Nomination Rules
Hello, everyone!
Someone pointed out to me that GenCon runs from Thursday, August 1 to Sunday, August 4, during the nomination process, and that they'd appreciate it if the timeline was extended. Though I'm not sure that it will make a huge difference, I'm happy to do that. Instead of opening Thursday, August 1, nominations will open today, Monday, July 29, and will remain open until Thursday, August 8.
For those of you who are looking for more information on the Council and Council elections generally, you can find it in this thread.
In short, however - Councillors are your elected representatives. They advise the Staff on policy, participate in status meetings, provide oversight on reports, infractions, and appeals, and generally provide a second perspective on the direction and management of the forum.
Elections take place in two phases. The Nomination Phase allows any user to nominate other users to stand for election. During the Election phase, the 36 users who recieved the most nominations go on to a ballot, where users vote on those they'd like to see on the Council by approval voting.
Eligibility for Nomination
In order to be eligible for nomination, a user must:

How to Nominate Someone
You make your nominations by making a post in this thread. The rules are as follows:

If you fail to follow the rules, your post will be deleted and your nominations will not be counted. If you have any questions, please ask them in this thread or in the #Elections-Meta channel of the Council Elections Discord.

- Have more than 40 posts;
- Have their account for more than 120 days;
- Not have declined nomination;
- Not be a staff member, or have accepted a position on Staff;
- Not be permanently banned, either from the forum as a whole or from any subforum;
- Not have been permanently barred from seeking election.

- You may nominate up to five people.
- You may edit your post up to the closing date, when the nominations will be counted (Thursday, August 8)
- Your post must contain only the usernames of the users you wish to nominate, in the format described below, and nothing else:
