What if I were to tell you that the gods of old still existed? No, not God from the Abrahamic religions. Though that could be true if one looks at him in the same 'ruler of the free universe' role that Odin, Zeus, Jupiter, Amaterasu, The Dagda, Perun, Tengri, Marduk or Brahma filled. No, I'm talking about the truly old pantheons. The ones the ancient civilizations worshipped. They've been roaming the Earth for millennia you see, in the form of human hosts. Beings who, through sharing their body with these deities, have gained immense powers and abilities.
Now most of these deities are benevolent, fighting for life, creation, and humanity as a species even if we're intent on constantly warring with each other. You probably know most of them. The Egyptian Ma'at, the Olympians of ancient Greece and Rome, and the Viking gods of Valhalla to name a few. Sure, we've kept things more low-key in the last few centuries, but we're still around. Still fighting them.
You see, not everyone's looking out for our best interests. Some hosts use their powers for their own personal gains. They're relatively harmless though, the worst the common crook does is bank heists, drug-smuggling, white-collar crime, maybe running a revolution or two. They are unimaginative or content enough to not go beyond what they could get through normal means. Far more dangerous are the monsters and gods that make up the forces of chaos. They'd love nothing more than to force all of existence back into primordial stew it crawled out of eons ago, and they would have done so hundreds of times over if we hadn't stopped them at great cost to ourselves…
Now I know what you're probably thinking. "This lass is as mad as a box of frogs, what with her talk of gods and monsters and what naught…"
But you've heard that voice that voice in your head, the one that came with its own name and talks about the higher calling your destined to partake in. You've seen the unbelievable stuff and you've done things that you can't explain away. And even if that wasn't enough to convince you, then why are you here? Either you were drawn here by something, or brought here by my sister Catherine and the others who saved you from whatever ghouls tried to kill you before you could truly discover your powers.
So, tell me. After seeing the unexplainable, hearing the improbable, and coming face to face with the impossible… How crazy can I really be?

A city on the water burns in the aftermath of a great battle in its streets. Ancient stone monuments to kings of old lay in piles of rubble next to the remains of steel and glass skyscrapers meant to symbolize rebirth after the last great war that devastated this part of the world. The dust from their collapse creates a horrendous smog as it spread through the land.
A smog that suffocated you with every breath as you stumble through the city streets. You have no idea how or why you ended up here, or what was going on for that matter. Either you just got teleported to the biggest terrorist attack in human history, or World War 3 just kicked off…
"You're not far off there." A voice says behind you. You turn around to see:

She holds a spear in her right hand, the left holding a gold shield that covers her entire arm. An owl, perched on her right shoulder, stares at you with unblinking eyes.
[] A Samurai in full armor, golden eyes the only thing you can see behind red and white overlapping plate armor. He holds a spear with a long sword like blade in his right hand, a pair of swords tucked into a sash like belt with a large bow and quiver hung on his back.
[] A woman with tan skin and flowing black hair dressed in a red short sleeve dress that goes down to her sandal clad feet, glowing rainbow birdlike wings sprouting from her back. In her hands is a staff, the top of which is a cross with its tops part replaced by a loop.

Hosts:
Hosts are the human vessels that the gods use to keep the world safe. Hosts are pretty similar to how Rick Riordan uses it the Kane Chronicles series (The god forms part of their consciousness, granting the host with powers said god had in it's mythology as well as items/equipment they are often portrayed with) with a few noticeable differences.
Hosts age much slower than a normal human. Fifty years for them is the equivalent of one human year. In addition they have enhanced strength, agility, and durability, though just how enhanced varies from host to host (Hermes would be a fragile speedster while Ares would be a mighty glacier.)
The Order of Creation:
The side you're going to be on, dedicated to keeping humanity, and creation itself, safe from all the things that go bump in the night. Made up of hosts from around the world, they not only protect it from rogue hosts and the forces of Chaos, but also keep this mystical world hidden from human eyes.
While they have bases, known as Sanctuaries, around the globe, you'll be based out of the one in the Northeastern US.

Simply put, think of everything in mythology and folklore that seemed to exist solely for the purpose of wiping civilization off the map. Through their own hosts and their minions, they have fought the forces of creation for eons.

In early 1794, during the height of The Terror in Paris, Elizabeth and Henry were part of a group that's dispatched one posing as one of Robespierre's lieutenants. 150 years later in 1942, their younger sister Catherine would dispatch another in Berlin. Whatever reason for the hunters return, one can promise it bodes ill for the world.

Bio: Born in the quite town of Northfield Minnesota, Colin lived a fairly normal life helping his dad take care of his mother and twin sister Bridgette. Then on September 7th,1876, two things happened that would change his life. First Both he and his sister were chosen as the new hosts of the twin gods Apollo and Artemis respectively. Secondly, Jesse James made the mistake of robbing his town's bank.
Using their new found gifts, the twins helped their neighbors shoot the living daylights out of the James-Younger gang. The two went their separate ways afterwards, Bridgette following Artemis's guidance into the order, and Colin becoming a lawman. During his travels he crossed paths with legendary lawman Jim Masterson, who took him under his wing and eventual inducted him into the order as well.

Isis is all about motherhood, magic, and bestowing power. So that'd be the support character.
Hachiman is not only a god of archery, the Minamoto clan, and Japan's resident security guard, but also of agriculture and fishing. So an offense-defense character with some support elements.
Athena is both war and wisdom. She's strategist, tactician, warrior, diplomat, and medic. She is known as a front-line fighter and only picking just causes. Athena is the goddess of the heroes of the ancient myths, where The Great Man was not only the best warrior, but the best Leader. We not only get to bust heads, but command armies, gather great political power, research all kinds of cool stuff! We may not be the greatest at personal combat, but when you're the head of not!C.O.R.E., you don't have to be.
