In the end, this Lowly Rat called Ciel achieved something other people in this setting would murder entire districts for: a happy ending with people he loves.
Truly, we managed to guide him to glory.

It might have not been the glory that ciel was looking from the beginning, and yet I believe we truly achieved the best ending in the City.

I am content with it

Honestly I can't wait to see what you do next. Maybe a quest about someone starting a corp with ambitions of becoming a wing? Maybe some more Hollow Knight stuff? Who knows!!

other than Maria's.... whatever she is (QoH aberration?), i felt like this is a good ending. abrupt but definitely good. though it's a bit odd that Iori told Ciel to "move out of district 9" as if she knows the pianist would be there in a few years.

"So you have indeed awakened before your time."

We are shacking off the disease of the mind it seems, years out of schedule since most can't before the seed shines over the city.

Some will betray you, some will be killed by the enemies you will certainly make on your way to the top. And with each one you will break more because opening your heart means you accept the eventual pain of loss.

High chances of distorting, in short.

Mai takes your other hand, wide awake and smirking.

The end is nigh, the signs are there, prepare for the apocalypse! :V

Maria is swept up in that particular case, though she seems to keep thriving as a Grade 1 Fixer.

Only grade 1? I would have expected her to be a color by now.

And when your time does come, you will hope to meet everyone again. Wherever it is that one goes when they die.

May we meet again, as stars.

This left me two options beside the one I have taken: either I go through with it again and again in accordance with the setting, which I am plainly uncomfortable with inflicting both on myself and the players

Particularly since there is only a limited number of time you can do a *mission or heart?* scene before the voters call you out on it.

As is, I will go with *the prescripts didn't want Ciel to reach Color rank, but joke's on them they found something better to live for*

Now, the most important question:

Who asked the other in marriage first Ciel or Parvati?

Oh, and what's the deal with Maria, that too, not like I'm chomping on the bits to learn more on this, no siree.

She is mastermind of library of ruina, of course, she knows that pianist would be.

i don't think her plan reached that far. cause she knows about the library before the library was able to receive guest, she knows that it's related to the white nights and dark days, but i don't think she set up the pianist to happen YEARS before the Library.
cause that would mean she knows

1. that the script will fail on the last second
2. about the library before LC gets buried
3. that it will create distortion (EGO counterpart)
4. how to trigger a distortion
5. the right person who can distort that can do a lot of damage.

and this is before Angela knows what distortion is (she only finds out about the distortion phenome after like, Zwei I?).
unless you're saying Ayin got some help from Iori making that script.

Her entire thing is knowing things.way ahead of everyone, and she most definitely planned out the entirety of the library Scenario since she knows when to send Roland and went to do things but anyway. I'm glad this is a good ending that we achieved.
And cause we didn't go that high we didn't became a massive target and becomes a danger of every single one around us.
Sad that we didn't get to become a color, but honestly becoming a color is just asking for trouble and it is much better that we can just sit around and enjoy a happy life

And the book closes on this one's story.

Very lovely. Ciel may not have become the Color he wanted to be, but he got to be something even rarer than that: Someone with a genuine, happy ending in The City.

I wonder what will be next

CIel's arc seems satisfactorily concluded, but there were a few loose ends I had hoped would be answered before the end arrived. I was expecting there to be an in-universe reason for the timeline switches such as the Purple Tear nudging instances where she needs Ciel alive for some grander purpose. Maria's deal is still a mystery to me, I need to know more than "she's literally QoH" damnit!
Maria is really the one loose end I had to leave as is, simply because this resolution would have been difficult to weave into here outside of having Maria around for Elena where she would have to reveal herself to fight Elena off. But, well... Ciel did not have Maria there.

That aside, she is a Queen of Hatred who escaped a Lobotomy Corporation branch facility in District 23 and started out as a Fixer while trying not to let it slip she is not quite human. Hence why she used no magic where others could see (but totally teleported around instead of taking the train) and changed her outfit to be a shirt and pants instead of skirt and vest, plus a pair of glasses for extra camouflage. There was nothing great going on there beyond the fact she was an Abnormality figuring out how to human.

If you were to reread the Highlight Heroes section, you may find a mention of the nearby L-Corp facility collapsing not long before Ciel arrived in the area.

There was no canonical link into the resets beyond the fact Project Moon openly works with the Multiverse theory. I am rather sure I communicated that in the past, though.

No more Quests for now, I can say that much. My being out of ideas aside, keeping one of those going in addition to my regular writing eats up a decent chunk of time. Although it also taught me that my limits improved and made for decent practice, considering I managed 380k on top of my usual load in the last sixteen months.

Radiant Rebirth will be my only project for a while; depending on how some things shake out, I may end up posting a second story before that one is finished.

The way I interpret what we know of her powers, Iori can actually intersect with herself in another timeline at an earlier point to effectively pass knowledge back in time. Hence why she managed to bring forth this completely unlikely scenario that is LoR's true end. So this is what I worked with here.
Who asked the other in marriage first Ciel or Parvati?
Parvati, obviously :V

You know, I wanted to joke she was Ai in disguise... well, that would have aged like vine. :V

But was the dinner a Chief worthy one? :V

It just occurred to me that I am three for three on Queenie-appearances in these Quests. And I am not sure what to make of that.

Should have gone with Courage for that one, would've taught you to make friends with people

Glad to see you finished another Quest, Naron!

...okay, when I put it that way, it feels like I'm saying it was bad or I didn't enjoy it. Uh. Congratulations on having the tenacity and grit to see this endeavor through to is conclusion! Hope to see more from you in the future, Quest or otherwise.

...I should probably pop over and see how that Radiant-in-RWBY fic is going.

All good, I get what you mean. And feel free to drop by for the other story, the fun stuff is about to start there soon-ish

That we all know you are the Jester in disguise? Stop following the Poor Queen of Hatred, she just wants to be judge, jury, and executioner. :V

By the way, kudos on having an actual abnormality appears right as we have an arc about people that gains their characteristics but aren't actually them, really threw us on a red herring, even the hint was not part of it, yeah, a L-corp facility exploded, but that just means that these people have something to do with it (well, what it means without hindsight, I mean).

By the way, what was the deal with the Highlight Heroes? Was it actually EGO corrosion as some postulated?

And how would Ciel as they are in the epilogue would react if learning about Maria's true nature, in fact, did they?

Edit:

Actually, an idea struck me:

Ai and Maria meeting right in front of Ciel, how do they explain since they look like twins.
