Winter is Coming: House Stark Quest

You know what.

Fuck this.

If Stannis wants our army he's going to have to pay with far more than just a bride. We should ask for the fucking moon here. Exclusive purchasing of Northern Lumber for ship development for like the next 100 years, plus an investment to make that sustainable. Reducing the price of purchasing food maybe.

And I'm tempted to force him to make Ned Hand of the King again.

Everyone shits on the North. All the time. But we do have the power to win this war for him, and he'd damn sure give us what we deserve here.
Pretty sure we can pull all that off as his heir and even more as King. Don't forget to add annexing the Iron Islands to the North.

To get rid of the Ironborn and make the West save for our future navy. The Ironborn are a general hinderance and will periodically burn down our West coast if we let them be.

Its just as easy to wipe out their navy, burn every ship, then burn every tree down, and never have to think about those useless assholes again as they starve on their useless pile of rocks and lick the salt off their stupid throne.

Neat!

[X] Sansa will remain unattached. Lord Arryn will have to find a bride elsewhere.
[X] Yes.

[X] Not yes, but not no either. Our beloved sister has been through a lot of bullshit these past few months, and packing her off to the Vale straight away seems... unkind. If Lord Harry (and his puppeteers, but let's not say that in the reply letter) would but give her some time to adjust after leaving the Lannister/Waters court, perhaps a more formal introduction of the two...?

[X] We will support King Stannis. It is after all the right thing to do. We will defer the question of betrothal until after we've sorted out Renly. With the caveat that, should the war go against us, Princess Shireen will be welcome and safe in Winterfell at any point.

The Vale was wrapped up with such a nice fucking bow that a marriage to Harry would be a big fat cherry on top...buuuut I'm still pulling for a Willas Tyrell match if and when we put down Renly. I don't think Harry would be a terrible husband, but the dude can't keep it in his pants and I don't think Sansa would deal with Unlimited Bastard Works very well.

As for King-consort, fuck it, why not? Ned will have time to train up Bran/Rickon to be Lord of Winterfell while Robb runs shit down south and help the Mannis get ready for the inevitable Dany/Faegon invasion. Shireen's not my favorite match for Robb but I think he's ambitious enough to go for the chance to sit next to the Iron Throne over choosing a superior waifu.

Edit: Vote change!

Harrold Hardying is a known player when it comes to women. And Shireen is a really sub-par match for Robb.
Just because you have sex with many women before marriage doesn't mean you will after.
[] Sansa will marry Lord Harrold Arryn and become Lady of the Vale, renewing ties to the North and Riverlands.
[] Sansa will remain unattached. Lord Arryn will have to find a bride elsewhere.
[] Write-In.
I don't want to say anything definitive here. Sansa deserves some say and time to get to know her possible future husband considering how the last betrothal ended.
[] Yes.
[] No.

Damnit Charcolt, why did you have to send Davos to negotiate? I got a complete soft-spot for the guy. I don't know if the offer to marry Shireen is actually an incentive or not because I have absolutely no desire for this to be a quest where we're running the Seven Kingdoms. I know it's probably too late for that but like Robb, I hope for some sort of power vacuum that'll allow us to proclaim the Kingdom in the North, possibly with the Vale and the Riverlands attached to it.

Eh that works as well but I was being more humanitarian about it plus I want their ship builders and give second and third sons lordships. I'm saying to completely remove all their nobility and replace them with Northern ones.

[X] Yes.

The Vale is closer to us than the Reach, and we have a sure thing here in terms of getting our sister married to a Lord Paramount. Better to do that than gamble on a maybe. And if we're going to fight for Stannis, might as well get a throne out of it.

Hey, @Charcolt Do we know the current strength of Stannis' and Renly's armies compared with our own? If Renly's force is larger than Stannis' and ours combined, I'm not sure getting ourselves involved will be worth the risk. We still have F/Aegon's and Dany's invasions to deal with, not to mention threats from the wildlings and Ironborn. Getting involved in a situation that could potentially resolve itself without intervention would waste resources we might need later.

@Charcolt, is the Vale on our side, regardless, or do we need the betrothal to tie them to us permanently?

This is a pretty big vote guys. You don't have to vote immediately after @Charcolt post an update with little to no discussion.
And if we're going to fight for Stannis, might as well get a throne out of it.
We don't have to. That's the point of the vote. Do we actually want to be the potential future king of the Seven Kingdoms? Do we want to take the risk that getting this involved carries? Right now, Renly would be extremely forgiving about our lukewarm support for Stannis but that'll not be the case if we actually get properly involved in the fighting.

Harry the Heir? Great. Best possible match for Sansa, and I doubt she'll complain much about getting the closest possible thing to a white knight.

The Shireen betrothal? No. Hell no. We don't know how the Stannis/Renly thing is going to play out. Melisandre's not here (confirmed by GM), and without her I doubt Stannis has a snowball's chance in hell against Renly. And we do not need to be hitching our horse to a wagon that's about to spontaneously combust.

Any ruling of the Seven Kingdoms is epilogue stuff anyway!

Both sides have all the men they currently did at this point in canon, though Stannis theoretically has you and all of yours as well. The Vale is on your side either way, but the marriage probably will determine if they are on your side or simply against the side Petyr Baelish was shilling.
