I think my issue with Paragon, is that- it feels a bit, handwavy almost. Human society has transcended most of its shortcomings and is fairly idealistic- that's cool, but part of what makes that so grand is the process it takes to achieve that. The ordeal by which we choose to be better people- now, we're almost certainly going to get a chance to explore that in the next vote- but I'd rather set forward on that path ourselves than in a meta sense have that end result handed to us.

So Paragon is literally handwaving that. Though, it's not like you won't have the ability to try to achieve that using any other background. In fact, I'd even go as far as to say that picking any other background (except maybe uplifted) would be a better way to get dig into the story of how humanity achieves total, harmonic unity of spirit.
 
Is it necessary for such a long vote creator seems to be the favorite here. By almost double the next vote.
