43k Mechanicus: Surviving the Imperiums Fall

i have decided that i will do 1 year turns until we reach the first decade and at that time i might change it to decade turns if i feel the quest needs new pacing

000.M43 Turn 1 part 1
winning vote: Plan Our dark corner in the galaxy

You are fabricator general Almiz of the soon to be forge world of Zalam. Currently you are in orbit of your new forge world. Zalam is the second Mon of a gas giant that orbits a red dwarf. The Solum system is composed of two inner barren planets (Solum I and II) which are of little note. Then comes asteroid belt followed by another rocky world (Solum III). After that another asteroid belt that is followed by yet another barren world (Solum IV). Next comes the systems single gas giant Solum V with three moons one of which is your home.

The Solum system gained its name due to being located in a nearly empty sub sector of the Cuprum sector known as Finantium. Not that the Cuprum sector is heavily populated to begin with. The sector being so newly established that at best only the world of Cuprum itself could be considered a hive world. The Finantium sub sector lies at the edge of the galaxy and Imperial space with only the blackness of intergalactic space coming after it.

Zalam it's self barely receives any light from its parent star. Your records show that the planet was originally categorized as a standard habitable planet by the administratum but after the first landing parties where killed to a man you were forced to reclassify it as a death world. The flora and fauna of this planet have long been adapted and molded by the dark. Most creatures have some form of bio-luminescence and those that don't are even more deadly than the latter as you won't see them coming until it's too late.

When your sect lobbied the fabricator general of Ryza for this colonization mission they were not meet with much enthusiasm. The excuses where plentiful, Ryza was just starting to recover from two successive waaaaaghs and on the galactic scale the Imperium was in no better shape. With wars on all fronts and Gulliman busy marshaling all the resources of the Imperium to fight the Tyranids there was little to spare for you. Due to this you were only given three Cobra class destroyers and two colony ships. The colony ships upon landing would be dismantled and their plasma reactors would be re purposed to power the fledgling colony.

In the same manner that you're your fleet is undersized so are your supply's. Where normally a colonization mission would be given enough food and resources for a decade with continuous resupply missions. You barely had enough resources to last three years and that was after rationing was implemented with no hope for resupply.

In the grand scheme of things there is one small blessing to be found from the Omnissiah. On your third orbit over the planet your sensors detected the ruins of an imperial colony that belonged to the M41 colonization effort into the sector. It appears the colony was overrun by the same wildlife that has killed your scouts. Upon further investigation it was revealed that these ruins held an intact small plasma reactor along with extensive geological data. (+1 starting small plasma reactor, 50 hab blocks, all mining and settlement locations revealed).

Capital placement
You have 500,000 population each hab blocks gives living room for 5,000
[ ] Defunct Imperial colony: The dead imperial colony could be restored and expended with minimal effort as its curtain wall is only breached at 24 different locations (50 preexisting hab blocks, 1 preexisting small plasma reactor, -100,000 metal, -50,000 promethium)

[ ] Omnissiah falls: These are the largest set of waterfalls on the planet with an untold quantity of water falling from them every second. It is far out of your reach but one day these falls could be turned into a powerful powerplant outputting more power than a hundred plasma reactors. (unlocked hydropower project, -at least 1 colony ship, -100,000 metal, -50,000 promethium, +50 hab blocks)

[ ] The southern steppes: As far as you can tell this is the safest place on the planet to establish a colony (-at least 1 colony ship, -50,000 metal, -25,000 promethium, +50 hab blocks)

[] The frigid North: This colony site sits onto of an ocean of promethium. (50% cost to establish 20 promethium fields, -at least 1 colony ship, -100,000 metal, -50,000 promethium , +50 hab blocks)

[ ] Volcano: This colony site sits near the largest volcano on the world. While you don't have the STC for geothermal power plants currently you could perhaps build your own. (Unlocks Geothermal power research, -at least 1 colony ship, -100,000 metal, -50,000 promethium , +50 hab blocks,

(all colony cites can be expanded to hold more population by doubling the cost)

Staring buildings
Small plasma reactor 1
Hab blocks x50

Planet data
2,000 shaft mine locations

800 strip mine locations

200 Promethium fields

50 mega colony cites

1,000 large colony cites

5,000 medium colony cites

10,000 small colony cites

I will add that you guys need to add buildings to your plans just choosing a landing cite is not enough. You can build as many as you want each turn as long as you have the resources
