We feel sick at the very thought of killing someone and we couldn't handle hurting Edilion at first either, despite him being a dick.

What makes you think that Alex would be willing to use a brutal weapon like that? It's completely and utterly out of character

Well, you see, I KINDA DON'T EXPECT us to meet a wild Hatchet Face in the middle of Cauldron's HQ, so I KINDA DON'T EXPECT Alex to get that gun right now, and use it right away.

Of course, that couldn't possibly be your argument. That'd be absurd, right?

Especially since Eidolon has just told Alex that part of the training will be gaining the discipline and spine to actually punch back.

The answer to this problem is a gun.

A concealed gun.

A concealed tinkertech gun.

And if a concealed tinkertech gun is not enough, you need more gun.

I bet nobody would expect someone with a godlike power to actually BE PREPARED for a situation in which their power is unavailable. Certainly not 'prepared' in the form of a tinkertech gun.

And wouldn't you know? We're most likely going to meet Hero soon. Whose power is Wavelength Manipulation Tinkerbullshit. The Tinkerbullshit version of the Golden Beam of Fuck Off.

There's only so many hints you should need~

Make it a concealed Tinker tech nonlethal gun and you've got yourself a deal

And what situation is punching more effective then hitting someone really hard with a rock going 300 miles and what situation is punching more effective then hitting someone really hard with a rock going 300 MPH? Or a burst of gravity to make room or a sudden leap into the Air.

if there is a cape capable of completely shutting down our Abilities that means they just need to bring in another Cape and we instantly lose. Or hell just bring a gun. If I were a power neutralizing cape I'd have a gun on me.

If we get into the situation where punching is our only option we are fucked even if we are trained in martial arts

I can imagine a few instances, one being them getting in our face before we can hurl any rocks or us getting taken into a place where there isn't anything that we can use our power on like how David transported us just now. There is also nothing stopping us from using our powers on our strikes to deal heavy brute level strikes.

In regards to the potential power nullification I suggest going the Armsmaster route and just get someone to make us some tinker tech power armor so incase we do lose our powers we would still be able to hold our own. Being reduced to Brute level powers isn't really that bad and Alexandria was noted to know some martial arts.

I don't expect Alex to be able to carry around a lethal weapon for the only purpose killing people, if it was a stungun I could see him doing it, but a large part of Alex's personality is his plain old goodness, I don't think even Eidolon's training can be harsh enough to make us have the lethal instinct needed to pull the trigger of a gun and know it would kill someone.

[X] Stay and work with him. Despite his intense methods, you did ask for this. Besides, if it were anyone else other than him, you might have killed them. He's not the nicest man, but he is trying to help.

Wonder if we broke the record?

If i remember right, fuck you beam was also known as Stilling or something. Anyway, it has more than one setting. As in, the original memetic name Fuck You beam is probably less because of how much punch it packed but from the fact that it can do frakken anything on top of really ruining your day. So ultra tinkertech stungun or something is really not that far out of the realm of possibility. If we have the foresight to get it. Honestly if we were streetlevel hero starting in Brockton bay as many fics do with this personality, i would expect us to have shittone of gadgets so we have options beside pancaking someone when we are not sure the someone is durable enough.

Hey, so I've got a question. How does Path to Victory interact with our decisions? If Contessa interacts with us and we make a decision, what does she see? Does the path suddenly change (indicating our decisions are simply affecting our character) or does it stay consistent (indicating our decisions are warping the world itself)?

The second would be kind of scary, since no matter what decision we make, it is always on Contessa's Path.

After some talking to some friends, I've come to a realization. Path of Victory is like God's will. You don't see the benefit of it at the time, but he does. It sets in stone the end result, not how the destination is reached. The singular goal that Contessa has is saving the world. Literally everything else that happens in between is up in the air. The world will be saved, but as cannon has shown us, it comes in roundabout ways.

Because I'm pretty sure she didn't see Manton going insane.

edit: an example, if you will. We chose to train with Eidolon, and someone (presumably Contessa) told him to be a total asshole to us to inspire us.

David was given the evaluation, Manton and Contessa were the one who gave him some pointers.

But what if we had chosen Matthew or Rebecca? Which of these would have occurred?

A) Contessa is very surprised when she hears that she told Eidolon to antagonize us during training... only for us to have picked someone else

B) No matter who we picked, Contessa retroactively gave them and only them instructions on how to interact with us

C) Contessa just handed out a list of things for everyone to do at the last meeting.

Mostly B.

She woke up David in the middle of the night to tell him to get ready. He wasn't happy about it, but then Manton gave him his evaluation, one that David took very seriously.

Or you know something unexpected happened beyond like bad luck or a power that would probably make H2H useful at the situation. If either of those happened it wouldn't have been to us fucking up.

Ok, probably missed something bad but what is H2H?

Rebecca knows almost every martial arts in cannon. Right now, she's working through her first.

Wonder if we broke the record?

By a lot. You were able to stand David's presence in training for a whole ten minutes.

Matthew currently owes Charles twenty bucks and an hour of his time so he can shoot lasers into things.

He's kind of a dick, but he's a useful one. And if we stay and work with him, we have the opportunity to punt his ass through a mountainside.

-[x]While David is your main teacher, there is no reason to not spar with rest of Caludrons Agents (those with powers). But you have seen what kind of damage your power is capable to doing. Not anyone is that durable
as David and Rebecca. You must learn how to be precise control and learn how to do non-lethal takedown.

What you guys think about it?
Looks a little overly complex, especially considering we don't even know Rebecca's power yet IC. Take a look at my write in:

[] Write in: Work with everyone. David has opened your eyes to the possibilities, but he is just one. You will need to learn to deal with other powers, other strategies, and most importantly, other people. Work with the other Parahumans on the base to find out their and your limits.

So, good to see the conversations are still going.

I shall be putting my pen to paper for the storyboard for the next few chapters. But if you want a little more of my work, I am working with a good man by the name of @Zaru to create a nice little story on the side.

Nothing is Eternal

Don't worry, it won't impact the speed of SE chapters, but if you're interested in a Star Wars story, take a look.

[X] Go work with someone else. You don't give a damn if he was trying to open your eyes, he hurt you, without remorse. You can thank him for the lesson of how much you need to learn, but you can learn the rest from someone else.

Nope. Fuck this guy. We'll work with him if we have to, but we learned a lesson we needed to and don't need to work with him further right now. We can train with someone else and learn just fine without subjecting ourselves to that asshole.

Forcing ourselves to interact with David when we don't have to is just plain masochism. :p

*Shrugs* He's not a nice guy, but that's not really the important thing, now is it? I don't especially feel the need to dance to his tune, but we're going to have to work with him eventually anyway. Better to keep things relatively positive unless he really crosses the line- and he really didn't.

If being a good person was easy, everybody would be doing it.

He's a dick, pretty much expected that to be honest.

That being said our job is to get better not to like him and make friends.

He's our best shot at learning just what we can do, what our limits actually are.

Even if he does make us want to shove his head further up his ass than it already is.
This sums my opinion of this situation almost perfectly, we can't afford a soft approach with a power as lethal and broad as ours is
