[X] Plan: We Can Win A Regenerating Lance
-[X] Purchase the Warrior Saint's Bell, a Growth Decoration that aids in coordinating allies and subordinates on the field of battle. Granting instinctual knowledge of your actions to up to (Decade) Allies, as well as more general transmission of your will to all allies in earshot. This allows for easy use of coordinated attacks, and raises the bar to suffer from collateral damage considerably. (5 Wealth, will not be available later)
-[X] Purchase the Nail of Martyrs, a Growth Decoration that aids in piercing even the toughest hides, reducing Damage Reduction against your attacks by (Decade x 5), as well as producing (Decade) Zeal per year. Also has an effect on Rebuke and other forms of Denial equal to (Decade/2), stacking with other effects. (3 Wealth, will not be available later)

This is a bad idea.

Do not expect victory. Every single fight here will push you to your absolute limits, and if you get unlucky, you might get rolled out as early as round two. One of those poor rolls on the market here would have given you that outcome.

[X] Plan: Our Body Is A Temple
-[X] Put in an order for a shipment of Bornholm Shale–this is a Stone Foundation Material that will count as a Resilience material, raising your Damage Reduction by 10 for the cost of 2 Stone Slots. (2 Wealth now–2 more by the time you leave, for 4 total)

-[X] If you really feel you need a little more coin, there's a fair resale market here too… You could sell one of the pieces of equipment you don't need, or potentially unload the full set and maybe get a little extra. Of course, you won't have these to distribute or sell elsewhere later in that case…
--[X] Sell the Runed Helm (+1 Wealth)

Just throwing together a plan here focusing entirely on the discounted Temple components, selling off the Helm loot to make up one wealth of difference and leave us at zero (plus whatever cash we win at the tournament, less 2). Basically, given the options, I wanted to put together a plan that's focused on putting together the one-off chances of getting stuff for our Temple over weapons we can likely find or commission at another time.

EDIT: CedeTheBees had a similar idea with their first plan but this one hangs on to the other parts of the loot for later use. Bird in the hand and all.

I'm not sure that is easily possible, given the big selling point of this Lance is that it regenerates and thus can be broken as often as you want, and used as the basis for a Finale?
(Though that Finale basis would mean that we are probably 'stuck' with this quality level for a long long time)

I feel like the problem here is finding the regenerating material, not finding a good enough artisan to work with it, and I'm not getting the impression from the narrative that Bornholm offers any particular advantage here other than being a location with a lot of artisans. I could be wrong, though - I just still feel like the Shale is a better long-term investment.

EDIT: I may have missed it but is a Lance some kind of requirement for advancement at this stage? We're a Frankish-style knight I suppose it could be and I just skimmed past it.

Getting someone who can make Superior quality cheaply would be very hard outside of here, and I don't think it's a spoiler to say the odds of you ever coming back are slim to none.

Would it be too out there to ask them for Grand quality Foundation material?

Foundation materials wouldn't qualify in the same scale, but you could probably get some good foundation mats there, yeah.

Hm...if that's the case, then maybe a Lance is more valuable even if we can't use it for this tournament. I suppose if Charge It wins we can always return to the Shale after the tournament (still having the loot on hand to sell plus the round 1 cash prize if we're not unlucky or unskilled - that will give us the ability to pay 4 Wealth upfront).

Thats literally the intention with that plan, yeah.

If we get that second round win, then God willing we'll find something in that vault good enough to give Audrey that extra bit of spice to really push her over the edge into Super Silk Pants Pants Silk tier bullshit

How about decorations, they might be keeping the really good christian items back in the vault but would they hand it over if we get past Round 2.

No, they can't make them, and it's explicitly "Things they can make". Raw materials is kind of a weird edge case but it might slide, we'd have to discuss it as a team.

A lance is in no way required for advancement, but having a weapon designed around charging people, and then getting rotes that build into that, are very nice. Plus, quite a few of us have been salivating over the idea of a "Charge of DOOM" style attack. This attack basically takes advantage of how adding more restrictions (that actually matter) to a Rote/Finale make it stronger, and we stack a massive amount of restrictions to get a Finale that deletes a man and scares the absolute hell out of all his nearby mates, and has a massive amount of Priority so that people typically can't block it.
Must be used as the first attack of a fight
Must be used on a charge
Must be used with a lance
This regenerating lance means that we could add "Destroys the weapon used"
Must be unnoticed by the target (We have Cloak of Invisibility, which makes us undetectable until we are about to hit an attack)
Then there are probably some other ones I have forgotten.

Christians being weirdos that prefer raw stone and wood to loot is at least a somewhat known thing, right?

The Heart Rending Charge idea as it stands now includes the Bog (Enemy must be ensnared), Fog (Enemy Must Not Be Able to See), Sound Manipulation (The Enemy Must Think It Can Come From Anywhere), and then once it hits amplify it with Light Based Presence/Terror Amplification and a Boom of Thunder (Enemy Must See Something That Introduces Fear Into Their Hearts) to basically open a mass battle with fucking enemy morale.

Which combined with that Bell Decoration means itd be even more effective to coordinate with.

This seems a bit much, considering we know Cloak of Invisibility counters exist, and if we stack the conditions up that far it will be fat enough to warrant such deployment?

I'm legitimately not sure how this is ever going to be deployed after the first time it gets out, since everyone and their mother (that matters) will be trying to cheese this Finale during setup then

it's going to be situational, and the funny thing about it is that its intended to fuck over masses of mooks for setpiece battles.

Not gank a warband leader, but ganking one of their better fighters off the bat if the situation calls for it. That's why the point isn't damage, its the terror.

And you cant cheese morale checks unless you're employing mind control shenanigans...Shenanigans which would be nearly useless against Audrey herself.

Edit: For setpiece battles, you just don't need to employ it often. Even having it go off once or twice successfully is going to have massive repercussions. And the threat of it alone is going to cause people to adopt mass combat actions to try and account for it.

Those kinds of sensory techniques aren't cheap to employ, either. That's a lot of investment tied up in trying to counter Audrey specifically.

Carolingians specifically, and they're known to have a weird interest in raw materials, though not necessarily instead of normal loot.

The restrictions on a Finale need to tell a coherent story, I'm not sure this is quite there. Not for a lance charge. Need to think about it a bit...

Really?

A cryptid approaching from a fogbank that's come out of nowhere on a sunny day and being helpless to prevent a force of terror and death destroying a pillar of strength in a single swoop as you hear them approaching slowly, their OHOHOHOHO booming through the thick, mist-filled air, knowing that there's nothing you can do to stop it as it inevitably falls upon you?

Sounds like a ghost story to me.
