You made a convincing argument. And I'm game for anything that makes gorgon stare more effective.

-[x] Hinata meditates on her experiences in the Forest of Death to develop one of the abilities. Though they are not accessible now in a combat-ready capacity, they will be treated as present during a suitably dramatic moment. Each charm counts as an action.

[x] The Gentle Fist
-[x] Moving Meditation: The Empty Room/The Empty Castle/The Empty Country (Greatly enhances the user's ability to respond to attacks. Normally, this technique tree is the prerequisite to the Kaiten)

-??? Gatekeeper (3 pts) = Hinata can sense entrances to some other place.

Horror Path. Bonus to the 'Golden Gardener' Storyline.

So... This thing is likely either something from Gaia's Pangaea jouten, something from Metagaos, or a creation of a Great Curse-maddened Exalt. The first would allow Hinata to sense portals to Pangaea; the second, portals to Metagaos.

On the issue of apropriateness of earned loot mutations. The one that bothers me is :
-Longevity (5 pts), Immortality (5 pts) = The Golden Chakra Orchid cannot die of old age.
The plant, by Hinata's words, is actually dieing of old age right there in the quest...

Since I had to type up the mutations list by hand instead of conveniently copy pasting, the mutations list might be lacking some mutations, but it definitely does not have any extras.

A member of the Kurama clan of illusionists perhaps?

Yes. I haven't seen the anime, so you can consider any members OCs for the most part.

I had an interesting thought. I have to wonder how lethal Lunar Essence Jyuuken is compared to just using regular chakra. We know Essence... acts/is(?) much... more I guess? Like does Lunar Essence hunt after it's been shunted into another Chakra network. Like... you could expect Abyssal Essence to rot, or Green Sun Prince essence to burn and irradiate (at least if the person has some Liger charms).

Like, Jyuuken normally stirkes one chakra node and propagates thanks to the practitioner striking multiple more chakra nodes in their target. But Hinata only struck one, but it seemed the essence propagated on it's own once inside and just tore the damn thing to shreds. Like we were doing aggrevated damage to it (which would be the case if it's classified as an outsider I would think, but that implies doing it to normal people would probably qualify as Lethal instead of the Bashing-if-disabling unless a Critical Area is hit that Jyuuken seems to normally deliver).

So, considering that we haven't exploded into a tangle of flowery terribleness, could you bother explaining the seed-root-touchy business? What happened to the seeds anyhow? Were they removed? Did we eat them with our fancy lunar energy? Are they why we got the giant flower form, or did we actually manage to strike the killing blow at the end there?

And you can't have a team retreat if a member of the team is missing.
.

I get that reasoning. But it still feels like an assumption, and while it makes sense, it could be wrong. This might be the only time for a retreat for the rest of them. They would of course prefer Hinata came along, but might do the retreat anyway. And while Shino was on the mission with us just now, I feel like there hasn't been a lot of team activity lately.

That's not how Jyuuken is described to work.
In the description, a Hyuuga uses their chakra to attack the chakra coils, and this causes the coils to damage organs they are passing through.
Attacking tenketsu, or chakra nodes, is a more advanced technique as, even for a Hyuuga, seeing them is at least a little difficult.

Remember, Hinata was surprised Neji was able to see the ones in her arm during their fight, and was able to block her chakra flow, even though they were in a Jyuuken fight.

Man the vote is an utter mess now that a plan vote got injected into a task vote...

Nope.
She says it's dying, not that it's dying of old age.
Could be poison, could be disease, could be fire, could even be madness.
Could just be that its been fertilized. Flowers do that a lot. When fruiting they use up all their resources making and spreading the seeds.

I'm letting some plot hooks dangle so I can pick them up later: the seed is definitely one of them.

There'll be some flexibility in how it's addressed. Default at the moment is that if you don't accept Kurenai's offer, they'll show up during some other action to check in on you. This is the advantage of having sociable friends, you can rely on them to not ignore you even if you ignore them. Of course, you can't abuse this: there's only so much ignoring that'll happen before they'll decide you don't like them, but looking mummified is a pretty great excuse.

The difference is the focus of the social link. Going to the retreat strengthens Hinata's bonds with her teammates, going to the party strengthens her bonds with Naruto, and yes, might introduce her to other people.

If you have zero actions where there's an opportunity for them to intervene (no one's interrupting family matters, for e.g.), it'll default to one of your training actions.

I'm honestly not certain if they'll show up or not if Naruto's party option is picked: the retreat is more structured than the option suggests, but the main limiting factor is me wanting to keep the next update fairly limber. Too many people and the scene'll start to dominate the next update and then it'll be another month between updates.

By the way, people, the The Death of the Golden Chakra Orchid and The Origin of the Golden Chakra Orchid are not the same thing! It's a mistake I made and just corrected.
This is for the people who don't want to go the Horror path by mistake.

Can some one remind me how the mutations work for the forms again? Are they permanent, or only when she's transformed? Can the negatives be bought off, or not taken?

Because I really, really don't like those attack and control mutations.

Normally it's only a full transformation and you get the mutations with the form period. Hybrid Nue, that I got us early on, let's us cherry pick the mutations we want to use, but it costs us motes to do so as well. *Shrug*

I mean, it costs motes to transform anyway. It's just it costs more motes if you're only looking for good mutations.
