A Pure Sword, A Pure Soul (Bleach)

Any suggestions or things you'd like to see to make it easier to remember? Or will that just happen as the quest goes on? The rapid-fire introductions will be slowing down soon for a little bit, allowing the cast directly connected to Chiyu (her family and friends/classmates) to develop a bit more naturally. I'll put a character list into the informational threadmarks in the near future.
All of this sounds good. Sounds like everything's gonna be good.

As for character designs, don't worry about it. You don't need super detailed descriptions of how a character looks like in a writing medium. That's something a reader can fill in the blanks with so long as you give a general feel of the character.

The Character Sheet has been updated with stats, more will follow.

The Exp allocation vote will start at 1pm EST, tomorrow, on Wednesday the 13th, when the current vote closes.

It's less that and more I don't really know how to go about getting art.

You can check SV's own artist commission registry to see artists willing to make art for money. Find someone whose style and prices you like, then send them a message to ask them if they can draw something for you. It's good to have reference images (images that approximate what you want (e.g. a picture of a soul reaper so the artist knows what the uniform looks like) on hand when asking. In my experience, you send money to the artist's paypal when they've finished working on the piece, but it's always best to ask about payment details before the artist starts drawing.

One artist I'd like to recommend is Jen, who I've commissioned to draw several Bleach characters in the past. You can find them in the Number None thread by searching for "jen" by "Andres" in the search bar.

  • [X] Ask for the Mod Soul back. You'll have to sit it down and lay out some ground rules, but it can't be all bad if it was able to evade someone like Kori for a couple of hours, and kill a Hollow to boot.
[X] You'll just take whatever artificial soul Mai had wanted in the first place. Or, if Kori's out of stock with those, you'll take whatever normal artificial soul she has. Preferably in a sealed container so you know it's real.

CONGRATULATIONS!
You've completed the first volume of A Pure Sword, A Pure Soul, in recognition of this truly monumental occasion, you have been allocated 150 Experience Points!

You can allocate your experience points however you want, though limiting yourself to multiples of 5 would be appreciated. Please refer to the Mechanics informational threadmark for skill upgrade costs. Sub-Skills will be offered once Chiyu is more used to her powers. Even if you want to dump all of your points into one skill, please still include the number in your vote.

[] Armed Combat (Novice/Unfavored)

[] Unarmed Combat (Student/Favored)

[] Movement Arts (Competent/Favored)

Alright, this is simple to me.

One favoured skill at not Competent, therefore raise it.

I don't know. Feels like we should get our blade skill to Student, just so we aren't dependent on out punching every hollow we meet.
[X] Plan no one trick ponies here.

One: I hate jack of all trades.
Two: Speed is always the best thing to raise, it allows you to attack before the opponent, to attack more than the opponent, to flee if you can't hurt your opponent, it does everything. You are either fast, or dead.

hmm, so to be honest I'm just not a fan of our build in general. I consider unarmed combat a nearly worthless skill and I have no idea why we choose to favor it.

No idea either, Bleach is a setting about having cool swords, I don't really know why you would want unarmed combat.
Not influencing the vote or your build or anything here, but if I run another quest hand-to-hand isn't going to be an option.

That doesn't mean you need to raise it now, or focus on it early on because it will stay cheap to raise if you do chose to focus on other stuff.

There are other ways of avoiding damage in Bleach other than running away from it. Granted, those aren't all available to a base-level Soul Reaper, but be aware there are other options out there.

Also, to everyone with concerns about the long-term viability of hand-to-hand, take a look at the records of the most prominent hakuda users in canon; Yoruichi, Soi-Fon, Kensei...

Not telling anyone to use meta-knowledge, but it's probably more forgivable in stat/build votes.

Bakudo is definitely the actual best option, and the most inaccessible, unfortunately, durability is good until it isn't, since your not even trying to dodge if you're relying on it, killing them before they can kill you is reliant on speed so.... I have no real ideas after this.

My goal is more, get the basics to a basic level(student) before we specialize. I'm raising unarmed because one of our combat techniques should be reliable, but after that, it's all in on raising Movement Arts and Reiryoku Manipulation to Notable.

Problem is that long terms plans are incredibly difficult to follow on quests, I know it, one of my plans for a quest I follow on another site is getting ignored despite having been followed until now because a shiny thing appeared, this constantly happens on all quests.

I know, I've only found one quest where everyone stays on the same page. But still, we saw in this last battle where Chiyu was undeniably the faster opponent, but was unable to exploit any of it into a reliable attack without straining her powers. A strong foundation is the key to every great warrior.

That said, your point about longterm plans stands, so I'll focus on Favored skills and save time.

I'll be supporting either Movement Arts or Reiryoku Manipulation when it comes to the upcoming training our powers segment.
