Basically my thinking is that passing the info is important, but this mission is also time sensitive and WE CAN NOT AFFORD AN OUTBREAK AT THE CHUNNIN EXAMS!
 
So, lets refer to the original orders given to the team by Danzo (important quotes in bold font):

So the TL,DR version of the original orders was to eliminate the golden orchid before any of the other villages' representatives notice. This is a time sensitive seek and destroy mission, and the team has wasted lots of time already waiting for reinforcements.

So question 1: Is the team mission capable? Yes, it is. Shino is down an arm and some of his bugs, but that can be worked around. The team would have to deploy assets to protect him, but he is not a liability and can support the front line from a distance.

Question 2: Can we fulfill the team's duities to perform a mission update? Yes. We have Naruto.

Question 3: Is the team capable of destroying the main plant? I think so. Naruto should have explosive tags on him. If he already used them though, the team probably doesn't have the firepower to bring down the plant.

Question 4: Is the team capable of getting through the golden orchid's bodyguards? Perhaps, with a little subterfuge and distraction.

Question 5: Are we playing in a shounen manga world? Is this Exalted? Yes. Rule of Cool then:

The other clones subsequently throw another set of kunai, one of the kunai with another explosive tag. KABOOM! With a cry of anger, most of the animal/plant hybrids give chase to the Naruto clones, who are running off away from the real group, leaving only a skeletal force of guards for the golden orchid.

I think that is enough to get through the next update. My personal plan for the final boss is to have Shino and some Naruto clones hold the rear while Hinata and the real Naruto assault the boss. The real Naruto and Hinata would be the distractions, while the clones get into position to encircle the plant. The main emphasis would be to always have the ability to disengage with Hinata guarding Naruto and Shino and a few clones outside keeping watch and making sure our escape isn't cut off. Killing blow will likely be from a bunch of Naruto clones letting loose a bunch of explosive tags on the boss at once. Also, I'm not familiar with Exalted powers at all. If anyone has improvements, go ahead and write them in.

I don't think explosives like that copy; that's what they have Bunshin Daibakuha for.

By RAW you can pull a blow, so that it's not lethal.

inflict bashing damage instead. With the aid of a stunt or magic,

pommel strikes). Arrows cannot be pulled, though most bows
can fire blunt-tipped fowling arrows that inflict bashing damage.
Directing a coup de grace to inflict maiming is also a form of
pulling a blow (see p. 152)

The obvious thing is to request that a Toad report to Jiraiya and Sarutobi in that order; we need an S-classer on site.
If nothing else, the Toad might have trouble finding the monkey; it'll have no problem finding Jiraiya, since he is a fellow summoner.
And time might be of the essence.

If something is going on in the village, enough to pull the Hyuuga off the Forest of Death, we need to keep the pressure on the Gold Orchid.
While we're here, we distract the warriors that will be otherwise trying to leave the forest to carry the disease into the civilian population, and keep them focused around the tower.

The fact that we've seen nothing so far is....ungood. If a certain someone kicked off the invasion early, I'm going to be a little annoyed.

There are two ways to play RPGs. Treating the rules as completely ironclad, or recognizing that in certain specific situations that's not how things go. Sometimes it's something the GM wants to do, sometimes its an action that makes sense for the players, but the rules don't quite cover it. In those situations it's the GM's job to make whatever it is fit the narrative, and call for checks that seem right.

Exalted is a game designed around "beyond the impossible" and cool flashy things. So, I would expect the DM to let the players do something like an epic stare down. In relative terms that's pretty light.
 
I just want to Saya no Uta best ending/hanahaki aesthetic. That's all I want to gain from this =v
