A Shaper of Ice and Fire (Geneforge/GoT crossover)

i think one of the questions you should ask yourselves is what products do i want to put in the public domain and how could they be used against me. I think the baton should not end up outside our control.

Well, if we're making 10 thorns per batch, then the weapon would cost a total of 100 DVP to produce for 15 points. The equivalent in Healing Pods would cost 90 DVP, making those two fairly close.

In regards to which gets more attention; crossbows are a thing, so while the Baton might be unusual, it's not exactly something outside of their scope of experience. An item that can cure serious injuries in a few moments, on the other hand, doesn't really have an equivalent.

Ultimately I don't think it matters too much overall, since we're likely going to get a fair bit of attention either way.

One batch produces 10 thorns.
Might be a good idea to include in the description in the Production document.

Are the healing pods reuseable?

If no, alright, 10 HP pots. If yes, hell no, not selling 10 distinct batches of infinite healing when we could give him 5 or 6 crossbow equivalents that no one but us can make.

How much time would it cost to make 50 jars of dye, salve or weapon oil? As far as "harmless" exports go, I think those are the safe options.

Alternatively, would the smuggler also accept cold hard cash?

That is true. Even so, if that smuggler ends up selling a large amount of a product only we could have possibly produced, it's kind of a giveaway that we've had dealings with him.

Not that I'm too concerned... it's a very small risk, in my opinion. The man's not an idiot, and will probably sell the stuff somewhere far away anyway.

Actually... refresh my memory, please, have we sold healing pods through Givanni already? If yes, how high a payoff did we get from that? I'm kinda wondering if perhaps we might have missed an obvious possibility for another middleman for our wares this entire time. Did we ever promise Givanni exclusivity?

We only ever sold healing *salve*, which is good for minor stuff (cuts, bruises), but little more. Essentially a novelty. As such, it didn't get much attention.

Considering he's also a pirate, it's quite possible that Fadlan might not sell the pods, but keep them for his own use.

As for Dye vs. Pods; Dye is more time-efficient overall (500 DVP vs 600 DVP), but the healing pods might make more of a long-term impact, in making Fadlan interested in maintaining good business relations with us. As such, I feel it's worth the minor inefficiency in this case.

I'd rather go with Haze, the thing about haze is that it's just a narcotic, in the future healing pods will become linked to us. Do we want to have this pirate linked to us like that?

Yes, that's how I remembered it. Thanks.

Do we want long term impact? Truth be told, I'd rather not have people realize how much money they could make if they had us working for them full time. Kinda having second thoughts about having pirate-guy as a middleman, actually... on the other hand he's probably not stupid enough to pick a fight with the goose potentially quite dangerous sorcerer that lays golden eggs, merely for the possibility of bigger golden eggs. Sindri's excessive eeriness actually works in his favor here.

Hmm... I wonder if we could automate dye production into something that could be done entirely with creature dice? If we manage that, we'd probably be stinking rich before long.

Why do you guys want to sell healing pods anyway? We have plenty of other options that are just as potentially profitable and don't require us to sell something so obviously magical.

Having a pirate/smuggler amongst our contacts could be rather useful down the line; if nothing else, it means that the Givanni won't have a monopoly on us, so to speak. And Fadlan should be both clever enough to start thinking what other things we might be able to do, and with some research might also uncover our participation in the events in Astapor that ended up with that nice, eerie volcano.
Basically, we should present a decent combination of "I'm valuable" and "don't fuck with me" that he'll be more interested in having us as a friendly contact than hostile slave/captive.
And both are likely to increase as time goes on and we improve our capabilities.

That would be one potential avenue to investigate, yes.

In this particular instance, it's more that at first glance the Healing Pods were one of the most time-effective means of paying him.

But aren't the dyes more cost-effective? Sure they're less, but 50 are only 500DVP, compared to the 10 for 600DVP for pods.

This is a possible future business partner and a source of valuable information. The pods will endear ua to him when they save his life. He'll want more. We always planned on selling them. Why not to pirates?

Will it get us bad attention? Possibly. But our abilities have us going 90 miles on a collision course with fate anyway.

EVERYONE will want us. Or want no one else to have us.

For that reason; I'd like to remind my fellow players that we need to max out our combat skills, our creation skills and gain lots of wealth to buy an army and build a formidable fortress.

Poor, unsecured people who can perform major miracles are easy targets. Be wise.
