew you were going to need it. (1d6, +4 damage enemies taken by surprise)
[X] ...You saw a musket in one of your hands. it was great for the distance, and every reload was filled with power. Power you knew that you were going to need it.(1d10, needs to recharge after a shot, elemental shots so far unavailable)
[X] ...You saw a shortsword in one of you hands. the blade was sharp, and it was going to announce itself to the world by cutting this beast. You knew you were going to like that.(1d8, increases damage by landing consecutive attacks)
[X] ...You saw a spear in one of your hands. It was perfect to stab your enemies at a distance. You knew you would find it useful.(1d10, +2 bonus to magical attacks)
You were somewhat surprised (and a little bit dazed, to be honest) to see a pistol and a dagger appearing in your hands, seemingly being willed into existence out of nowhere, but so far this whole day had made so little sense that you felt too tired to really be able to truly feel surprised about this development.
Same with your clothes, who also appeared out of nowhere, and left you wondering for a second what had happened to your other clothes (not that it would matter, considering that they must be both torn to shreds and splattered with blood), and if you had been stripped to make space for this whole new set.
You also noticed that your new clothing and these weapons had a same color scheme; gold and silver all over.
With that thought, you also noticed that your injuries, whom you were completely sure were either lethal or crippling, had almost vanished; not all of them, far from it, you could still feel pain as you looked at you body, but the most brutal and dangerous of them had been healed... Much to your relief.
You were brought back from your thoughts by the same monster who attempted to kill you, whom you had admittedly forgotten about in favor of the clothing and weapons and the disappearance of your injuries.
With that thought, you glared at the monster from your position; it had attempted to kill you, and had almost succeeded, but now you felt more capable than ever to push back against it.
??? Initiative Vs Asuka Initiative (D20): 10 Vs 15!
You lunged at it; you didn't knew how strong it was, but you believed that being both stabbed and shoot at point blank at the same time should be enough to at least faze it
In that moment, three things became known to you:
One, you were... different from moments ago; not only your injuries, but your body.... you felt stronger, faster, way faster than ever before, and that's counting that you were far from a slouch when it came to running fast before.
Two, this thing was slow. Really slow, you were sure that you could have outran it if it weren't for that screech it gave that stunned you.
And three, that thing was about to give that same screech again.
You stabbed the thing before it were able to screech again, you hit it in it's head, from where that orange light came from, and then proceeded to shoot it with your pistol as many times as you could.
You were quite satisfied when it gave a screech of pain when you stabbed it.
You were even more satisfied when it exploded into smoke and shadows as you shoot at it with your gun.
You took a moment to look around you, to see if anything like the monster you just killed was close and ready to take a shot at vengeance from their lost... sibling?
When nothing came after a few moments, you were able to relax.
You laughed a little, thinking about the whole madness that had just transpired.
You laughed even more when it finally hit you that you had just survived and fought to the death against that monster.
You were practically laughing like a madman once the world went back to normal, leaving you and your possessions as the only proof that what had just transpired wasn't only a mad hallucination on your part.
Tears were flowing through you face: Tears of relief, of confusion, of pain, of happiness, tears without even a reason to be were flowing from your eyes, and you could do nothing to stop it.
Finally, you felt your new clothes and weapons disappearing, leaving your blood-soaked clothes and the injuries on your body as the only proof of what had transpired here.
And finally, that sense of power and calm that you felt through the whole time you were using those clothes also left with them, leaving you tired, scared, and confused of what had just happened.
Luckily, you didn't had to deal with that for much time, as you felt your body crumbling under the exhaustion, with it falling to the floor without any energies to keep itself standing.
You were tired.
Too tired.
You felt your eyelids growing heavier by the second.
"-ey! it's her-"
You could hear voices fading on the distance...
"-mi! get me som-"
You couldn't do anything as you felt your body and mind succumb to fatigue...
"-ill be okay, can you hear m-!?"
-And you knew nothing but darkness once more...
[END OF PROLOGUE]
[CHOOSE AN INTERLUDE]
[] Family Issues: "...Do you think that he'll be fine at... that place?" "...I wish I'd knew..." [] Report UR93-AA77: Due to Orders from [REDACTED], the following document is under heavy censorship measures. [] Rescue Duo: "So, he is..." "The one personally invited by the Director? Yes, he is."
Well... That was something.
And with this, we end the Prologue! Hopefully you had found it to be decent.
So... What are your thoughts on this so far? I would really enjoy to know how well I am doing with this quest; it can be anything, what you think of my writing, about the plot-hooks I left on the way, about how I'm writing Asuka... Y'know, all that stuff.
I have to say, I didn't expected this to go like this, I wanted this to go more in line with a Persona 3-like prologue; reaching the dorm, meeting people, not entering in combat for one or two day to get used to the setting... but the RNGods decided to have a fight as soon as possible, and sunk all of that into the ground.
I'll be honest, I was actually worried about what I should do when I saw that Drone (Minor) kicking your ass, with all of my background rolls for intervention being too low, and with it having a very real chance of killing you; but the RNGods decided that your suffering had gone for long enough and decided to favor you a little.
Anyways... The next update should come in a few hours, if not tomorrow, so, to give you a bone, I'll let you choose about some very nice Interludes between this and Chapter 1!
Approval vote, most voted will win, and all that stuff.
You know the rest; feedback if possible, typos too...
Description: Used almost entirely for survey of anything important within the immediate area, they lack any sort of intelligence, and serve as the eyes and ears of whoever controls them; it exists for them a chance to develop a will of their own, though, giving them the power to evolve.
HP: 6 (Fragile, but their role isn't to be fighters...) PWR: 9 (...That said, they are dangerous if fought in hordes) DEX: 6 - 8 (Quick enough to run if needed; Capable of hiding if needed) KNW: 2 - 4 (They do not need to think much to accomplish their objectives) ARC: 0 (They lack any sort of capability for Magic) CHA: 0 (Their role isn't to do the talking) WIL: 0/10 (Miserable, with little hope of survival)
Souji Yonaka was no stranger to death, he was actually pretty experienced with the subject; from killing things, to seeing people die, to losing close ones' himself, he could say that he knew death better than most.
That didn't meant that he liked it, far from it, he always gave his best in order to avoid any unnecessary death; he believed that all life was important in some way, ways than he probably would never truly understand, but that existed, nonetheless.
Thus, when he saw a freshly Awakened kid falling into the ground just after he had managed to kill one minor drone, he feared the worst.
Thankfully, he had brought the school nurse, Naomi Tsunagi, with him on his regular patrol schedule, and she was able to heal the remaining injuries in the child's body with ease.
He looked at the child once more, unconscious and in bed, and he felt a pang of sadness.
'There it goes another normal life...'
He knew about the risks for the Sleepers, but so far, he had counted that the Shadows were at least thirty times more likely to detect and attack an Awoken than a Sleeper.
And that is without counting the risks to their families and everyone around them...
He got up, choosing to walk out of the room, having seen more than enough; the kid would live, and wake up in the next day, and that was good enough for him.
He sighed, the Shadow attacks had been increasing in number since quite a few years ago, while at the same time, more kids were Awakening, as if in response to that.
'Probably connected...' He had deduced quite a long time ago.
This kid was so far just one more victim in this whole mess.
As he walked out of the infirmary...
"Sorry-!"
"Ugh-!"
He crashed in to already mentioned nurse.
"Ugh... Good to see you, Naomi." He greeted, this was far from the first time something like this had happened to him, and so he was far more interested in hat could have made her run like this.
"I'm sorry, Souji! But I need your help, it's about Usagi, Yukiko and Tatsumi again..." She whispered that last part.
He groaned. Those three would be the death of him.
"I swear to any God listening, if I have to deal with another romantic triangle again in my lifetime, I will find a way to convince Ooshiki to ban relationships between students..." He knew that he was probably being unfair, but really, bringing personal problems to their workplace, in a work that they chosen to do? that was really annoying.
Ignoring his complaints, she could only sigh, "I swear, I just don't know how to deal with these three..."
"You and me..." The stood in comfortable silence for a few moments, before moving towards the problematic group together.
Within moments, they were on their way to the students' position, until Souji noticed someone standing on the hallway.
The man stood still in the middle of the hallway, looking uninterested at the ceiling, or something, Souji could only guess.
After a few moments, the man looked in their direction, and noticed both of them.
"Lady. Gentleman." He gave them a sharp nod, and proceeded to make his way towards the Directors' office.
Souji had heard of that man, even if he hadn't saw him in person so far.
"Is he...?" He started.
"The one personally invited by the Director? Yes, he is." And with that, she proceeded to continue her way towards the problematic students, "Don't get left behind!".
Souji sighed, he was better off not dealing with that stuff.
Students were easier to deal with.
Somewhat short, but I think I left enough stuff to make it decent.
Among the loneliness and cold that you felt from your surroundings.
Among the nothingness and the everything.
Among the aeons and the instants.
And so, eventually, the darkness thinned.
You were able to see the walls around you, glowing with a faint green light coming for indescriptables runes carved on them.
You were able to see the ruins, the fallen buildings and the endless destruction around you, the pain and sorrow that came from the surroundings.
You were able to see war-machines that you couldn't recognize, and the broken bodies that laid around them.
You were confused.
What had happened here...?
You walked among the rubble and ash.
Black smoke started to cloud your vision.
And so, you walked.
Feeling once more perfectly calm about this situation.
You eventually reached something.
A Rift.
You felt... strange, as if being called...
And so,
You walked into The Rift. You woke up with a jolt.
Your whole body felt exhausted, and your head felt as if you hadn't slept at all, to make things better, you could feel a great pain coming from both of them.
You found yourself in a bed, inside a white room with other beds (with all of them with green sheets on them, you noticed), and a white light coming from one the ceiling.
You laid in your bed, attempting to sort the mess your thoughts and memories had become.
You started recounting the steps you took that had led you here: Your journey to Shirubātaun and Soyokaze Academy, your desire to go out to the outskirts to take a stroll and relax before going into the dorms, and...
That when the rest hit you: Your almost death at the hands of the dark creature, that 'transformation' you had when you refused to die, your battle (sort of) with the monster, you killing it and then falling into the ground, lacking any sort of energy to keep yourself standing, and finally losing your consciousness as you heard voices...
When you remembered, you started looking left and right around you, attempting to see if there was someone around you.
You noticed that, this place was completely desert save from you.
You took a moment to inhale and exhale in an attempt to calm your nerves.
'Alright...' you thought to yourself, 'What happened?'
What happened before was something so incredible, that you doubted that you could ever tell anyone about it without ending with you being sent to a asylum or worse, and to be honest, you weren't even sure if what happened was even real or just an hallucination that you had for some reason.
Regardless, it seemed that you going into the outskirts did happened, and getting hurt enough to drop unconscious was something that seemingly also happened, as you could tell by the pain in your body.
Still, there was a problem; under the assumption that some parts of your memories were real and not a crazy dream or hallucination, you were in a though spot, due to your (probably) blood-soaked clothes.
That was going to be hard to explain when you lacked any sort of injuries to claim as your own, thus leaving that the blood was from someone other than you as the only logical option.
Which... wasn't a good thing for you, frankly.
You were brought out of your thoughts by the sound of a door opening.
The person who came into the room was a woman, she had with light brown hair and hazel eyes, she was wearing a dark blue dress who was covered by a labcoat.
From here, you could also notice that she was wearing a pantyhouse, and that the sides of her hair looked an awful lot like animal-ish ears.
'Do they move when she's excited...?' It was a really stupid question, really, you can say so yourself, but still, it was a nice distraction from your other thoughts.
Once the woman noticed that you were awake, she threw her ands over her head, exclaiming "Oh thank, God you're awake!" as she ran to your bed side.
'...They do move!' You were actually impressed by that.
You were preparing an excuse about what happened, it would be difficult to believe, but-
"Oh thank you for being alive, you wouldn't believe how bad you were when you came here, I mean, like, really, completely depleted of your magical energy, with your magical body having to patch you together while you fought that Shadow, you wouldn't believe how lucky you are to still be alive! Oh dear I almost thought that you would be crippled for life if I didn't do my work properly...!" She started talking at speeds that you couldn't keep up with, interchanging between lecturing you, to attempting to comfort you, to being scared of how bad you would have been if she had failed at her job... It was completely impossible for you to follow her in this conversation.
'Magical Energy? Spiritual Body? Shadow? What the hell...?' You were taken back by her personality so far.
She promptly realized that she had lost you, and then panicked for a second before apologizing.
"I'm sorry, I know that you don't understand a word of what I'm saying!" She than proceeded to straighten herself, and to clear he throat, before starting to talk in a serious tone, "Let's start again, shall we? I'm Naomi Tsunagi, nurse of Soyokaze Academy, and I was one of the two people that found you in the outskirts of the town after your Awakening.
I know that you must have many questions, but please, allow me to explain you the basics of this whole thing before we start with the important stuff." She looked pretty serious, a far cry from her a few seconds ago.
You thought for a few seconds, before deciding with one question before anything: "What the hell is an awakened?"
...That might have come far more rude that you intended, but still, you wanted answers.
To Tsunagi's credit, she didn't seemed surprised by your rudeness, if anything, she seemed to be expecting something along those lines.
"All right, let's cut straight into this; you know about Magical Girls and Henshin Heroes, right?" You nodded, "Alright, that save us time, the gist of this all is that an Awakened is basically someone who unlocked their potential to use magic, like a Magical Girl, usually due to a catalyst, like the pocket watch that you have on the pocket inside your clothes - and yes, I did searched through them, I'm a nurse, it's part of my job, don't feel ashamed - and now they can perform incredible deeds with the power of magic, obtaining a new body, your Spiritual Body, and becoming stronger and faster than any human," She quickly sent me a look that was basically 'are you following me?' to which I nodded.
She was telling me that you that you were a mage of sorts? That... Was insane.
But still, somehow, it seemed to fit right along the series of events that had happened since you reached here.
"Alright, you are, in basic terms, a Magical Boy with incredible power, but you are also now hunted-" "I'm what now!?" "-By the Shadows; beings that seem to be attracted to Magically Capable humans, whom we call Sleepers, they also hunt normal humans if they have the ties to the Awoken."
"What the hell!?" You shouted. They were telling you that now you had a bunch of monsters like the one from before attempting to kill you by the sheer fact of existing? What kind of bullshit was that!?
"Look, I know how that sounds, but please, just let me finish before you say anything, please!" She was practically begging you right now.
...You sighed, it's not like you had any other choice.
Sensing your, albeit begrudging, agreement, she continued, "This Academy is founded to both give educations to children and young adults and to find, train, and protect Awoken from the Shadows; we even have a special group trained to fight Shadows."
She looked worried, looking at your clearly unsatisfied face, "Look, I know what you're thinking, but we aren't attempting to lock you here, you are free to go, call your family, all that stuff, it's just..." She struggled to find her words, "That we want you and others to be safe from the Shadows, and so far, this is the less risky way of doing so." She then proceeded to drag a box from below your bed.
"These are your belongings, we did our best to take care of them, your dorm has already made space for you; Di-principal Ooshiki wishes to see you inside his office; first go throught the corridor and go for the elevator, push the button to reach the 3rd floor, and then go first door to the left." She seemed unsure of what to do next, "...And, if you feel the need to, I'm usually in this place most of the week until evening, so if you need to talk to someone..." She trailed off, her voice becoming a whisper shortly after that.
With seemingly nothing left for her to say, she walked out of the room, but not before leaving a few final words, "Today is April 2nd, so you should be fine to go to classes tommorrow, please attempt to be punctual."
You were stunned for a few seconds, before sighing and starting to unpack your things.
"What the hell is this place...?" You asked yourself, with silence being your only answer. Following Tsunagi's instructions, you finally reached the principals' office.
You knocked on the door a few times, waiting for some answer, before receiving a "You can enter" as your answer.
The place was pretty dignified; a red carpet on the floor, an oak wood desks' and chair, bookshelves on the sides, and the principal himself behind said desk, sitting on a luxurious chair.
His red eyes were piercing you, analising you, you could feel it.
He wore a black and white suit, pretty elegant, you weren't going to lie, and his lower face was covered in an admittedly pretty great beard.
You could see from here that he was a tall man, probably a head and a half above you.
But most of all, you could see his muscles stretching the suit, all of them probably beyond what you could gather in years, if not decades; a proof of dedication to his work out routine, if nothing else.
"Good evening, Mr. Iwamoto, my name is Kageru Ooshiki, and I am the principal of this Academy you attempted to enter before yesterday's attack." His voice was gruff; but there was something else in his tone that you just couldn't put your finger on...
"I will take that Ms. Tsunagi has already given you the short version of what you're dealing with right now, am I right?" His voice was even, you had the feeling that this was his 'friendly' voice.
You nodded at his question.
"Alright," He took a pause to breath, an then looked straight into your eyes, "I wish to ask you something, Mr. Iwamoto; do you believe in Fate?"
"...What?"
"It's a weird question, I know, but please, just answer to this old sack of bones, please?"
...You were going to pass the chance to tell him that he probably had more muscle in his body than many people in their primes.
Still, about his question...
[] ...I believe: You always liked to believe that things happened for a reason, that some people were bound to meet an love or hate, there was something romantic in that idea. [] ...I don't believe: You always disliked thinking that your path was already chosen for you, that anything you did was already foreseen, you have always believed in being able to choose your own fate. [] ...I don't know: So far, you have no idea if Fate is real or not, it might be, and you are running on it, it might be not, and all your choices are just as random as anything else in this world, but you always liked to go with an open mind about the possibilities.
The principal held his gaze for a moment, before finally nodding with a simple "I see".
He straightened his chair and stance, "Now, Mr. Iwamoto, I'll be frank with you, I would have wished for your Awakening to have happened later, once you were adapted to your life inside the Academy, and for your first encounter with the Shadows to have been much less risky, but alas, that didn't happened."
"I'm sure that you have half a mind telling you to get out of here, and to be honest, I would respect you if you did, but you must know that once Awoken, the Shadows will come after you with much more frequence than as a simple Sleeper, and, forgive for saying this, but you aren't even remotely trained in combat to hold your own against anything but the weaker Shadows." You felt angry at that; you shouldn't need to know how to fight in the first place!
"So, I'll make this offer to you: Stay in the Academy for a month, make bonds with people, train your skills, understand what you are facing, and after the month is over, you will come here and give me your answer about staying or not, are we fine with that?"
You weren't sure about what to think about this, you couldn't get a read out of the director, and this whole thing was still completely insane, but so far you've had little choice, and you weren't sure if he was going to act violently if you refused, so...
"...Yes, it does sounds fine."
You could see a smile appearing on his lips.
"All right then," he said, opening the door to outside his office, "I hope that you find your stay here a decent experience."
Once you exited his office, you let out a long held breath.
"...Why?" You have 4 AP to use.
Vote by plan, minus the choice above.
[] Go to the dorms: Sleeping in an actual bed sounds like a good idea, maybe even finding out about you co-habitants would help soothe your nerves.
[] Go explore the town: After the last time, it couldn't be worse, right...? -[] Go to the Commercial Area: Buying some stuff is always a good way to take your mind off things. -[] Go on to explore the Outskirts: That memory... maybe, there's something over there... -[] Go explore the Park: You just need to think in peace for a moment. -[] Go explore the Residential Area: You used to live here, maybe a stroll around this place would help you think things through. -[] Wander Around: You just need to take a moment to think after... all of this. (Random result, 1D100)
[] Wander around the school: A nice place to study, shame about the monsters... -[] Visit the infirmary: Ms. Tsunagi told you that if you needed to talk to someone, then you should come to her office; you really need to talk to someone right now. -[] Visit your classroom: You have been assigned into the 2-C classroom, there's many students there... -[] Visit the library: You are confused, and you need answers. This place might have some of those. -[] Go to the courtyard: A nice place to eat lunch, or something... -[] Go to the Roof: A place to think about stuff without having to worry about seeing others, or something like that...
[] Train your Stats: You hated the thought, but Mr. Ooshiki was right; if these 'Shadows' were to attempting to kill you, then you would need to get stronger. -[] Practice with your dagger: You know nothing about how to fight with a knife. Maybe you should learn. (DC 5/15) -[] Practice with your pistol: You've never held a gun in your entire life, nor you wished to do so. Time to correct one of those. (DC 5/15) -[] Train your PWR: You needed to become stronger...(D20, 00/50) -[] Train your DEX: You need to become quicker... (D20, 00/80) -[] Study and increase your KNW: Despite all the madness, this was, still, a school. Tests included. (D20, 00/40) -[] Practice your smile and your CHA: You aren't great when it comes to sweet talking people. Maybe you try and change that. (D20, 00/40) -[] Search about Magic and ARC: Magic... Is real. You need to know more about it. (D20, 00/10)
[] Call your Parents: ...How do you do this? How do you talk to them about this without sounding insane...?
Well, here it is, the first post after the Prologue!
It was kinda difficult to write, not going to lie, but still, it was fun.
Anyways, the first choice above is going to be Really Important in the future, so choose carefully!

Alright, Thoughtful Approach wins! An open mind is always filled with possibilities...Though, are you unsure about Fate? Don't worry, that can be fixed.
You take a deep breath as you stand before the gates of your dorm.
The 4 stories tall building made you uncomfortable at the sight, not for anything wrong with the building in particular, but more because... Well, because you will be staying here for an entire month with strangers that probably know more about how does this whole system the principal has works, and that you are still evaded by that man's motives.
'Still,' you think 'It's not like I actually have a choice...' Technically, you did have a choice, it's just that the alternative to this might be endangering your family, friends and others once you reach home, and that's discounting the issue if the principal is actually as 'generous' as he portraits himself as.
Even more, after a while of meditation and regaining your composure, you decided to interact with your co-habitants, not being sure if ignoring them during your whole stay would be a particularly good idea.
Sure, you might be able to avoid them for an actually pretty long time, considering that you are extremely good at the art of disappearing in the background, but you doubt that it would be the wisest course of action with the possibility of both being attacked by Shadows, and your lack of actual knowledge of how both your abilities and this whole place work.
With this in mind, you take a last breath...
'Inhale, exhale...'
-And open the doors to the dorms.
The place is... pretty much what you expected from a student dorm; there's a somewhat big, square table with a few chairs around it on the background, a couch with that is looking toward a TV, with another smaller table separating both, a few meters away from the entrance, a set of stairways that go up to the rooms of the inhabitants and another that goes down to the basement (hopefully it isn't one with a 'dark secret' kind of deal, but at that point you might just be acting paranoid), and, right at the side of the entrance, there's a receptionist desk with a male student as his occupant.
The student, you noticed, has a dark blue hair and eyes, and a drowsy expression on his face. He was wearing a lavender sweater with long sleeves on top of a white shirt with a collarbone.
He hasn't noticed you yet, clearly too focused on actually not falling asleep to do that.
There is only other person in the lobby aside from you and the boy; A girl with black hair and twin tails that is reading a book on the table in the background.
[] Try to talk to the boy: He looks pretty tired, but he appears determined to not fall asleep... He could need a little hand on that prospect, if you are honest. [] Try to talk to the girl: You... aren't sure about either of them, so you will go for the one that doesn't look like it's about to fall asleep at the slightest push.
The night was pretty quiet, it seemed that the other students living in the dorms either had came back way too late, or were already asleep, so there wasn't much activity on that front.
Still, it is a new day, and with a new day, came things like going to class.
It is comforting that your normal life wasn't over just yet, just... changed. In a big way.
As you walk through the corridors and the hallways in direction to your classroom, you are able to look at the rest of the students living their lives just as usual.
'Do they know...?' That is your biggest question right now, if you are being honest; how much people here know about the Awakened? How many of the people here are actually Awakened? Most? Only a few? How could it be a secret if they were only a few?
You honestly don't have an idea, and thinking so hard without reaching an answer is giving you a headache.
Focusing on anything else, you take a look at your uniform: a white shirt, a necktie, a vest, and pants are the uniform for the male students; a serafuku is the one for the female ones.
The dress code of Soyokze is kinda lax; as long as you are using the baseline uniform, you can pretty much adorn it as much as you like, as long as it doesn't break any norms of conduct or decency.
Looking down at your own style, you are... pretty much a baseline student, yet again; you have a feeling that you aren't going to stand out from the nameless, faceless masses this year either.
'Well, that's fine,' You tell to yourself 'I'm not a social person anyway...' You definitely aren't sulking.
Not even a little.
Anyone who says otherwise is a liar.
...Still, you finally reach your classroom, the 2-C class, to be more specific.
And it seems that there's someone waiting on the doorway to the inside.
"Ah, so you're here early." The man has grey hair and eyes, is wearing a simple black dress shirt with a red necktie on it "I'm Souji Yonaka, your teacher for this year and all that stuff." The man's voice is somewhat gruff, but he sounds relaxed.
"Also," the man, Mr. Yonaka, continues in a whisper "Know that not many people here know about Awoken and Shadows and all that stuff, be careful."
You are somewhat surprised by this, after all, if the Shadows go for anyone that has ties to an Awoken, and they do it regularly, how do they keep the secret? Still, attempting to not show any of that in your face, you simply nod and go along with him inside the classroom.
You are asked to introduce yourself, and you take note of some notable students outside the ones you've seen in the dorm while you are at it: A male student with red hair and a happy grin on his face, a female with blond hair and a rather uninterested look in her face, another male student with green hair and a relaxed aura coming from him, and finally a female student with gray hair and what could only be described as a permanent Poker Face.
...After your introduction, things proceed as normal up until lunch.
You sigh as you exit the classroom.
You have yet to eat your lunch, but eating it inside, with so many people around you, talking among each other about this and that... It just kinda made you uncomfortable.
And a little bit self-conscious, if you are being honest.
Still, you have always liked eating in the outside, it kinda helped you when you needed to think about things.
Needless to say, there's quite a few things you need to process right now.
You could go to the courtyard, but the sound of others talking and making friends among each other would make your pseudo-meditation quite harder... And also making you even more self-conscious.
So, what is the other place to eat on the outside but with fewer people to distract you? The roof, of course!
With that in mind, you've made your way to the rooftop on with your lunch, and open the door that leads outside.
You realize quickly, though, that you aren't the only one here.
The other person up here is...
[] ...The student with red hair: As it seems, you weren't the only one who thought of eating here, but at least he doesn't seem bothered by this, judging by his friendly wave at you. [] ...The student with blonde hair: She is, apparently, pretty focused on her notebook, writing down furiously on it. She doesn't seems to have realized your presence. [] ...The student with green hair: He appeared to be relaxing up here before you came, but he doesn't appear annoyed by your presence, he is actually offering you to sit beside him. [] ...The student with gray hair: Well, this is awkward. She is over there, frozen by your arrival, and at her side is a cat eating her food.
Well, it is a social update, it seems.
I wasn't able to make the training parts into this; I wasn't able to put them in organically with the rest.
They will be on the next one, don't worry about it!
Also, this are the uniforms, in case my capabilities to write descriptions about clothes were lacking (which they probably were, if I'm being honest), this is also the appearances of the two students in the dorms.

[X] Try to talk to the girl: You... aren't sure about either of them, so you will go for the one that doesn't look like it's about to fall asleep at the slightest push.
[X] ...The student with green hair: He appeared to be relaxing up here before you came, but he doesn't appear annoyed by your presence, he is actually offering you to sit beside him.
[X] Try to talk to the boy: He looks pretty tired, but he appears determined to not fall asleep... He could need a little hand on that prospect, if you are honest.
After a moment of deliberation, you decide to not bother the male student, he seem to be really tired, and he will probably fall asleep on his own in a few moments, so you decide to focus on the female student.
You manage to sneak up past that male student (rather easily, though to be fair, he is mostly asleep at this point), and start walking towards the table in the background.
As you grow closer, you are able to notice more details about the girl; her hair and eyes are almost the same tone as the male student (maybe related?), she seems to be humming a melody as she reads, and the book she is reading is... Wait, no, that's a manga.
You cough as you reach the table in order to gain her attention, which makes her perk up at your presence.
She gives you a curious look, "Yes...? Can I help you?"
"Um... I am the new transfer student, I was supposed to get here yesterday, but..." But you were almost killed by a monster and you became some sort of mage.
She nods at that, "Ah, so you are the new guy who is going to live here? Alright," She gets up from her seat, putting the manga she had been reading until now down, "I am Miyu Shiirane, it is a pleasure to meet you."
You introduce as well, "Asuka Iwamoto, likewise."
She looks at you, still curious, "So," She begins looking around, "Have you seen...?" Her gaze falls on the male student on the reception, "Ah, right, makes sense." she goes to the male student, and she, to your surprise, manages to lift him up from behind the desk and to carry him on her back.
"Wow..."
"According to the orders of Ms. Asami, he should have been the first guy to receive you on this place, but since that is out of the way," She points at him, "This is Tatsumi, my brother, and if he were awake, he would probably say that is nice to meet you, or something like that."
You see the guy still sleeping soundly, despite being carried like luggage by his sister, and you can't help but nod dumbly at such a bizarre spectacle.
Miyu notices your reaction "Hey, you fine there? This isn't that weird, you are an Awakened, right...?"
"Just for the last," You think for a moment, "24 hours, or something, and during most of those hours I was unconscious."
"Ah, I see," She nods in understanding at your situation, "Well, if you need a guide or something, you can always call to me, you hear?" Miyu offers with a smile.
She then starts moving towards the stairways, "I need to put this guy on his bed, but you need to tell me sometime how did you Awakened!" As she says this, she starts going up through up.
"Oh, one more thing!" She calls to you, "Everyone who lives here is an Awakened, so don't worry about that!" And with that, she's gone.
"...Well," You start going up to your new bedroom. "At least she's nice."
You stare at the girl with gray hair.
She stares back at you.
You keep staring, with your hand still on the pommel of thee door.
She keeps staring, her hand still feeding the black cat at her side.
Neither of you move for what it seems to be an eternity.
Then the cat, who appears to have gotten bored of this situation, gets in between each other's eye contact with a loud hiss.
"MEW!" That is enough to break the standstill eye-to-eye combat you both were in, which apparently makes the cat happy.
The Beast retreats to her... Owner's(?) lap, and starts eating the food she brought.
With your eye combat finished, you are now capable of talk and thought once more, and she is, In Theory, capable of at least one of those two things.
Thus, you decide to be the first in initiate the social advances, and start a conversation.
"Um... Hi?" That sounded better in your head.
The girl looks at you, "Hi." her voice is as plain as it could be.
You decide to take a seat on some place on the rest of the roof, and continue to eat.
The minutes pass without any of you talking to each other, and it's honestly making the atmosphere rather awkward, for you at least.
"So, my name is-" You attempt to introduce yourself before being interrupted.
"Aoi." She says, and after noticing that you have no idea what she's talking about, she points at herself and adds for context "Aoi Aizawa, that's me."
"Ah, Asuka Iwamoto, it's a pleasure." Well, at least that's something.
The lunch goes on, this time less awkward on your part, thankfully.
At the same time, you can't help but notice the cat resting on her lap, much less so as she keeps petting and feeding it.
"So, how did you managed to get your cat here? Isn't it against the rules?" You are actually curious, is that cat even allowed here?
Aoi looks at the cat on her lap.
She then looks at you.
Then at the cat.
Rinse and repeat a few times.
"...Shiro isn't a cat," She then lifts the cat on her arms, cuddling it like a baby, "He's a White Tiger!" And with that bold statement, you can feel a massive amount of smugness coming from her.
'No, wait...' You narrow your eyes, desperately searching the source of the sudden smugness, until you finally realize it's origin.
'Does that cat..?' Against logic (But what use has logic had since you arrived, in all honesty?), you can actually see a massivelysmuggrin on the face of the cat, Shiro, despite the obvious logical and biological problems with that.
Disturbed, you stop talking to both of them until the end of the lunch.
Finally, the day's over.
You can hear Mr. Yonaka's voice as he tells thee student's to return safely to their homees, and to not wander around.
You are busy packing up your things to care much about that, wanting nothing more than to rest in your bed 'till the next day.
Of course, that isn't what happens.
Instead, you found yourself following Mr. Yonaka through the school, as he asked of you.
'It's something important' were his words.
And so, you found yourself inside of the library, with no idea as to why.
"Asuka, come heree for a second," Mr. Yonaka's voice calls you from the other side of the library, "You will need to see this."
As you reach from where his voice is coming, you suddenly feel as iif you had just crossed a barrier, an umbral onto somewhere else.
"Yeah, that should be enough." You hear Yonaka's voice coming from rightbside you, which admittedly makes you jump out of surprise.
"What? I'm not that scary, am I?" As you expected, he is, indeed, right besides you.
You glare at his figure, you have a feeling that he does enjoy doing this, and being scary.
"Alright, Asuka, look closely at this..." You begrudgingly do so, and witness how he puts one of his hands on the bookshelve, revealing a series of lines that divide it from thee rst of the library.
"Is that..?" You are starting to get an idea of what's happening.
"Runes? Yes, they are." And with that, Mr. Yonaka retracts his hand from th bookshelve, letting the runes dissapear... No, rather, he allows them to hide once more, "This place is detached from the rest of the library, here are all the magic tomes and a gate to the training grounds, all what you need to become capable of fighting." As he says that, he throws one of the tomes at you.
You manage to caught the tome before it hits the ground and start reading th title 'Basic of Magic...? Well, at least they call it that.'
"This one is good for you as a beginner, it explains things in a simple way," He keeps walking down the corridor of the... Technically still the library.
He stops in front of a... Crest, of sorts, carved on the wall.
"Alright, now touch this thing." He points to the crest.
Reluctanly, you do so.
And in less than a second, you feel your entire body disintegrating, being reformed, and appearing in other place; all in less than what it takes for you to blink.
"#˜$%3(), !@'4% ¬ere..." You can hear Mr. Yonaka saying something, but you feel way too... everything to understand exactly what.
You can feel someone holding you before you fall to the ground,"Hey, don't worry, it happens to all of us in their first time using that."
You stay a few minutes like that, attempting to decide on one emotion or feeling after going through... that.
After a few minutes, you finally have an idea of what to say.
"I'm never doing that again."
The smile on Mr. Yonaka's face doesn't give you any sort of comfort, "You will have to, sorry."
You let him know of your opinion with a groan. ARC Training: 11!
You are have a rather decent time understanding what it says on the tome.
First, Magic comes from the human, but it is needed a way to be able to give it a form and be able to use it.
That's where Catalysts come in hand.
These objects must have a deep emotional connection with the user in order to obtain a bond with a Concept of Existence and become Catalysts for their use.
Each Catalyst gives an special type of magic to the user, but due to the fact that Magic depends on both the concept it is related, and the user's own imagination, it is rather normal to see Magic that is very similar to each other, if not outright the same.
There are enough of those that Magic has been categorized in many forms, or rather 'Disciplines'.
As the week goes on, you manage to get a grasp of how magic works, and the basic idea of it.
"Ugh!" You let out a scream as you felt you weapon slipping out of your hand.
"Asuka! Are you fine, kid!?" Mr. Yonaka, who decided that you would need a teacher to make sure you wouldn't blow your hand or head off and decided to appoint himself to the task, worried the moment he saw you fail at hitting many of the targets, and worried even more now that you managed to lose your gun in such a way.
"Um... Yeah, it's just a bruise." In all honestly, you felt your ego being the one truly injured after this.
"Alright, if you say so..." Mr. Yonaka sighed, you weren't having a good time during the practice.
"I suppose I do better when my opponent is just extremely close, huh..." You were actually sulking this time, to be honest.
"You'll get the hang of this soon, believe me, I have seen worse." You kinda doubt that.
Reward: Your Gunslinger Skill has become (Incompetent).
So... That was it.
Hopefully, I was ablee to make all the characters here feel interesting.
And yep, your rolls with the Pistol kinda sucked, but at least your ARC roll was good!
Also, after a while of deliberation, I decided to take advantage of the fact that we havn't enterd any combat or obtained any skill up until now to change a little of the Skill stuff, to make sure it's a little more clear (and somewhat balanced).
Anyways, the next update should come in a day or two, typos and feedback are appreciated as always!
As it happens, your first week in Soyokaze came and went away faster than you thought it would, considering.... everything that happened before you even reached the gates of this place.
The fact that you discovered that you are a wizard of sorts, that your first contact with supernatural creatures ended with you almost dying, that you were informed that you would be hunted for the rest of your life by a bunch of monsters, and that if you didn't learned how to fight your family and others who were involved with you would be also targeted by those same monsters.
All in all, you expected the first week to go at a slug's pace for you... and, to be honest, it kinda did.
Now, some parts of it were actually pretty helpful in making you at ease with your new situation, some of those made you meet new people!
...But, if you are being honest, you spend most of the week feeling just as nervous and on the edge as you were when you first came inside these walls.
Still, you really weren't in a good position to complain; so far, you were having a decent time adapting to your situation, while you haven't actually interacted with the rest of your co-habitants on the dorms outside of Miyu and Aoi, you have noticed that they were the same people that you had taken notice before.
It was a nice coincidence, you think.
Regardless, there weren't any particular events during this week... outside of the ones that had already happened, of course.
And so, your first week at Soyokaze came to an end... BANG!
You watch in annoyance as your shot misses it's target... again.
'Goddamnit...' You sigh as you return your pistol to it's holster.
You are right now inside the training grounds, as one might expect, facing towards a shooting range, watching as you manage to miss most of your targets, and feeling extremely annoyed by this whole situation.
At first, it wasn't something you cared about, you just thought that it would get better in a few days, but soon, it became an issue of pride, seeing as the week went on and you kept missing.
It is becoming a true issue, if you would say so yourself, considering how even when you do hit, it's by gracing the target.
You aren't amused by this.
Not at all.
'Inhale... Exhale...' You breathe, attempting to ignore your frustration with this whole issue.
You think that it is helping, but you're not really sure...
"Still having issues?" You let out a yelp at being brought out of your thoughts by the voice who, apparently, materialized out of thin air behind you.
You turn around to see Mr. Yonaka chuckling at your reaction.
You think that he is taking way too much joy from that.
"So," He starts, taking a look at your... work with your gun, more specifically, at the wall filled with bullet holes behind you, "That bad?"
You sigh, "Yes, and it's... Frustrating" You take a last look at the shooting range, "...and annoying. Very annoying." You conclude.
You feel him putting a hand on your shoulder, "Can see..." You turn to look at him, his gaze still lingering on your work, "Still, I recommend you to take a break," He lets go of you, "You will only keep missing if you go on like this; frustrated and without a rest."
You can see his logic, "But I don't have time," you rebuke, "I only have... Three? Four weeks before I go back home?" You aren't sure if you will, but it does sound like a better idea than staying here. Maybe. Probably.
Mr. Yonaka, for his part, only offers a noncommittal 'Hmm' as an answer, "Anyways, we should be going back to the school." And with that, he turns his back on you, and goes straight to the entrance.
You grimace at the thought of using that... Gate, as you hear it is called, again, "Whoever made that thing," You remember how it feels to go through that experience, "Was a sadist." You still feel sick every time you go through that.
"You get used to it," Amazing, even when you can't see his face, you can still picture him with a grin, "Believe me, we all had to..." You can hear a hint of empathy on his voice.
You think that this is some kind of initiation ritual for him.
As both of you walk towards the entrance, you can't help but notice you two are the only one's here, apparently, due to the fact that you are forbidden to enter during the hours than the rest of students who apparently volunteered as hunters for the Shadows.
You will admit that it is annoying, but you can somewhat understand the motivations behind it.
"Alright," Mr. Yonaka calls to you, snapping you out of your thoughts, "Here it is, do you want to go first or last?" At the very least he wasn't smiling at you right now.
You glare at the crest engraved into the wall, as if attempting to burn it with you gaze.
Which, admittedly, would have been great.
You touch the thing once more, and, as always, you go through the experience of feeling your body ceasing to exist for a second and being reconstructed, and as always, once you reach the other side, struggle to keep your body on it's feet after you feel the wave of sensations coming back to you.
'At least' You think, 'I'm not puking this time', you think as you hold onto the bookshelves for support to your body.
"Well," You can hear Mr. Yonaka's voice appearing behind you "It seems you are adapting".
You shot him a look, "This is adapting?" You say, as you still struggle to walk.
"Yep."
"Isn't another way to move around than with this?"
"If there was one, do you think that I would be using this?"
"...Good point."
You take a few minutes to fully regain control of your senses before both of you get out of the library.
The sun has already set, which means that the school is totally empty of life outside of you two.
There's a rather... odd silence between you and Mr. Yonaka, as you two walk through the corridors.
"So, how are you doing so far? Have you already settled into routine here?" Well, he seems to have realized the silence.
You shrug, "I'm fine." You honestly don't have much to say about this whole place so far; nothing that you hadn't said before, at least.
"I see... And what about your parents? How they reacted when you told them about..." He points at your surroundings, "All of this?"
You grimace at that, "I... haven't called them yet." You honestly were attempting to not think about that for the moment.
"Ah." It his only answer at that.
After that, neither of you say anything until you get outside.
You both say your goodbyes for the night to each other, and you start walking towards your dormitory.
You have to admit, you feel oddly calm like this; walking alone in the night, with only your thoughts and you, feeling the chilly night breeze... It's pretty satisfying.
It is of great help when you need to collect your thoughts, or maybe just unwind yourself from all the things that happen in the day, it helps you to relax.
Alas, you eventually reach your dorms.
You open the door to the inside, and are received to an empty lobby.
'Huh, it must be later than I thought...' Besides, tomorrow is Monday, you suppose.
With that in mind, you walk through the reception and up the stairs to the second floor, and to your own room.
Once inside, you leave your things on a nearby table, take a shower and dive head-first into your bed, tired from today's work.
You can feel your eyelid growing heavier with every second.
In the end, you formulate only one thought before feeling your consciousness leaving your body.
'Tomorrow's a new day...' And then you knew nothing but darkness once more...
You have 4 AP to use.
Vote by plan.

[] Well, you suppose that this was bound to happen sooner or later; a red-headed student has just entered the training grounds while you were here... This is kind of awkward.
[] You found a black cat running around the school grounds, and nobody seems to be paying attention to it... Well, you think you have an idea who this guy is, now if only he could stop hissing at you...
[] It is probably a bad sign when you found a path of death nature around the outskirts, and it probably says something about you when you decide to follow said path...
[] Taking your time to relax around the dorm seemed like a good idea, sadly, you were around when two siblings had a discussion, and you somehow managed to get yourself roped into it...
[] Well, one of your other co-habitants is around the dorms in this precise moment, you might as well and say hello to this girl... Or attempt to, she seem kinda focused on her notebook.
[] As you trained, you decide to talk a little with Mr. Yonaka, considering that you don't really have an idea about him outiside of your classes.
[] Now, the school nurse, Naomi Tsunagi, offered you that her door was open if you needed to talk; might as well take that offer now...

So... This came out way later than I intended.
I had a rather long week, so sorry for not being able to post until now.
