Pilot, your Titanfall Thread is ready. Steam boost activated.

I can't really remember but didn't the tf1 stalkers have anti titan weapons? Or at least one member of the squad with one.
AI troops in TF1 had dumbfire rockets, yeah. If I had to speculate, I'd say they lost it to balance out the loss of regenerating Titan shields.

Overall, while pilot sentries are a thing you can deal with, they're the wrong kind of problem to have to deal with in this kind of game. The ability to lock down an area for a significant length of time is bad joojoo in such a movement-focused game. A squad of Stalkers, equipped with anti-infantry/anti-Titan weapons depending on which boost you use, would be able to pressure anybody who enters that area and send up a signal flare that there's something worth shooting there (maybe with a Titan-style "engaging hostile Pilot" voice line), without having quite so absolute effect.

Ok, that's what I thought and that's more or less my rationale, pilot sentry's are just...bad for the game. Think upgraded stalkers would be a good call in mostly because stalkers as they are function as tougher cannon fodder. The hope for specter's would be tough enough that they can deter a pilot or titan from charging the entire squad.

And random thought but does anyone else love the fact that the campaign implies there's an open channel all the pilots(and possibly even their titans) are using to trash talk eachother? It's so dumb but I love it all the same.

Well a lot of pilots are apparently mercenaries - enough that the Frontier Militia was able to maintain their Pilot corps primarily through the use of mercs, and now the IMC is hiring as well, so there's probably a lot of merc-on-merc fights where neither side are fanatical ideologues. Pilots can, also, apparently, respawn even in-universe if I'm reading some of the voice lines right.

So the trash talking is not just fun, it even makes sense in universe!

I really wish the Apex titans had talked along side their pilots. There was a moment early on where I a scorch titan opens the feed and ends its taunt with static(if I remember correctly that is) and I just waited for BT to make a comment about the other titans but he said nothing.

Feels like a wasted opportunity.

The problem with pilot sentries is that they don't have the same kind of speed-based tracking the AI in the singleplayer games have. Instead it seems to be like this weird binary system where either it's not locked on to you and is dumber than a bag of rocks, letting you walk up to it and punch it, or it is locked to you and you're dead the next millisecond.

I wish there was more dialogue in the game in general, especially for boys in attrition. Hearing: "they're trying to corner us!" Over and over is starting to mildly grate on my nerves.

Of course, I can always just run over and punch the offending grunt hard enough to send him flying ten feet away, which tends to be a good stress reliever.

I like Crash site. Mostly because I keep accidentallying myself out of the map. But still. Fun

There are a surprising amount of alcoves that are just out of the map. Wish they lowered them so I wouldn't keep being warned I was leaving while running the routes.

Man I am utterly bollocks at this game's multiplayer. Except that one 8v8 Bounty Hunt private match, that was fun. And Last Titan Standing, but that's more hit and miss.

Also I like Tone best, but I'm not very good with her. I'd like to be better with Ronin, though. What's the best kit-out for him?

I like three dash, two armament kit with slow fall.

Pop in, sword slash, dash, sword slash, either run away or dash into them.

The thing for Ronin is that it relies on hit and run and the fact you can do a ton of burst damage onto a any other titan.

Three-dash is kind of niche on Ronin, honestly. It gives you a big burst of speed, but because it slows down the recharge rate of your dash (which the game doesn't tell you) it kills your long-term mobility.

Nuclear Eject is a common pick, but if you want to actually get GOOD with Ronin, I'd advise taking double smoke and using it to aggressively pop smoke on top of your enemies to confuse and damage them.

You can find a lot of tips and information about playing Ronin in this video, but the biggest one is probably to get comfortable making heavy use, even abuse, of his sword block. You may think Ronin is a fragile Titan, but he's really not - he's the only chassis that can use his defensive ability indefinitely, and sword blocks damage reduction is a whopping 75% - or 90% while your Core is active. To put that in perspective, that's the difference between a Salvo Core burning you down from full, and chipping away maaaaybe one bar of health - less if you pop your own core.

EDIT: This also means that you may want to consider treating Sword Core as primarily a mobility/tanking power with its damage potential as a handy side effect. Because it improves your sword block and dash recharge, you can use the Core to get up in peoples faces and shrug off plenty of firepower, taking pressure off your teammates. It's tempting to go into a swinging frenzy with Sword Core, but you really only need to land a handful of blows to get your moneys worth, and especially in Last Titan Standing you may be more valuable sitting in your enemies personal space to blind them with the big orange glow that screams "SHOOT ME (i'm nigh-invulnerable)!"

I keep forgetting triple dashes does that. I'm ok with it on my north star but I need to get it off my ronin.

For Ronin, Nuclear Eject is good if you're starting out, but as you become better Ronin will be more than just a nuclear delivery device.

Overcore and Double Smoke are the best kits to use on Ronin. Overcore because Ronin will get Sword Core is faster, which means you can Sword Block more for significantly reduced damage and be utterly terrifying as you dash in more frequently and do 2k damage per swing. Double Smoke because it works very well in disorientating the opposition as they will try their damndest to get out of it.

Agree with their arguments.

If you ever need to nuclear desperately northstar's probably the best at it due to grapple traps. That and between a situational core and triple dashes being situational she can actually gain a lot from being a nuclear delivery platform.

That being said. I recommend never using nuclear eject simply because it's performance is mostly up to your opponents not you and because it feels really bad to die to it.

Quick question, what's SV's network? Do we have a list of Titanfall 2 players?

On the topic of game itself, I'm loving the L-Star. I know it's not a good weapon, but it's got immediate rapid fire and juuuuust enough spread so you don't have to worry about being super accurate with it which really plays into my run and gun style of play. Which is my problem with the Volt, it's good, but it's too accurate and I don't have aimbot levels of precision so I end up missing most of the time unless I take things slow, which is death in this game.

Honestly, I find three-dash is even worse on North Star, because I do a lot of peeking around corners, taking a shot then dashing into cover with her. She really benefits from always having a dash available for that.

Ok, I just unlocked the R-201, and let me say-

This gun is disgusting. Not Devotion or Hemlock levels of disgusting, but still disgusting.

It's a fucking buzz saw up close, you hardly have to aim because just sweeping it in front of you like a flamethrower is enough to demolish any pilot who's unfortunate to be there.

This is supposed to be offput by its accuracy, but frankly due to the sheer volume of bullets it fires you can kill people from halfway across the map with some controlled bursts and the weapons sheer weight of fire.

An imperial guard commander would be proud.

The R201 is a stock weapon lol.

Anyway, is this on console? If so, it's mostly because ARs have better auto-aim than other weapon classes.

If PC, then the R201 is an inferior Volt/CAR. While the R201 is still good, the Volt and CAR just flat out beats the R201 in almost every respect.

It is indeed on console, because I am a peasant scrub who can't afford a good PC.

Maybe I'm thinking of the wrong weapon...(it is 3 in the morning here after all)...isn't the R-201 the last SMG you unlock?

(Now that I'm thinking about it, yeah that does sound a lot like the main AR. Shit, I should've gone to bed like, 2 hours ago... -_-)

R-201 is the default AR. Checking the wiki, it says that the last SMG you unlock is the R-97. Understandable to get those names confused.
