One of the Brightest Stars
So a few things here..
First, Syllia is now firmly in the sights of everyone who matters at the highest levels of magical power on the continent. She's definitely made an impression on Kael'thas. Her ability to fly under the radar is toast and I don't think she even noticed.
Second, eventually they're going to ask how Syllia knows what she knows. Is it some form of precognition? Unconscious scrying? I'm sure they're going to try and find out if only because her ability to know things could be very useful in the future.
Third, Syllia seems to think they aren't paying attention to her because they don't care that she's listening in. My money is on them not particularly caring because she's not going to be allowed to leave.
Fourth, Kael'thas is going to order an investigation into exactly who Syllia is sooner rather than later. It might not be in his top ten concerns but it is definitely going to be on the priority list. I really hope her mother is either in hiding or somehow managed to fly under the radar herself. If not there's going to be all kinds of interest in who might be Syllia's father.
Fifth, sooner or later Syllia's classmates are going to realize she's missing. They're going to ask questions. I can't wait to see their reaction to the fact that questions about Syllia might well end with "by royal decree stop asking these questions."
Answering in order
1. Yep, her days of coasting will soon be over.
2. Useful, yes. Maybe less so as the timeline starts to go all 'butterfly effect' on Azeroth.
3. Well it's more like she was brought in by Krasus. They assume she'll be able to keep her mouth shut. Also, when you've already told them essentially the creation myth of Azeroth (minus things she might of forgotten or stuff she thought wasn't necessary to the conversation about the immediate threat like the existence of the draenei or the curse of flesh that made humans/dwarfs/gnomes) it can be argued that anything they say will be far less damning then that.
4. He can look, but like everyone else, they will find nothing (because there is nothing). Of course the absence of evidence will just make all parties think the secret is super well hidden rather than nothing being there.
5. She's actually going to return to her classmates by the next day, after spending all night in the Council chambers in shock. The big question will be why is Prince Kael'Thas going to this lower noble child with seemingly no political connections. My money is that her being the Prince's illegitimate child will be one of the popular theories.
I think at least half the archmages there are, in some way or form, considering ways to get her to talk more about other things they are personally curious about.
More then half, but Krasus will run interference for her since he "knows" why she knows all that stuff and it would be very awkward to talk about.
Or at least, he thinks he knows why she knows that stuff.
Always was, I'm just super slow when I write. Also the recent stuff at Blizzard makes getting invested in the Warcraft universe a little hard.
And you finally advanced the story, thought I'd never see the day.![]()
And now you get to wait several months for the next chapter
I kid!
...I hope.
Just confusing as hell like I did not travel back in time did I? Cause I did really bad in my exams and would have been very crossed if even going back in time did not fix it.
No you did not travel back in time, I just forgot to post this chapter here for a while and thus decided to just smoosh two chapters into one.
She might not have have saved Stratholme, but the Eastern Kingdoms may still survive with the insight she has into Arthas and the Scourge's goals.
And if she can get a message to Jaina and thence to Thrall, she might be able to stop some of the destruction in Kalimdor.
Don't give up, Silly!
Unrelatedly, I'm wondering if her mentioning Medivh in her entrance exam is what tipped people off she was more than she seemed.
Mentioning Medivh did get their attention to a degree, but she really caught their eye when Krasus noticed her during her entrance exam into Dath'Remar.
As for why she stood out, two reasons.
First: It's because [REDACTED]....and thus it's perfectly understandable why Alexstrasza and Kraus want to help her. Pretty mind bendy explanation, I know, but it does make more sense.
Second: More a question then a reason. If Syllia just spilled a bunch of stuff that can/will radically change the timeline, why haven't the Bronze Dragons put a hit out on her or dragged her to their lair and demand to know what the hell she thinks she's doing?
Huh. Well, at least she doesn't need to convince anyone she knows what she's talking about.
The biggest twist of my story yet: reasonable authority figures who actually do stuff!
Perhaps they are assuming she's a dragon or something else? The unknow mage seemed uncertain about her age, and if there's anyone who's gonna discover that the Elf isn't an "Elf" it would be the council containing some of the best mages in the eastern lands. Even if they don't know her exact race they are presumely sensing something, i'd wager.
And given her vast in depth apparent knowledge on the events they received, abit abridget, would indicate she is someone high up on some totem pole out there. Though, she was still called child later by Antonidas. Either way, i suspect they think Sylvia is someone far more powerfull then what she seems.
It's more the fact she had Krasus coming in and saying 'everyone listen to her' that got them all to take her seriously. Add in that the report matches what Jaina had sent them days earlier, and either their security is horrifically compromised to the point where a student can breach it or she's telling the truth.
Physically, how old Syllia looks now? Is she fully-grown yet, as a 21-year old high elf?
Elf aging is weird and all over the place.
Going just by high elves/blood elves : In some cases, they are described to age just like humans (until they hit 'young adult' then they just stop for a few thousand years) in others, they only reach physical maturity around 60 human years and die in their 400s.
Take Valeera Sanguinar. A blood elf who was a child (little kid) during the scourge but in 5 short years grew substantially (in all regards).

Maybe she had a growth spurt. But my guess is that whoever wrote the comic just didn't realize how close the time between Warcraft 3 and World of Warcraft was.
As for Syllia, she would look like an older teen to young adult (18, 19, 20 ish in human terms). And look somthing like this.

For the record, in this story Syllia will be older than Valeera, despite looking younger than Valeera.
*sigh* Damnit. Why is it the protagonist is always only half trained when things kick off in these types of stories?
Because it adds tension. Also allows a 'trial by fire' sort of scenario as all the untested students are pushed into a sink or swim situation where they have to put their limited skills to the test.
Of course, Syllia and all the other students at her school have had over a decade of the highest quality education in the kingdom. In terms of raw skill/talent, they probably out match most of the other mages of the kingdom. What they sorely lack, however, is experience.
