The leaves leisurely descended, each bearing their unique Fall attire. One flutters and lands on your feet, and you pick it up. It's a bright red, almost pink, like it was trying to be a Sakura petal and just failed. Still, it's memorable. And it serves as a prop for a useful life lesson.
You stand by the gate, looking on at the school. A massive clock stands above the gate. It reads 5 minutes to 8. You close your eyes and start counting.
"5, 4. Here they come." You step to the side, just as the sound of a stampede comes around the corner.
"I'm late, I'm late!" A small herd of students in school uniform shout in unison, each with a piece of toast in their mouth. The stampede rushes past you, barely bothering a hair on your brow, but you sweep it aside anyway.
"3, 2, 1, here they fall." You say as you adjust your bag. Suddenly there are several crashes in front of you.
Several variations of, "Hey watch where you're going, Baka!" come from the ground, but you ignore the sprawled pairs of meet cutes. Nothing will keep you from your destination. You pass the words on the top of the door, bearing the name and motto of this school.
Anime Academy.
Be the Protagonist you want to see in the world.
You switch your shoes at the school locker, glad that you had missed the early morning Love Letter rush, where the entrance is flooded by all the love letters pouring out of the current Waifu of the week's locker at once. Still, you needed to pick up the pace. There was only a certain acceptable amount of tardiness you could get away with on your first day.
You headed to your assigned home room (2-A, naturally) and kept your head down as two groups of delinquent surrounded a nerdy kid (the glasses helpfully identified him) arguing with each other.
"Get out of here. We're gonna stuff him in a locker Quabara."
"No, we're gonna put his head in the toilet. You can shove off Ryoji."
"You want him, you're gonna have to fight for him cone hair!" the delinquents all took out baseball clubs, while the nerd almost started bawling.
Is that what being popular is like? You wondered, before entering your class from the front.
It was like being thrown into a rainbow headfirst. Almost every shade of colour was present in the hair of your classmates, with increasingly absurd styles. You couldn't see a single natural hair colour in the class.
Well, you put your hand through your black hair. Besides me. But whose looking at me?
"Alright our last student has arrived." The teacher noted. "Since you're already up, why not give us an introduction."
Almost in unison, every eye in class turned to look at you. Why do I ask myself stupid questions? Still this was a great way to make a memorable impression. Your hand squeezed the fall leaf in your pocket.
"My name is…"
[] Write-in
"Hello there." The teacher nodded at you. "However, since it's the start of a new year, I'd like to hear a little about you. Likes, dislikes, goals...?"
Goals? Oh you had that. You had to have it to attend this school. Anime Academy. Where you will be trained in how to be the best anime character you could be, to teach you all the tropes and skills you needed to survive in whatever setting a production company might send you into.
Of course, you wanted to do more than just end up in an anime. That would be easy. Basically getting in this school guaranteed it. But you wanted more. You weren't just going to be a supporting character. You weren't even going to be just a protagonist. No. You're gonna go for the ultimate prize an anime character can achieve.
You may not be remarkable now. You might just blend into the background in most shots. You might not know what you need to succeed, or your niche.
But just like the tree leaf, we all start green. No one remembers where you started. The only thing that sticks, is what you've made yourself at the end, when you fall off the branch.
"My goal is simple. I am…

OPness: 2
OPness is how easily your character can deal with problems, whether it's logical, physical or otherwise. The lower your stat, the more of a challenge it is to deal with problems on your own, while high stats makes your victory all but a formality. Most shows like to have somewhere in the middle, where there's always a challenge, but some shows like different extremes.
[]
. Honestly, people aren't sure how you get out of bed in the morning without a support team.
Attractiveness: 1
Attractiveness is how appealing your character model is, as well as how impressive or distinctive it is. The lower the stat, the more bland or unattractive you seem to others, while a really high stat means that you stay in people's mind-and on their merchandise *Cha-ching*! Most shows don't have the budget for a really high attractive character, but some shows love the distorted unattractive look for it's unique potential.
Uh…well, I mean, looks aren't everything right? Have you considered a career in Drama CDs?
Studious: 2
Studiousness is how much you like to learn about the world around you, absorbing and extrapolating the lore of the world around you. Yeah you might be seen as a nerd, but some settings benefit from a close examination, especially when there's so much detail in a world. However, too much Studious can lead to over exposition-or highlighting the cracks in a setting's logic that the creators would rather you weren't paying attention to.
Wow, you really don't want to know anything about the world, or the people, or the rules…ok then, sure, you can go right in there. Side note, you'd get on really well with my DnD group.
Self-Awareness: 2
Self-Awareness is mostly knowing your own place in the world, and your own capability to change. The higher self-awareness makes you aware of the established tropes for your role and your setting. However, too much self-awareness can make one cynical, as you may start breaking the 4th wall, while too little self-awareness can make you repeat tired clichés over and over, never developing. Some franchises value self-awareness, while other anime like their tropes and don't like you not giving into the story.
Wow, this must all be new to you. Look at you gazing at the world of anime with wide eyed wonder. I envy how you look at things like they're novel-although I pity you for when you're the only one surprised by the inevitable betrayal. Oops, spoiler.

"I hear you like...'ships'. And you like to...'ship people'. Together. You'll even get on...crack-ed ships. I hear you'll even 'go down with your ship'.
Well I don't know what you are talking about, or why those all had parenthesis around it, but it's good to have a marine minded person on board. I guess we can trust you to be in charge of nautical vessels. I'll be sure to let the anime people know of your special skill."

Potential for Magical Ability This Trait represents a suspicion that you might have untapped magical ability. Or it just could be gas. This is a Proto Trait-it can evolve into various different traits, depending on your actions. Social Links:
Jad Inoue-Level 1
Mrinthon Darkblade/Will Stubbs-Level 1
Achieved Fujoshi No Jutsu-You discovered Jad's secret interests by invading her privacy. She does not appreciate the irony of the situation. [Gain 1 Prestige Point]
Yet to be Achieved Club La Club-Defeat all other clubs until you are either the last club standing or have the most members by far. [Gain 2 Prestige Points]
All characters have the 4 stats, Opness, Attractiveness, Studious and Self-Awareness.
These traits go from a minimum of 1 to a maximum of 10.
You can increase your Stats by acting proficient in these stats, which will cause the stats to adjust. If you act like you are lacking in said stats, they can decrease.
Having maximum stats is not always a good thing, and having minimum stats is not always a bad thing.
Tutorial 2-Social Links
Social Links are representations on your report sheet that show how strong a bond you are forming with your classmates. They don't have to be positive-a strong bond could be with a rival or a nemesis, as long as you are passionate about them.
The benefits to increasing the level of your social link is a) unlocking special actions your classmate can perform for you, and b) gain traits they possess through exposure.
By spending time with, and forming bonds with people whose traits you'd like to acquire, you can gain those traits. So find out the traits you want and go for them.
Starting a Social Link can be easier or more difficult depending on the individual. Sometimes, they can be won over by a gift they really appreciate.
Other times, performing a task for them can help get over that initial barrier. Others will only initiate social links with you, if you share a social link with someone else, or possess a trait they consider valuable. And occasionally, it will be a certain phrase or action that can activate a social link. It varies person to person.
The most reliable way to find out how will be to spend time with them, but maybe there are faster ways out there? You'll need to discover those by yourself.
Tutorial 3- Traits
Traits are special qualities you have that go beyond stats. Having access to Traits allows you new options in almost all situations-including when in an anime.
However, the most valuable part of a Trait, is when applying to join an Anime. Different Anime will desire different traits in their protagonists. If you have the same stats as your fellow applicant, but you have a desired trait and they don't, you will almost certainly get the role instead of them.
However, some Anime don't like certain traits. If you possess a trait they don't want their protagonist to have, then even if you have all the right stats, you're less likely to get the role than someone with the same stats but without the trait.
Of course, an undesirable trait for one anime might be a very desirable trait in another. And having one desirable trait usually outweighs having one undesirable trait.
As a Tori Tip, try and get as many traits as you can-you never know which Trait might be the deciding factor."
