This gives me an image of a Claw liking someone and trying to flirt, but failing due to their presence freaking out the person and everyone else around them due to repeated Claw visits. A Rom-Com using The City as it's setting seems like it be a fun read.

The City is so bizarre that there almost definitely needs to be a book or TV romantic comedy that plays on the theme.

I'm pretty sure that even in the City it is illegal to threaten a person directly with legal action. Not to mention possible laws against fraudulent use of trade dress and affecting the public image of a government agent/employee of C-Corp, both as an individual and by corporation.

Yeah, let's not do that. That's just asking for a visit from Claw.

Hey hey, we're not threatening them, not directly anyway. We're just letting people see this neat card we got. We never technically said we were friends with a Claw. He just made a visit, had some conversation with us, and personally handed us his card. Any conclusions they draw from that are their own. If the other person just so happens to think we're associated with a Claw and decides to get out of our way, well, that's their fault for making ideas with incomplete information.

Isn't one of the ABC Corps practically omniscient and could immediately tell that's bs and send a warning?

The card is still useful as being able to get in contact with a claw without committing tax fraud could be useful at some point in the future. Not immediately though

I mean, we don't need to purposely use the card... If it just happened to fall out of our pockets in the middle of a fight against a formidable enemy, or when we're backed into a corner, whatever they think it means is what they think. We aren't directly responsible at all for what they might imagine...

Technically speaking, there's no BS in what we say. Rather, it's in what we haven't said. We're telling the truth and nothing but the truth, just not the whole truth. All we say will be completely valid to the letter. It's like the mindset of a City contract: Didn't get what you wanted? Feel like you got deceived? Sorry bud, but ya should've taken a better look.

People, it's a bad bluff that we have no way of even faking backing up and has a non-zero chance of pissing off the most powerful organization in the city regardless of its success. Also anyone with more than a room temperature IQ is going to see through it instantly.

I personally don't want to do a dump with the card, instead I want to build the contact into a friendship just for the hilarity of us going drinking with coworkers, them all freezing up when a Claw shows up...only for us to wave them over and they sit down to join us for a drink.

True, however, the Head or whoever checks for that crap would have to understand the technicality of what's being said to let us off the hook for it, And I doubt they would be like "Well technically he isn't claiming to be an associate of a claw" they would just send a guy down to kill ciel anyway since they can read the purpose of the bluff, know what an implication is.

Ok I just had a terrifying thought: Is Maria an enkephalin junkie? Cause that would explain the weird weapon, behavior, and strength despite being only a grade 7. Hell she might be a member of the Highlight Heroes that's just going after other syndicates to eliminate competition.

...hmm
Judging by how even the rats are disgusted by enkephalin junkies
I don't think she is
After all, in ruina at the first section of the game when we are fighting rats, they did indirectly say that the bodies of those junkies are very very fucked up.

While that could be the case, I don't think it's that likely. Not only has she been a member of the String Office for a while (they probably would have noticed a change/suspicious activities), we specifically mentioned her smile being more genuine and kind rather than the "lights are on but nobody is home" smile that the Highlight Hero we fought had. Also, she has nice clothes which are expensive, and last I checked buying tons of drugs and then distributing them by force (aka not selling and therefore not making a huge profit) would be a very costly endeavor.

She isn't a member of the office though?

"Absolutely," one of the String Fixers agrees in passing. "But she's also one of the best in the area. Hasn't been around long, but she takes on Urban Plagues and Urban Nightmares on her own. So we don't say anything and play along."

I don't have anything to refute your other points though so I'm hoping you're right and I'm just being paranoid.

Tbf being paranoid in the city is what keeps you alive, so good on you. I just really like the character and hope they are actually a nice person that creeps people out because they are nice instead of a happy drug junky. My bad on the first part though, I misread that line as her being a part of the office as a member.
Although since she isn't, it is now possible to see her in our district simply because she wanders around doing jobs (which seems like it would be in character for her) and just have her show up at the house one day out of nowhere. :V

I see...
*Having drank Coffee and Earl Grey Tea in the same day*
So all I need is to take more drugs, and that'll be 3 out of 9 Sephirah turn'ed into

Drinks Monster Energy for Gerburah and have a heart attack

How about we don't test whether the Head likes it if people "creatively interpret" those kinds of things, eh?

I got delayed, but it is now time to close the votes.

A unanimous call for interference. I admit I kind of expected something like that already, but so it goes.

Sometimes morals and practicality overlap, even in The City.
