Gogogo cyberpunk! Shadowrun?

Edit: A world ruled by corporations. Nanomachines and biotech. Cyborgs and and corporate knights. And ninjas. Cyborg ninjas.

Yes! I really want this!
As something of a transhumanist, I am aware that human nature is very much flawed. We can spend a LOT of time and effort to remove those flaws (and add strengths), or just skip those steps and make our children without any of them (AIs). This concept is something that I so very rarely see in fiction.

I really want a write in for our goverment. None of our options go well with the above I believe.

[X] Write In - Whatever our children find works best.
Not sure if this write in will be accepted, but describing an AI run goverment is a bit beyond me. It would be nothing like anything we have now. Maybe purpose build minds for their position?

What about a human/AI combo? Uploads that can have as many bodies as they wish, be it carbon or silicon.

? I have nothing against that. Its certainly better that what humanity has now.
I was giving out an idea. Sorry for the misunderstanding.

Edit: Though if it is hand in hand, won't the humans wish for the sweet succor of immortality all the same? All paths point to uploaded transcendence. All good paths, I imagine. Or any other form of transcendence that involves the surpassing of humanity.

It would be interesting to see how our faith plays into our SIs and it promises interesting things for our psionics too.

Moreover, I love the feel of manifest destiny such a combo engenders, the idea that faith and fate brought us here and it's time to make it count.

Two people made as one united in a common cause, a Covenant to forge a paradise together after the travails of the past.

I for one, don't like it. For it feels like a stifling of the creativity and freedom of mankind. Freedom to fall. Freedom to ascend beyond. Rather than a worshipping humanity, what about a squabbling, quarrelsome, and argumentative humanity?

>Religion preventing all squabbling and stifling arguments

Yeah, pull the other one, it's got bells on.

I said common cause and as a unifying force- if you think that it will somehow make humanity totally homogenous that's on you.

It is in the nature of humanity to fragment. For we are as a growing forest. A sentient, sapient forest, and our seed inevitably passes down the currents of the river and the winds of a breeze. Victory shall be where and when humanity surpasses itself, becoming as the gods they first envisioned on Earth.

In the world of their evolution they imagined. Now they argue and squabble and unify and fragment, as they seek to grasp the light that they so seek.

Religion. A constant companion of humanity. Worship. An action that we all commit, whether worshiping gods and myths, trees and rocks, or dreams and ideals. Transcendence. The states that we seek beyond our terrifyingly limited selves, whatever they may be imagined as.

The gestalt of mankind grows from hereon out, in this quest. Let it evolve to see of paths sought for and paths unasked for.

Inevitably we will see our works slip beyond our grasps.

So why does one religion have to lord over humanity? Why not simply let the water flow its course?

I prefer Ideocracy to Theocracy. In my mind at least all religion includes Dogma, and Dogma is an enemy of Reason. A state governed by an idea, a philosophy on the other hand, can be remarkably similiar and yet much better.
