40K - Chronicles of The Koronus Expanse

Eldar Coffers
You and a portion of the crew spend a few hours opening some of the coffers
barely making a dent in the collection.

the finds are... mostly mundane
minor jewelry, combs, goblets, all of differing ages and makes
everything is checked and appears as mundane as an Eldar made thing can be.

One item stands out

A diorama of a arboretum
Filled with plants and trees

resonating with a pulse that your navigator can read as a destination.

You only have a very tiny sample to work with here
It takes an hour of examination before you work out how to open the first coffer
and each one takes the same time frame to open, quite a puzzle these boxes

inside of four boxes is nothing really special, art items
Plates of images of skeletal figures bowing before more ... filled in figures
of beings being sliced apart or evaporating before them

The last box is harder to open, seeming to contain what is within rather than a simple item.

Inside are two gems. One green in a hexagonal cut, one red in a triangular cut.
they shimmer slightly and you think... that they are laced with circuitry of some sort.

Science the Gems

You secret your self away in a hidden section of your quarters, behind hidden doors and airlocks
for the mechanicus will kill for that is in these rooms
Taking out an Auspex you begin to run basic tests, scans and probes against these gems

Tech-use 41 vs 15

The Gems are artificial, signs of manufacture clear.
they form hexagonal circuitry and clear paths
each emits a low powered em field, but seeming has no source of power.
finally you find what seems to be an interface and connect a datapad.

DATA - overwhelming amounts of data is found by the pad.
once the feed stabilizes you find schematics and chemical formulas for hundreds of thousands of devices and materials.
You will need to spend much more time working out what is present here.
One thing that presents itself however.
the first two formula seems to be the chemistry of the gems.
with a suggestion of immersing one of them within the appropriate solution.

Sample the items

[ ] open Crystal coffers
[ ] open Ork boxes
[ ] RT only - Open the Glyph marked boxes.

[ ] Investigate the Data overload
[ ] Make a small sample of the gem's chemical formula

Investigate the Data Overload

Back and forth you go, reading ratifying and verifying data
Massive Massive Massive amounts of data...

Challenging Tech use 41 VS 40

Schematics
Chemical formula
theory on the above
Science text books
Cultural refences

Just one of these Gems holds the entire knowledge base of the planet it came from. The Green Gem has references it was created by Cain on the Green Planet, the Red Gem from Able of the Red Planet
To preserve their knowledge and to fight against another world... What that world is and it's name and nature are redacted behind another layer of encryption. One that would take many years to break.
A power reactor of some sort using a gem
A Titan size robot
Manufacturing plant for the above

Eldar Diorama and Genesis System 1
Ship stores: 177 Days remain

[X] Have the navigator check the Eldar diorama

You hand the diorama to Bella, she turns away to towards the light of the emperor and unveils her third eye.
under it's relentless gaze the diorama comes to life, plants swaying in a breeze, growing, constructs moving to harvest.
after a while, she veils her eye and turns back, a small plaque of wraithbone emerging from the diorama.

Bella sees the start of journey, from the station now known as footfall to a dozen worlds leading deep into the expanse
A Journey that takes 6 months by warp in total. Moving from world to world.
At the end... An Eldar Void Station.

"This holds a warp route. a complex length route from footfall to a eldar void station in the far realms"
"It looks like a path that avoids the major pitfalls and storms in this area, but I would not recommend following the full route.
we would need to establish supply points or find supply along the way"

[X] Genesis system 1

It takes 5 days of travel but you pull into orbit and scan the world below.
The basic information you can get is as follows.

Type: Planet
Body: Vast
Gravity: High
Atmospheric Presence: Heavy
Atmospheric Composition: Toxic
Climate: Burning World
Habitability: Inhospitable
Major Continents or Archipelagos: None
Smaller Islands: None
Territories: None
Base Mineral Resources:
• Plentiful (178) industrial metals
• Limited (33) ornamentals
• Plentiful (104) radioactives

Genesys System 1-1
Ship stores: 177 Days remain

You stand beside the main auspex panels
Reading over the results of many scans for both System 1 and it's large moon 1-1 as the Mechanius put it.
Genesys 1 is a large burning hell, it's air toxic and ground burning. it is mostly flat plains with few defining features
the high speed winds have ground most mountains down to nothing.
very large deposits of industrial metals and radio-actives
with reason deposits of ornamentals.

1-1 is a little more interesting.
It has a small amount of radioactives present, with ruins of a human installation.
Some economical deposits of industrial metals as well.

5 larges seas interspersed with 15 mesas

Type: Moon
Body: Large and Dense
Gravity: Normal
Atmospheric Presence: None
Atmospheric Composition: None
Climate: Burning World
Habitability: Inhospitable
Major Continents or Archipelagos: 5
Smaller Islands: 15

Plan Explore more!
Ship stores: 177 Days remain

[X] Explore another planet.
-If possible check out the ruins on moon 1-1
-If we can't explore the ruins for whatever reason, do a thorough scan of the ruins.

This ruin is a small part of what was a much larger complex
it has been preserved under the rubble and meteorite falls
it is a maze of corridors and small rooms, with some large collapses blocking out sections
there are machines everywhere, nothing intact and working so far but all could be salvaged into valuable arechotech for the mechanicus

The next closet is a station, signs of human manufacture.

Derelict Defense Station
Ship stores: 173 Days remain

Your ship approaches the station.
This is human make and manufacture, the product of a holy STC.
This might have been intended to defend either the moon base or another colony site within the system
Alas, time and entropy has been at it's systems
it is barely holding together and is now best salvaged.

Station Type: STC Defence Station
Armour: 10
Hull Integrity: 13
Archeotech Resources: Plentiful (178)

[ ] Make a small sample of the gem's chemical formula
- [ ] and immerse the green gem
- [ ] and Immerse the red gem

[ ] Plant a beacon claiming the system in your Dynasty's Name
- [ ] for colonization
- [ ] for sale
[ ] Salvage\Raid a cache - 10 days - fill your cargo holds - Depletes the resource by 20. this is in haste and makes MUCH waste.
[ ] Leave the system
- [ ] Follow the path in the Eldar diorama - estimated travel time 240 days.
- [ ] Return to Footfall

You could sell the system, or you could colonize it.

Salvage and Genesys 2
[X] Carefully salvage a sample from the cache
Ship stores: 153 Days remain

You and your crew carefully go through the archeotech cache of the station
finding working components, parts and fragments
after 20 days, you have picked out enough to part fill a cargo hold, worth 2 PF once sold at Port Wonder or Footfall.

[X] then Explore Genesys 2
Ship stores: 128 Days remain

This is a large icy world, with mostly snow covered rolling hills and vast oceans of liquid water.
There are some major resource deposits found.
as well as a small city of a minor xenos race that lived in the past.

    -[X] Genesys 2-1 & 2-2

The Moons of Genesys 2 are quickly and easily explored...

and found to be worthless.

they are stony asteroids captured by Genesys 2 when it formed.
perhaps you could use one to anchor a port to, but others - floating rocks in space.
