Despite the creeping sleepiness hitting you full force, you turn your eyes on Langley. The carrier sits on her own bed, waiting for whatever questions you may have. And of the plethora of potential questions to ask, two in particular came to mind.

"Who else has...come back? Like this?"

Was your first question. After all, you needed to have an idea of who you would be working with. And a small, selfish part of you, wanted to know if your elder sister was among them. Utah wasn't, or Langley and Captain Anderson wouldn't have visited her hull. But what about Pennsylvania? Was your sister one of the other warships to return? Or was she still sleeping, as you had been? That question was eating at you, more than you might want to admit. After all...you could only imagine what your sister had been through, after you died.

And, yes, you wanted to see her yourself. Hug her tightly, and make sure you weren't torn apart again.

Langley, for her part, had her soft smile turn distinctly sad.

"Not many of us have, Arizona." Her voice was just as soft, as the motherly carrier looked down at her hands. "A handful of my...daughters. Two other dreadnoughts. Several cruisers, and maybe two dozen destroyers."

"Who...?"

"Enterprise, Yorktown, Lexington, Saratoga, and Ranger." Langley answered your question before you could finish asking. "Pennsylvania, and Washington. All of the Northampton sisters, in addition to Pensacola and Salt Lake City. Quite a few girls you wouldn't know, for our light cruisers and destroyers."

You let out a breath you hadn't realized you'd been holding in, "Pennsylvania?"

Langley's motherly smile was out in full force again, "Yes, your sister was the first dreadnought to come back. She was quite upset when she realized that, in fact. Your sister misses you quite dearly, Arizona. She is stationed at San Diego right now, or I would have suggested the Admiral bring her here."

You were so relived to hear that. Sure, your sister wasn't with you in Pearl. But at least she was back. It may be some time before you met her again, but you could wait. You were patient. It may not be fun, it may be a long wait. But you could wait. Your sister would be with you again, some day. No matter when that day came, it was something to look forward to.

"As for who is here, with us..." Langley continued, getting your attention back on her. "Lexington is on patrol right now, but she is normally stationed here. As is Salt Lake City, Louisville, Cleveland, Juneau, and several destroyers. You will probably meet them tomorrow, I would imagine."

That was...well, cross that bridge when you came to it.

"Do you have anything else you want to know?" The blonde looked at you expectantly.

There were a lot of things, that you could ask. Where the others were stationed, perhaps. But for now...for now, you needed to ask just one question before you went to sleep.

"How badly were we hit?" Worry was clear in your tone, as you looked out the small window. "How bad are the States?"

Langley's smile faded, as she looked down at her hands, "I won't lie to you Arizona. We have been hit badly. Only four of our carriers are still operational, outside those like us. The Abyssals...they haven't attacked our cities recently, but San Francisco was hit hard a month ago. Other coastal cities have faced the same...if it weren't for us, Pearl would be in ruins."

The carrier sighed softly, her yellow eyes filled with sadness.

"The Atlantic was hit just as hard. New York and Boston are still recovering, even now. It has...it has not been an easy time, Arizona."

You looked down, clenching fists in the fabric of your blanket. Letting out a shaky breath, you gave Langley a weak smile. It hurt to know this, but at least you knew. And you could fight now, do what you weren't able to do before. Even if you had to learn how to use this body, at least you could fight.

For now though...you turned away from the carrier, and readied for bed. Further questions could wait for the morning, when you had a clearer head.

It would be bright sunlight that woke you, several hours later. Blinking brown eyes, you stretched in bed, the unusual feeling of...well, everything...staying with you. Pulling yourself up, you looked for Langley, wondering if she could show you around. But her bed was empty, save for a neatly written note. Leaving your bed behind, you walked over to the carrier's bed, picking up the small note.

~I am on duty, training in the harbor today. I have left a request with the Admiral to have you escorted through the base by one of our destroyers, if that is alright? I should be free for lunch, if you have any more questions you would like to ask me. Have a good morning, Arizona. - Langley

Cocking your head to the side, you read the note again, wondering which destroyer would escort you. Shrugging ever so slightly and deciding you would find out eventually, you set the note down and set about changing clothing. It was only when you were once more in your uniform- or what passed as one for you -that you moved to open the door.

And face your first day, in this form.

[] Find the destroyer.

[] Look for the Admiral himself. Perhaps he can answer more questions?

Oh hell yes. I half-suspect that the officers on-base will want to keep the fact that Arizona's back a secret for now, lest Pennsylvania be tempted to come running down to Pearl. Depends on her temperament, I guess.

...hm....with Lexington and Langley providing air cover, and a few destroyers as escort, Arizona might be pretty valuable heavyweight asset to have for Pearl. At the very least, she'd be damn useful for defensive operations. Hopefully she can get a major overhaul to her AA armament, at the least. Let's try to hang on to those torpedo tubes, though, if possible.

That has the downside of pissing off Pennsylvania when she inevitably finds out/is told later.

Those torps were directly hull mounted IIRC and don't really have firing arcs. Limited utility at best, and they are weak spots in her armor and hull.

Always good to find other shipgirls. If the admiral wants us we'll know it.
