i think you (and possibly several other people) are misunderstanding what Unreleased means, Unreleased is the zanpaktou in smol sword mode.

Released is what it is in canon where its the big ass cloth covered butcher knife all the time

But no keeping it released doesn't really have any effect at all on Ichigo's control, it just likes not being forced into a sealed form.

Sort of like how Pikachu in pokemon doesn't like being in pokeballs and just wants to be out all the time looking at stuff, just replacing Pokeballs with swords.

Didn't Yachiro say something about prideful swords. Also, the wording seems to imply that Zangetsu wants to be released. Having him out may also help with mastering our Shikai faster.

Someone with credibilty already told us Zangetsu is a proud sword so, this is the one I choose.

I don't really feel like we should bother trying to be sneaky. We have a small timetable, one we've never been shy about.

We've basically been telling anyone who'll listen that we'll blitz through the academy and got a job going to the world of the living in a year or less, it doesn't make much sense to me to keep actual progress on that path hidden.

Ichigo isn't nearly sneaky enough to actually pull that shit off, considering that Aizen is in play. Not to mention, it's going to come out sooner or later, and it's not totally game-changing like a Bankai would be. Significant and impressive? Yes. A powerful secret that must be kept hidden lest he lose the element of surprise/invite terrible shit onto himself? Not really.

I say fuck it.

Sides, it'd make sword bro happy. He's already a cranky bastard, no need to make him shittier.

While walking around with our engorged sword in public might seem indecent, in reality goods like this were meant to be shown off.
 
I like how everyone thinks that keeping him released all the time will make him happy.
After all why would he want a bunch of little shits seeing him?
