[X] Plan: Keep calm and trust the authorities (but not your aim) -[X]Now, the school nurse, Naomi Tsunagi, offered you that her door was open if you needed to talk; might as well take that offer now... --[X] How and how much should you tell your parents? -[X] Visit the Training Grounds: Well, you have a place to train, and limited time to do so... --[X]Gunslinger: Alright, you have realized that you are terrible with a pistol, but you still have to try and fix it... Besides, it has become an issue of pride to you. -[X] You found a black cat running around the school grounds, and nobody seems to be paying attention to it... Well, you think you have an idea who this guy is, now if only he could stop hissing at you... -[X] Call your Parents (?): Depends on what the nurse tells us.
[X] Plan Social Shadow -[X] You found a black cat running around the school grounds, and nobody seems to be paying attention to it... Well, you think you have an idea who this guy is, now if only he could stop hissing at you...
-[X] Well, one of your other co-habitants is around the dorms in this precise moment, you might as well and say hello to this girl... Or attempt to, she seem kinda focused on her notebook. -[X] Visit the Training Grounds: Well, you have a place to train, and limited time to do so...
--[X] Daggerfall: You know nothing about how to fight with a dagger. Maybe you should learn. (DC 5/15)
-[X] Call your Parents: 'Hey, mom and dad, I accidentally managed to become a mage and now I'm being hunted by monsters, you also might be at risk' Yep, no way this can go wrong ever.
As you stand before the infirmary, the only thing that you can truly say is how much you would like to be in literally any other place.
You suppose that the source of your discomfort has to do less with the place itself and more with the reason to be here in the first place.
You have been to hospitals for medical checks before, and while there is fisical contact, you can't help but feel it rather... Impersonal, professional to say something.
Only your body is being touched, and, while it can be rather uncomfortable, in the end, you never felt as if your privacy had been breached.
Psycology, on the other hand, is basically spilling your innermost thoughts to another person with an unbiased point of view in hopes of getting help.
You can't help but feel... naked, when you think about it.
Even more so, when you think about why you are here.
You haven't told a lie to your parents ever since you were little, but you are quite conscious of what might happen if you do tell them, and you are not looking forward to that conversation.
Thus, the option who had more sense in your eyes was to look for advice with a therapist, because you are sure that this same situation must have happened before, right?
There are muffled sounds coming from inside the room before a voice comes through the door, "Come in!"
With one last breath of hesitation, you open the door of the infirmary.
Ms. Tsunagi is on the left corner of the room, which is decorated with a round table, and three curved couches around it.
Her face is both surprised and happy at the sight of you, "Iwamoto-san? You did came here...?"
You nod, "Em, Ms. Tsunagi, is your offer still...?" You trail off at the end of the sentence.
"Of course!" She not-quite shouts, but her voice definitely goes up a few decibels, "As long as I'm not dealing with another patient, my offer will still stand!" She says this with the utmost confidence.
You smile a little at her words, easing your own anxiety.
It is still present, but you feel more at ease with this... thing.
"Please," She points at the couches "have a seat."
"You know," Ms. Tsunagi says as she prepares her pen and notes, "had you called me beforehand, I could have made some tea for this session," She muses "maybe some snacks as well."
You aren't sure if you would like for this to become routine, "I'll... keep it in mind." There! no compromises were made.
"Great! Great, umm... Just so you know, everything that you say here will stay here, so you can just... Talk, to me about whatever you want, don't push yourself if it makes you uncomfortable... So! Whatever you need, I'll do my best to help you out, alright? Alright!"
You take a moment to collect your thoughts and put them into words.
"It's... about my parents."
You are able to notice that, for an instant, her face turn to a grimace, before returning to her default smile
"Your... parents?"
"I... I have never lied to them, and I know that if I don't call them back, they will and they will ask why did I took so long, and, well, I don't know how to deal with that, so..."
You notice the confused expression on her face
"...You came to me for advice." She finishes your sentence.
"...Yes."
"I... see," She mutter as she nods to herself, "You find it difficult to lie to your parents... If you don't mind, can I ask a little about your family? It would help to have a little context of your... situation."
"Right, so... My family has the habit of... worrying too much about me. And I mean a lot. Like," You scratch the back of your head, thinking on how much you would like to be in literally any other place than here, "Well, for example, they actually made me give them my phone, and they put on an app that lets them know where I am every single moment. And they told me to alway have it at hand, and... they never bothered to tell me about it, I had to discover it by myself, and they are rather... harsh when it comes to my friendships, they practically treat them to what is basically a job interview and..." That Mom cries every single time she discovers you lied about something, making you promises to not do so again...
The times when Dad would basically scream at you to get home quite a few hours before your normal curfew...
The fact that they sometimes don't even bother to hide the fact that they are having their shouting matches even when you are at home...
...Look, you would never deny the fact that they are... difficult... to deal with, but...
(-You can the voice of mom softly mumbling "I'm sorry" again and again from your left shoulder, as tears spill from her face, ruining her make up.
In your right shoulder, dad attempting his best to not cry, not quite succeeding, as he and mom hold you in a thigh embrace, almost as if you were to dissappear should they let you go.
You wish that you never had saw the looks of fear and despair in their faces, and you wish to never do so again-)
...But it has been like that since you can remember clearly, and you have learn to just live with it.
...Because that's family for you, and despite everything, you still love them.
"-moto-san?" The snapping fingers of Tsunagi-san brings you back to reality, where a corcerned expression is written on her face.
You shake your head, focusing back on the situation at hand, "Sorry, I just... I was remembering stuff."
"Stuff?" She raises an eyebrow at your vague wording.
"Private stuff." You say, maybe a little more forceful that you would have liked, as she blinks in surprise at your tone, which makes you realize the tone you used, "...Sorry."
"Oh, don't worry about that," she waves it off like nothing ever happened, "it happens sometimes, I was actually expecting something like that to happen sooner or later, and a few more times in the future, to be honest."
She proceeds to changer her posture, now sitting cross legged, with her pen and notes in hand, before speaking up again, "Anyways, I will be honest, if you would allow me; I have dealt with a few students from the more... mundane, to call it something, side of the world, and in the end, I can only say one sure thing to them: Your parents will either believe that you are making things up, or extremely disturbed by your situation, you know your own family better than me, so I can only guess what their actions to the revelation would be, but regardless," She takes a moment to breath after her lecture.
"In the end," She makes a point to look at you straight in the eyes, "The choice is yours, and only yours, Iwamoto-san."
You blink, breaking visual contact as you lower your head.
That was almost... scripted.
You have a feeling that she has said the exact same thing to many others in the past.
"Anyways," She starts moving up from her sat, "I believe that we have finished everything we had to talk about today, haven't we?" She looks at you for confirmation.
...Honestly, you don't really have anything else you want to talk about right now. "Yes, we have." You say after a moment, moving up from your seat yourself.
She nods at that, "Alright... Oh, one more thing..." You take a moment to look at her, she looks at you in the eyes.
"I have to admit, I was surprised to see you coming here," She grimaces as she speaks, "there's quite a few people out there that apparently prefer to let their problems fester, thinking that they have it under control, or simply ignoring them until they can't do so anymore," She smiles at you once more, "I am quite happy to know that you are reasonable enough about your problems to be willing to talk about them, you are quite a sensible young man, Iwamoto Asuka, and I'm hopeful that you will be willing to let me help you with any problem you my have," She puts a hand on your shoulder, "Know that my door is always open if you need it." And after that is said... (You can feel a faint bond between you and Dr. Tsunagi...)
"Also," She perks up once more, "I have known that short conversations can definitely help with your issue, if you decide to not say anything." (Social Link Rank, 01/10)
And with that, she recollects her possessions, and moves out of the infirmary, with you following shortly out of the room.
'...Huh, I was there for quite a while.' You notice the clock hanging outside the infirmary, showing you that you had been there for at least half an hour.
'...And now, for the hard part...' You think as you look down on your phone, your parent's number on the (admittedly, very short) contact list.
[] ...Be Honest: Well... You suppose that this was going to happen eventually, they are the reason you are actually considering staying here, after all...
[] ...Don't Say Anything: You... have to admit, they will surely react badly at this, if they even believe you, and considering that you now attract monsters by just existing...
...And thus, from the shallow grave, an arm appeared, and using the dirt beneath it as a support, the rest of it's body rose from the soil, with a ominous cry...
"I LiVEeeeeEeEEE!"
...Um, is anybody out there...?
No...?
Alright...
This... thing... was ressurrected thanks to the almigthy combined power of a New Year's resolution about attempting to write more without abandoning it, a burst of inspiration, a desire to write, and the greatness of Persona 3 and our Lord and Savior, Emo Jesus/Door-kun in general.
Anyways...
I have gone back to read what I wrote, and is less terrible than I remembered! Which is surprising, honestly.
I have finally made an outline of the plot of this story, but I have also realized that I might need to change some stuff before going forward, mainly how time works and how SL will happen, and what better time to do so than after ressurrecting this story from the grave!
Also, (and this may or may not be important, depending on the person) I have decided to use a kind-of mix of honorifics and not-honorifics, if you haven't noticed.
...Um...
Happy (Late) New Years! Or something...
Anyways! Feedback is appreciated (And required. Please. I beg of you), and thoughts are always helpful.

Happy (late) New Year and welcome back to the quest!

I'd prefer to avoid disruption of them trying to pull us out. Part of Independence is deciding which of your problems are yours to handle and what burdens you seek to spare others.

Give them an update on how normal stuff is going, but don't tell them about the supernatural stuff. It sounds like they would just freak out and give us even more problems to deal with, and we have other thing requiring our attention right now.

I actually forgot about this quest. Welp, make things harder in the long run for us dealing with our family by not telling them everything. Gives for some drama to grow ever so slightly.
