You have to have an Arcane Art I think. Without getting inmate spells that compliment each other, it's impossibe to reach morning star rank. I think that means they have to be capable of an arcane art if they are that complementary.

When leylin joins oroborous clan, they show him an arcane art recording and inform him about how its possible to not have an arcane art.
I think it was mention that some fail arts would somehow let you advance without giving you an innate spell at some ranks
Or that the spells are complementary enough to advance, but not merge into an arcane art
it was definitely mentioned that there are some "failures" who manage to reach rank 4 but without arcane art.
oh, it might also be because they brokethrough using the "forcibly learn a spell of the next level" method instead of high grade meditation technique
Oh, and various species from other worlds breakthrough with their body so they do not have arcane arts. so maybe its possible too for magi who focus on body cultivation?
Some meditation techniques are also defective or incomplete.
Supposedly originally meditation techniques didn't have arcane arts, but those were developed by generations over tens of thousands of years in the past, specifically engineered into the meditation techniques
Oh IIRC it was also mentioned that if you do have slightly incompatible spells, then instead of exploding you could still advance, but you would be weaker than others as you need to constantly spend a portion of your power holding yourself together / healing the damage of the incompatibility. I am also amazed someone like that was even able to get to rank 4 at all, how could this even be? I think the author of WMW just didn't really think it through.
Even though we were told about rank 4s without arcane arts, the only ones we ever saw were creatures that advanced with their bodies.
I think power creep was involved in the whole thing too. author needed new scrubs that are not too scrubby. so suddenly there are more higher ranks

I don't actually care much about the gender. But retcons irritate me and that would change a good bit(if only of this chapter). and the more time spent retconning thing the more likely the writer loses interest and the longer it takes to get new updates out.

Light is also really good at holy purification. dispersing ghosts and the like.
This was demonstrated when an amalgam of tortured souls created by a crazy cult fought with a light mage.
Incidentally, it is worth noting that necromancy is a school under darkness/shadow, and necromancy is very important since ultimately magus stuff is mostly about the soul. so some advanced stuff would really benefit from necromancy
So being a magus with Light element primary might hinder us in that capacity.
that being said, without the AI Cheat this will probably not be relevant anyways. Our own gamer cheat also makes us not really need to resort to such crude actions, we can just grind

For light - We don't want to go to an academy full of illusionists because we are more likely to be found out. IF our immunity to illusions applies to that kind as well as mental ones

well, apparently illusions that are so good they are "real" and can injure us exist, and our immunity to illusions will make it so that we cannot see them to dodge or block, but can still get harmed by them
So yea, I think we would be immune to illusions. and I can't imagine a light element academy without illusions. so probably better not go that route.
we could still have light or even illusion as a secondary.

Its up to the author, but i think he may want to differentiate mental/spirit/soul illusions from physical/visual/audio illusions. The ones they try to effect our mind would get blocked, but if you make a rabbit out of light its still an actual gathering of light into the shape of a rabbit so we should see it and would have to use observe or something to tell if its fake

Soul is the foundation of all magic. So this is like saying our elemental affinity is the element of magic itself. like twilight sparkle!
Also, soul spells are necromancy spells are darkness/shadow element. so i am not quite sure how a soul affinity would work in this context
Probably be best to get QM to weigh in on this.
the fact that as a gamer we can prestige our skill in meditation to get a high grade meditation technique suited for us is actually a thing in favor of this being viable
Oh, and remember that while affinity can be anything, if it is something too exotic we cannot find external sources of radiation, having to provide our own, and as such our cultivation rate suffers and our casting capability is reduced

So, a small write in to personality. We grew up homeless, we are a vindictive little horror. but as malicious as we can be, we are not going to stick out our neck too much and take too many risks to get revenge. Wouldn't have survived on the street with such an attitude.

Yeah, I think I would differentiate based on how it works. Anything that affects your mind would get negated but stuff using light would be more of a construct than an illusion even if it is called the same.
Hmmm... I think Soul can be acceptable to a degree. This would be different from Spiritual Force and Soul Force though. More like an element that leans towards soells that affect a persons spirit or one that is more suited for necromany than darkness. You could also consider it similar to what those Cult guys could do with collecting and merging spirits or the guy that split his soul into three different people.

I changed personality because his wording is basically what i want to do and he worded it much better than i could have. I chose a female Cat because it really doesn't matter as long as the QM doesn't do something stupid about it and make it important. Although i still think cat should just be cat and not short for anything, she's a street rat so its the sort of name she could easily be given.
I changed the secondary affinity because
Sounds far too useful to me. Rather than focusing in the death/souls of the dead if we focus on souls of the living it could be incredibly useful. The soul splitting without messing yourself up to create better clone techniques and use them at lower stages (If you are up to date with the translations the better clones would be useful). Also it would help in doing what Leylin is doing to murder people via clone soul connection and protecting against the same. Besides these which are definite benefits i can see a number of other uses depending on the QM's judgement.
First and most likely to be allowed making use of soul + life affinities to heal soul wounds and damage, from cannon we learn that these are things which can cripple even people with MC hacks for more than a decade as they recover. Learning to heal this would be very valuable to others, not so much to ourselves unless the QM goes with long term damage status effects... depends on the rules.
Slightly less likely is using soul links to followers/minions/"friends" in order to communicate across near any distance, ensure loyalty via ability to launch a soul attack, possibility to heal or pass other spells/effects/knowledge across the link.
- for a normal person setting up a network of "equals" would be far to dangerous due to possible outsiders (or insiders) mind controlling people through the link, but gamer laughs at that. QM can scale this from mildly useful to super OP depending on what he allows it to be used for

Not quite... It was mentioned that there were morning stars without arcane arts but they usually didn't use a meditation technique and used some precious resources, leading to innate spell models not being complementary (this can be crippling for a magi and these types of morning stars are generally looked down upon, a character commented that they're not that much stronger than a rank 3 crystal phase) , Arcane arts are something only Magi have had since ancient magi made them (Which, when you look at the amount of time and the difficulty that the AI chip would've had if it made them from scratch without other advanced meditation techniques as reference , this is pretty ridiculously crazy) and distributed them to pretty much any advanced meditation technique they made after that point, but their innate spells were complementary even before then.
Only Magi have arcane arts, I'm not sure about offshoots that used to be human but distanced themselves through some form of magical evolution or biological experiments, but it is stated for sure that explicit enemies of magi like the gods from the world of gods do not have arcane arts and suffer(ed) a lot due to this. This gives a magus a HUGE advantage vs opponents of other races. It is implied that, to the knowledge of the magus world, no other race has managed to crack mass production of advanced meditation techniques with arcane arts, however this may not be true due to the long period of time since their fall after their battle with the world of gods leaving them relatively isolated.
Even if all of the innate spell models are complementary, an arcane art may not be formed. Sure, they do have to be complementary to form an arcane art however they also need to be made in such a way that they can combine (unless this is what you meant when you said complementary). When leylin first modelled the fourth level of kemoyin's pupil, it would have worked since the spell model was made exactly for his giant kemoyin warlock physique, and it wouldn't have formed any imbalance with his other innate spell models due to things like bad element mix-up or crafting, but they would not combine to form an arcane art as he had no idea that they existed at the time.
