AI troops in TF1 had dumbfire rockets, yeah. If I had to speculate, I'd say they lost it to balance out the loss of regenerating Titan shields.I can't really remember but didn't the tf1 stalkers have anti titan weapons? Or at least one member of the squad with one.
Overall, while pilot sentries are a thing you can deal with, they're the wrong kind of problem to have to deal with in this kind of game. The ability to lock down an area for a significant length of time is bad joojoo in such a movement-focused game. A squad of Stalkers, equipped with anti-infantry/anti-Titan weapons depending on which boost you use, would be able to pressure anybody who enters that area and send up a signal flare that there's something worth shooting there (maybe with a Titan-style "engaging hostile Pilot" voice line), without having quite so absolute effect.
