As far as you know, those don't exist. Off the top of your head, you know about water, fire, dirt, stone, wood, metal, air, light, and maybe shadow. You're pretty sure there are others, too, but none made out of such concepts.
Well the elemental planes of such elements exist in many realities. So logically there would also be elementals.

Have we ever tried anything with high quality gold, silver, platinum, or diamonds?

You're pretty sure the first three would fall under "metal" and don't know what sort of elemental would use gemstones to make their bodies. Silver is the only material on that list you've had access to, and not in quantities you'd be comfortable using it for an elemental's body.

...I have no idea what you're trying to say here.

OOC: so... no periodic elementals? I specifically mentioned Diamond as it is pure carbon.

Some commentary:
Melia is surprisingly well-educated considering she's supposed rural medieval. Knowing about how to resist illusions, types of rituals diplomats use?

I think the Favres think we were kidnapped? Maybe?

Wonder if we can deliberately break the anchor to escape in an emergency? @Alivaril does Melia have an opinion on that idea?

Language talent is perhaps even more valuable than Jade's could have been in Ignition given more primitive societies. One presumes even the diplomatic language spells need a baseline or to be customized for each language.

Anyway, on the vote, I think we're best off throwing in with Ines and Eugene for now, they seem friendly enough at first glance and even if they're up to something shady or turn on us later the anchor's characteristics prevent it from being a permanent decision. I'd like to trust them with some specifics of our situation so they can help us better.

Supplies is important, but figuring out what's up with our weird ability is also just as important, and for that we'll need another mage.

[x] Agree to go with Ines and Eugene.
-[x] You don't mind exploring or treasure hunting though. It's not like delays will make you more lost.

[x] Ask more questions.
-[x] They mentioned a guild? You're assuming it's for mages; what sort of things do they do?
--[x] You're pretty sure you got here in a magical accident of a sort. Your best bet for figuring out what happened would be another mage.
-[x] Have they ever heard of Alistore before?
-[x] Just ask whatever comes to mind without worrying about secrecy or concealment, except keep dimensional travel and anchoring a secret.
-[x] Try to take pointers on wilderness survival / preparations or procedures for trips like this as you travel. Also exploration if you get up to any.

Wonder if we can deliberately break the anchor to escape in an emergency? @Alivaril does Melia have an opinion on that idea?

Provided you can find a way to safely do so, you feel like it should be possible. At least part of it travels outside your body; you think that bit should be the easiest and safest part to break based on its location.

Melia is surprisingly well-educated considering she's supposed rural medieval. Knowing about how to resist illusions, types of rituals diplomats use?

She knows a wide range of trivia from asking questions, but doesn't know nearly as much about the related details. For example, she knows there's a school of healing geared toward helping the victims of mana overexposure, but she doesn't know what overexposure does to them in the first place. By extension, she doesn't know how said school is supposed to help them.

There are a number of such rhymes taught to children in rural areas; the harder it is for a monster to use certain effects on them, the better.

Ooooooh coolio.

So just to kinda summarize what I just read and my general reactions/theories:

Question Girl Melia is Awesome.
Ask ALLLLL The Things!

We have lots of friends YAY!

We are "loose" in the Multiverse.
{Theory 1: I think there was some extra time we didn't notice which occurred during our first transit, and during this "missing time" our anchor was installed?} <- Rampant speculation
{Theory 2: Or the transit itself just created the anchor out of nothing because the Multiverse doesn't like free floating sapients } <- More rampant speculation

Anchor deteriorates without shielding mana.
Anchor gives info. Sometimes.
We are at 1/4 of our mana left.
We have five days default with no mana.
{Musings: I wonder how it interacts with our mana level. Does it mean that after the 5 days are up we have to constantly have more than X amount of mana or we get pulled into another dimension? That's for later. Food/Questions first.}

It seems summoning our friends from another universe takes extra mana.
Meeting a elemental in our current universe and giving them a body should be easier if the reason for the extra cost was due to inter-universal travel.
Eugene and Ines are funny as heck.
{Theory 3: Due to their emphasis on our "guardian" I think the age of majority is higher than average in this dimension. Or our picture is influencing things and we look younger than we are. I don't think we do.} <- Slightly less rampant speculation
{Theory 4: They think we are on the run.} <- Feasible speculation
{Theory 5: Due to their reaction to us being a mage, I... don't quite know. Maybe there is a high demand for mages and there is associated bad business. Or maybe we are somewhat rare beings? *houseshrug.jpg*} <- Rampant speculation
Nope their weirdest reaction was to the oblique mention of our rather sudden transition. Wonder if this is a thing.
Mages seem to be semi-common.

Lots of interesting things in this update. The mechanics of how magic works, and in particular how dimensional travel works (via anchor) seem pretty cool, and I'm looking forward to finding more about it. I'm noticing a tension between the basic narrative and quest structure here - I feel the narrative would largely have been better served by learning about the anchor much later (and that's probably what one would see in a non-interactive story), but that would probably influence the players' choices even more strongly against character interaction or anything that might take a while, so it's for the best.

...And I'm being bad and discussing quest structure more than actually participating the voting. Whoops.

[X] SynchronizedWritersBlock

Treasure hunting interests me the most, and it'll be interesting to see how the pair react to Melia's questions. They seem quite well-disposed towards her, so this might provide a reasonable baseline for what we might expect when meeting new people.

Hey Oh Mighty GM @Alivaril how did we make our first friends? Did we find them when they were bodiless and give them bodies or did they find us?

I'm a little unclear on how we gain new elementals basically.
Sorry if this has already been covered.

Sorry if this has already been covered.

They already had bodies and were just hanging around the village. They can be a bit helpful, and as such, people try to encourage them to stick around; stone and wood elementals don't like it when concentrations of their element start to crack or rot, fire elementals are perfectly happy to help start them in exchange for being able to doze in the fire afterward, water elementals keep debris out of water supplies in exchange for candy, that sort of thing. They seemed oddly attracted to you even before you started trying to make them happy for the sake of your own warm fuzzies; once each of them started to adore you, you got the ability to summon them.

Coolio! Thanks.

Oh crap. Ahahahahahah!

We might have a random elemental wandering up to say hi as we go a-wandering if I understand the implications correctly.

Heh.

I don't agree with keeping dimensional travel or our anchor secret. Getting answers and help from a trustworthy mage is ourmy top priority, and to do that we're going to need to tell them that stuff. I don't see what value hiding it from these people has, and telling them they're on a time limit to get us to a mage should spur them to move faster than they would otherwise.

And we don't have time for treasure hunting either: delays ARE going to make us more lost. We have no guarantees that mages are even going to EXIST in the next dimension we hop to. We should be jumping at any chance for training or advice about what the hell's going on as fast as we possibly can.

[x] Agree to go with Ines and Eugene.
-[x] If there are any jobs you could do quickly to repay them, you're certainly willing, but they should be advised that you're on a 5 day time limit. The strange thoughts that aren't your own said so. Yes, you're extremely concerned about that.

-[x] Ask if they have any mage friends.

I'm definitely in favor of keeping dimensional travel a secret for now. We'll probably loosen up later on, but depending on various details of our dimensional travel, it might be something that we have to keep very very much a secret. For example, if we return to the same place every time we drop in to a dimension, anyone that knows about it can spawn-camp us. Anyone that figures out our various limitations can act against us when we're not around. And so on and so forth. These two seem cool so far, but I'd prefer to know some more about them and build up a relationship before we reveal our biggest weakness.

So, you don't want to even attempt to get information about our ability from a mage. Because that's what not telling anyone about our super-secret dimension travel means. You're saying the safest thing to do is to let our anchor expire and learn how our ability works that way.

I don't need to explain why willingly leaping into the unknown is a bad idea, do I?

...Yeah, that logic doesn't hold up. The particular set of dimensions we can travel to may or may not include such dimensions, and how common they are elsewhere wouldn't change that.

Also, I just want to point out that 'elemental planes' don't appear to be a major factor here. As in, the elements we have experience with don't appear to come from such a place. They seem to be more in line with the 'elementals occur naturally in their element' style of elementals.
