134 - Trial of the dragon! 2
[X] Your master knows things

-----------------------------

After a day where she glared at you more than usual, you still have no idea what to do, so you make your way back home quickly. Surely, your master will know what to do; she always does.

You shortly arrive at your destination and push the wooden door in vain before unlocking it. Apparently, you're the first here. Maybe you should have simply gotten your Master in class, but the living room has become the place where you ask her question and so you unconsciously made your way back here without thinking.

You put your bag on the ground and drink a glass of water before falling down on the sofa, letting out a long sigh.

"Ah… what should I do? I don't even know what's going on… Is she hating me because she's some sort of dragon lover or something?" you think aloud, not expecting an answer.

"You should kill her. Then she'd stop hating."

"Mh… you have a poi- no!" you start before exclaiming. "And it's not like I could anymore… I seem to have lost my edge, as they say."

You're not sure whether or not you should be happy about that, but you've thought a lot since Kyoto and you aren't sure that it was just the circumstances that stopped you from killing Tsukuyomi; you had no qualms exploding the Sentient, but you even hesitated while the Stalker had his back exposed. The Stalker! Sure, you could argue that it was just prioritising the older enemy, but you don't really believe it.

"Boo, you're no fun. Just try, cut a few limbs and you'll get your groove back."

However, you now realise, the more immediate problem is the fact that you apparently hallucinate voices that tell you to kill people. You're no expert, but you're pretty sure that it's a bad sign.

You'll just… focus on happy thoughts until your Master arrives, then you'll talk to her about that as well. You sit cross legged for a while while remembering the time you spent with Hakase until you hear the door opening and the voices of Chachamaru and your Master.

A minute later, she sits down next to you.

"So, what is it this time?" she asks in her usual tone. "Don't beat around the bush, we both know you only sit on the sofa when you have a problem."

Well, it's true, you usually take the armchair, but she doesn't have to say it like that! At least you don't have to think of a way of bringing up the topic.

"Asuna likes me even less than usual," you start before remembering. "Ah, and I hear voices that tell me to kill people, but it just happened when I got home earlier."

Your Master had started a sigh before you added that, at which point her eyes narrowed and looked at a doll that was sitting on one of the cushions. It was a small wooden doll in maid like clothes, her blond hair cut somewhat like Chachamaru's. The only notable thing about it was the huge knife in her right hand.

"Zero! What did I tell you!?" she snaps.

You wonder what she's doing until the doll's head turn slightly in a few jerky notions and her wooden mouth pulls up and down as it lets out a sinister laugh.

"I was just helping my cute junior with her problems. What's wrong if I have some fun at the same time?" it says, in the voice you heard before. "And it's not like I gave bad advice. She really should kill her."

Evangeline hesitates for an instant before nodding and, with a sigh, stands up, grabs the doll by the collar and throws it in a cupboard before closing it.

"There. One problem at a time." She gets back next to you. "So, what was it about Asuna and stupid highschool drama?"

You bristle a bit at her comment about "highschool drama" but don't comment on it. It's not your fault that this is so much harder for you than, say, war. Still, she's willing to hear you out so she probably knows that.

"She's angry with me! I mean, more than usual. Most of the time, it's just some irrational resentment about my perfectly justified training - and it's not like it's even me who's doing it anymore these days - with the child, but now she's glaring and all!" you explain.

Speaking of which, you wonder how Sayoko's training is going, but that's for another time.

"Very well, then. When did she start acting differently, and also do you actually care about what she's thinking?"

At that, you hear a reproachful "Master!" coming from Chachamaru but Evangeline ignores her.

"It's been… a few days? Maybe after the child asked me about how I'd kill a dragon, and..." You think for a moment. "I think I care, at least a bit. There's no one I really don't get along in class and I'd like it to stay that way, or at least know why it changed."

She nods.

"There you have it. She must be angry because you being here enabled the boy to go hurt himself or some stupid thing like that. She'll calm down after a while when she sees he isn't dead or he's healed," she concludes with a dismissive wave of the hand, before she stops suddenly. "Wait, did he say a dragon!? He's a hundred year too early for that! At the very least! What is he thinking!? What did you tell him?"

And now your Master looks at you with scary eyes. If you knew dragons were such a touchy subject, you would have left when he asked you…

"Uh… to make it explode?" you answer hesitantly. "I mean, it's not like I actually faced one, but nothing likes exploding, right?"

"Ok, I… think I might need to go look a few things over," she says as she gets up. "I answered your question anyway, right?"

Unsure, you nod, but she's already gone, muttering under her breath.

"So… what would you like to eat tonight, Nova? It seems like Master will be gone for a while."

Chachamaru's voice brings you back to reality and you start talking with her, her presence soothing your mind.

At the end of the evening, as you go to bed, you've arrived to a decision.

----------------------

[] Master's right. Just wait and do nothing.
- [] binge watch something with ice cream and Hakase until the problem goes away.
[] Maybe stopping the child from whatever he's planning to do would calm Asuna down?
[] Just find and kill that dragon yourself and there'll be no more problem. You're so smart, you must be a genius.
[] Go to Asuna and explain it's not your fault if he's got stupid ideas, you just answered a question, geeze.
[] Write-in

Empyrical evidence suggests that questers in a Negima setting just want to kill dragons*. Have fun.

*yes, I'm joking about terrible, terrible things.

She is mad because we gave him advice that is leading him to fight something he is a 'hundred years to early' to face. If we kill it, then not only is the dragon dead, the child will not be able to get hurt facing it AND we get the loot! Everyone wins! Except the dragon. It just gets killed.

"Ah, and I hear voices that tell me to kill people, but it just happened when I got home earlier."
It's fine as long as you feel they truly understand you. But you should probably keep it a secret if it lasts more than 4 hours.

I want to say there is a good reason why we shouldn't go down there and bath the dragon in antimatter...
But This is as good as a time as any to see if we can farm Chroma.

(x) Maybe do some research into dragons?
I'm not sure Broom stick prime is enough for it.

It may not totally dissuade him, but more people may equal more boom which should equal dead dragon and thus sweet loot?

I love how the votes perfectly describe the playerbase right now. Half murder and half waifu.

EDIT: And of course someone voted otherwise while I was writing that. Saddies.

Not necessarily. My vote could be seen as both. Taking down monstrosities of magic/technology is a wonderful bonding exercise.

Welp, terrible, terrible damage alright yeah. What a loss of such greatness ruined by the endless war between two sides of the quest base.

Tragedy that forever shadows over killing dragons in Negima.

We asked for her advice, might as well follow it yeah?

... although a tag-team up with Negi to kill a dragon does sound fun. But I don't think Hakase would enjoy science exploded dragon bits, she seems far more metal-gears mad science than Bio-mad science ya know?

Second chance to be his teacher? Maybe we can talk elements with him and get him to cast 100% proc Corrosive, Radiation, and Blast doom lasers.
