Keyblader Apprentice Quest (Kingdom Hearts: Birth By Sleep)

Changed my vote to Toontown. Because a high resist to the primary element of the bad guys sounds like it would be awesome. With Shade, we run the risk of them resisting our attacks

Yikes. Shade is really looking like a mistake now.

Actually, why have so many people voted for it anyway?
Cause being contrary.

Proving Dark does not = Evil in a setting that has by all rights shown that it really kind of does end up that way 9 times out of 10.

Because they want to be Edgy.

Because Xehanort. (And also not thinking about his interest in us from it)

... No, I don't care if templates are forbidden.

Because knee jerk DARK IS NOT EVVVIIIIL WE'RE JUST MISUNDERSTOOD and most of the initial voters never return anyway. It's a proven fact that after making the first vote, participants just leave. Also to those who left music-

You traitors I wanted to trust you QAQ

Because who does't want to be a young lad, learning how to change the world through song, under the tutelage of a grand old wizard, with Micky fucking Mouse as the one you look up to?

It can't have a chance if no one is voting for it!

Tbh, I dislike how the options are completely unexplained in the opening post. The fact that we are only now getting information vital to making an informed choice rankles. If people knew how their choice worked it's likely that they would have at least considered another option instead of flyby voting. It's rather bad quest design.

But I also don't think there'd be much of a point in trying to amend that now. For example, if the gm wrote up a post explaining all the options like he has throughout the thread, and asked for a revote; people would just get angry.

It sucks but eeeee

Wait, seriously!? That makes it sound like they just popped into to make a vote that would screw this quest over from the very start. Because to me; Shade sounds like the trap option

Well even if it's basically impossible to win now

Eh sure it's unlikely to turn the tides now, but what the hell being the cute little boy with wonder and magic in his heart who then sees everything burn down in a horrible fire with his sort of rivals, and all the worlds slowly get conquered and eaten by horrible man eating buggers sounds nice.

It is somewhat true that the number of voters tends to decrease by a large amount following the first vote. Truth be told, I occasionally leave if a combination of choices I find enjoyable don't win

It can't have a chance if no one is voting for it!
Certainly, but it lacks any sort of momentum whatsoever that makes me think anyone would begin voting for it so late in the process.

Yes, in hindsight I shouldn't have written that first post while I was suffering from a bout of....sadness.

That said a the combination of votes has almost as much of an impact as the element itself, a Shadow user under Eraqus is going to be repressing their powers far more than one under Yen Side and that will in turn make them less flexible on the offense but better able to deal with damage of a similar type such as well other Shadows and Darkness itself....and at this point if I try to list what can happen from every possible combination I'll end up driving myself nuts.

Doing less damage directly to the likes of the Heartless does not mean that you'll instantly loose to them if you fight, and you can overcome that handicap of you really work at it, on top of learning other types of magic.

Also keep in the mind that the Heartless themselves are relatively rare at this point so this isn't nearly as much of a problem it would be if you where starting in say...cannon kingdom hearts.

I never said it was the Heartless I was worried about. My concern is being handicapped against old Nort. The old dude is tough, and we need every advantage we can get in a fight with him. Ideally, that would mean Toontown for dark resist. However, Song looks like our best bet at beating Shade (even if it's a long shot).

***edit
I haven't been on SV long, so could someone tell me if it's considered bad manners to PM people and ask switch off of Shade by telling them about the handicap it comes with?

Darn it...I really don't want to spoil things for you but beyond your initial element a lot of your affinity for other skills is determined by how you act/developed you in character personality.

It's entirely possible to play a Shade characters whose second specialty is light magic for instance, provided you guys don't actually act like an edgelord and do your best to learn it.

That...actually makes me feel a lot better. Like, I'm no longer dreading Shade winning. I mean, I still don't want it to win, but it's no longer a deal breaker.

Sorry to bother all of you, but there's something you need to see;
Shade does indeed do less damage to darkness based creatures then normal, so you may want to invest in mastering spell from a second element if you truly want to go that route.
So if Shade wins (which it will at this rate) we'll have a pretty large disadvantage against people Like Xehanort. I'd personally rather not handicap ourselves in that way against a Final Boss character (or anyone else who uses Darkness). So I'm asking all of your to change your votes.

Again, sorry if this bugs you, but I had to at least try.

@Card Captor For future reference, only do that with the permission of the QM. Mods have been known to punish mass-tagging, so you'll want to ensure you had secured permission beforehand.

Changing vote, less "shadow reveal" more to want more music.

I keep trying to find battle clips from Symphogear but youtube is being so dickish rn. But then I remembered that there is an actual Songstress job in Final Fantasy games!

Sure, I'll change votes.
However I do wonder if Shade would enjoy some resistance from Darkness attacks in return for their own attacks being reduced in effectiveness. Seems like something that might work both ways but either way a darkness boss would probably still hold the edge.
