Gentlemen and gentleladies. This quest is back! Fuck my PC for erasing all progress, and then my muse for destroying the motivation for continuing it, but it is back! As can be seen, the first part of the results has been updated. Second part of said results are here!
As a general new year resolution, I aim to improve update speed, and continue-slash-restart quests that have been...well, abandoned, for lack of better words. I wish to offer my sincere apologies for the complete radio silence on A Restoration of Order and Peace.
It is highly advised to re-read the first part of the results.
Industry and Agriculture (Choose three)
Industry and Agriculture (Choose three)
The industry, together with agriculture, are both the lifeblood of any modern space-dwelling nation. From weapon plants to foundries, industry dictates what can be produced, how much can be produced and how high the quality is - while agriculture dictates what food can be grown and in which quantity.
[ ] The Creation of United Durasteel Limited
DC: 30
Roll: 48
Founding a company to take over the mining and otherwise acquiring of resources in Morshdine was, given the circumstances, surprisingly easy. With the New Republic pounding on the walls of Imperial civilisation, and existing laws already giving the Moffs and Grand Moffs extensive day to day and strategic influence over their fiefdoms, creating a company out of thin air was a comparatively easy thing to do. Within a week, United Durasteel Limited would appear, taking over a large portion of the mining and resource acquisition within the Oversector as a whole. Asteroid mining, the exploitation of land on ore-rich planets, operating mining stations and refineries: All of it would fall within the purview of this new institution, its employees and overseers loyal without question to Moff Fiosach.
Just why the company was so loyal, how it managed to corner the mining market, how it managed to build profitable agreements so quickly with the suddenly powerful Tatsura Conglomerate, and where it acquired the funds to become so powerful within just a few weeks, would remain a mystery for the civilian populace - except for those privy to the Imperial method of ruling, and just what it, together with the earlier war measures, could entail for the future of the Oversector.
Reward:
United Durasteel Limited, a front company ultimately owing loyalty solely to Moff Fiosach, is founded.
Every two turns, an option will be available to lobby Coruscant for reduced ore shipments, or reduced payments in lieu of said shipments.
[ ] Modernisation of Altyrian Agriculture
DC: 30.
Roll: 93
While not yet an agriworld, Altyr V has seen a serious expansion of the agricultural activities on the planet: Large parts of the center-most continent on the planet, judged to be the best location for farming of crops and lifestock, have seen the construction of hundreds of thousands of farming complexes, ranging from the small to the enormous, from spices to grains. Compared to the situation barely a few months ago, the situation has changed radically: A few dozen million acres were used then for the planting of crops and grazing livestock, simple subsistence farming in the global scale. But today, hundreds of thousands of million acres in use, the fields of mixed crops visible well beyond orbit! But this increased scale of operations could not be supported without an expanded, but above all
efficient financial system.
Masses of cheap and efficient farm-droids roam the surface, cultivating what will make any sort of blockade completely useless and any starvation campaign a waste of time. Deep beneath the surface, gigantic complexes reinforced to withstand orbital bombardment contain massive hydroponic tanks. If the sky itself went dark, if the enemy scorched the surface to bedrock, there would still be an enormous wealth of foodstuffs available for the Oversector. Livestock graze, drink, and live in complete docility. The herds provide the people with more than enough meat for a solid diet that, while perhaps not particularly tasty to those used to a luxurious life with rare ingredients and dishes, is more than enough to prevent starvation.
A wise investment for the future, a good starting export should production outgrow supply by a massive margin: The people of Oversector Morshdine shall never need to know the terror of famine.
"Permission from Imperial Center finally arrived for this project to get started - the Administrative Council can complain about the price and financial risk of what can basically be described as a small terraforming project all they want, but they cannot deny that they would rather pay the price than face a mob of starving people with nothing else to lose. I thank Elder Sister for getting them to see reason..."
- Personal notes, Arine Fiosach, head of the Imperial Commissariat of Industry and Agriculture
Reward:
Food security will no longer be a valid casus belli due to extensive agricultural processes on Altyr V.
Siege tactics by the New Republic will now be extremely ineffective!
Complete encirclement by New Republic forces will now no longer impact civilian and military morale!
Altyr V can now be tentatively classified as a semi-agriworld due to the intensive development of the planet for agricultural purposes.
The Morshdine Oversector will no longer face a famine.
Civilian Loyalty increases.
[ ] An expansion of the Tangrene Dockyards
DC: 40
Roll: 56
The many reversals of fortune in the Galactic Civil War, ranging from the defeat at Endor to the current New Republic offensive targeting Eriadu, have made the direness of the situation facing Morshdine clear. The need for larger and better shipyards grows ever-greater by the hour. There can be no more delay, no more half-hearted measures in an effort to appease the bean counters, as the entire fate of both the Morshdine Oversector, and that of the Quelii Oversector led by Warlord of the Empire Zsinj, is at risk should the New Republic reach the Hydian Way!
However, trying to build shipyards large enough to create Star Destroyers or even Heavy Cruisers is out of the question for now, both in terms of the time needed to actually finish construction of Dockyards that large and in terms of reactions from Coruscant. That does not mean that the Oversector is to be defenseless against the threat posed by pirates, slavers, renegades and the New Republic however: After all, while large ships may be out of the question for now, lighter vessels are not, and Arquitens-class light cruiser, if equipped with additional improved weaponry, can comfortably take on the standard New Republic CR-90 corvette, Marauder cruisers, and if equipped and prepared for it, Nebulon-B frigates.
With all that said, the expansion of the Tangrene Dockyards has proceeded right on schedule, finishing just before the deadline assigned to the construction companies that worked on it. As the new equipment is tested and readied, it will not be long before production of vessels with a length up to 450 metres long can begin.
"While this is good news, especially as the 12th Fleet is unable to adequately patrol the Oversector with their low numbers at present, I would have liked something more...substantive. Also, the people at Kuat who decided to name their escort craft after their larger Star Destroyers needs to be shot - A-class frigates are a joke undeserving of the 'Victory' name, and extremely poorly armed without additional improvements made to the design, Quasar Fire-class Cruiser-Carriers are barely modified civilian freighters with docking equipment bolted inside a freight pod, the list of unsatisfactory light ships in the Imperial Navy goes on. Of all the additional ships cleared for construction, only the Vanguard-class light cruiser is an adequate vessel for the Oversector, and even that
consumes vast swathes of manpower at over 20,000 crew per vessel."
- Personal notes, Moff Fiosach, 5 ABY
Reward:
The expansion of the Tangrene dockyards has allowed for ships with a length up to 450 metres to be laid down and enter construction.
Production of Quasar Fire-class Cruiser-Carriers, Victory II-class frigates, and Imperial II-class frigates has been allowed by Imperial Center.
The Victory II-class frigate has been renamed the "A-class Frigate".
The Imperial II-class frigate has ben renamed the "Vanguard-class light cruiser".
Military Militancy increases.
[ ] Opening the Edusa Mines
DC: 40
Roll: 59
The Galactic Civil War is not developing necessarily in the favour of the Galactic Empire, and the losses suffered by Imperial forces during the Outer Rim Withdrawal - as it is now unofficially known - have massively reduced the reach and power of Coruscant over the various Oversectors: An example of the loosening leash from Imperial Center is is the expansion, and opening of, a variety of mines on Edusa which without authorisation from Coruscant in earlier years of the Oversector would be almost impossible to turn a profit from or to even retain the resources they excavated. But with the state of the galaxy as it is at present, and a persistent lack of proper escorts for 'low priority resource convoys', Imperial Center has seen it fit to allow any and all resources mined by the Morshdine Oversector to be at the disposal of the local Moff - granted, of course, that large projects still bear the seal of approval of the Imperial Ruling Council.
This single move has secured a great deal of resources for domestic use by the Oversector, without which an expansion of the Merchant Marine, the construction of escort forces and larger ships, and the reinforcement of Imperial rule would be impossible: But with the Imperial Navy short on escorts and Imperial Center well aware of this fact, the responsibility for the safety of merchantmen and resource convoys, at least within the Oversector, now lays upon the 12th Sector Fleet and any ships built in domestic Dockyards.
It is a good thing then that the expanded - and new - mines have unearthed a large deposit of precious minerals that, when refined, can be turned in high-grade Durasteel: In fact, it can be turned in the grade of Durasteel that is perfectly suited for the armour plating of starships, from snubfighters to star cruisers. Together with the expanded shipyards and a burgeoning military-industrial complex, it may even be possible to purge the pirate and raider threat from the entirety of the Oversector, freeing up the 12th Sector Fleet for front-line duty...
"The output of already existing mines has increased by over 60 percent, while the new resource extraction initiatives have proven largely to be successful, raising the total amount of gained ore to 263 percent: This, however, only correlates to an improvement of 59 percent in Durasteel production. However, as clearance for asteroid mining is gained and other planets begin to do their part in acquiring resources and Durasteel, a large fleet - perhaps even with a Star Destroyer as flagship - can become a reality."
- Imperial Commissariat of Industry and Agriculture report, received by Moff Fiosach, 5 ABY
Reward:
Domestic Durasteel production begins to grow in scale. This reduces the need to import the material, and with the current production rate, allows for ships up to 450 metres to be produced without compromising civilian and military projects.
Unemployment numbers are plunging, and are likely going to remain low.
Production (Choose one)
The production of weapons, consumer goods, ships. All of it is directed from here, abstracted for easier management - while not demanding extremely large amounts of attention, this is an important part of any modern state.
Consumer goods: Meeting demand | Demand is increasing heavily| Production is barely keeping up
Military equipment (Army): Meeting demand | Demand is increasing | Production is barely keeping up
Naval ship construction (Navy): Meeting demand | Demand is stable | Construction of four Arquintens-class light cruisers finished -
Merchant ship production: Meeting demand | Demand is rising slowly | Production is keeping up
[ ] Expand production of civilian goods
With trade unfortunately not as good of an option given the increasingly hostile surroundings the Oversector finds itself in - ranging from rogue Imperial forces, New Republic raiders and scouts, pirates, and more - civilian products have to be produced domestically in ever greater quantities, and in factories and complexes suited more for peace-time production than the quick and often-times rough demands of wartime: And it would be a mistake to claim that Morshdine is not at war, not when the New Republic tries to intercept any and all Imperial convoy that they can get their hands on - which at times contain precious resources, consumer goods and more destined for the Oversector.
But with the shift to wartime production and the removal of the veil of peace, the seriousness of the situation has been made clear and an immediate rapid increase in production achieved. The factory line is now manned day and night, going from a single ten hour shift in the day to a new round-the-clock system, with multiple eight-hour shifts. The work force is busier and more productive than any point in the Sector's history, with the results from that policy producing results even only a few weeks after their adoption. While new facilities have sprung up to support the growing need for civilian goods and products, it is expected that the demand will soon level out with the extensive war measures now being put in place.
For now however, the population can enjoy the increased amount of goods on the market.
I wish to offer my sincere apologies, again, on the radio silence that has befallen this quest. Last two results, Diplomacy and Backdoor Talks, will be up later the week.
