Well... Okay then.

Either the Dark Queen has been at this a *while*, or she can pluck people out of time. Possibly both. The Princely flashback to a previous Butterfly Knight does imply that this has been going on for a lot longer than just the current iteration of Team Butterfly... On the other hand, uh. If the Dark Queen has been operating basically unopposed from at *least* the 1930s up to 2004, how has she not long since achieved... world domination? ... What *is* the Dark Queen's goal, actually?
Earlier (chapter 6 part 1) there's a dream where Prince Thornheart makes refrence to having been in a military regiment in British india, which probably places him pre-1930. He was the newest prince then, but he was with the first prince and I think it's implied there were princes who were gotten from between the two of them. Which would place the dark queens influence probably quite a bit before 1930. Like, possibly even pre British Raj, as far back as the 18th century. Which is even more time for her to have conquered earth when it was probably a lot easier.

She's only really been in one scene but I think Butterfly Shine is my favourite character yet. Her flair for the dramatic is just perfect.

Somewhere, behind the smoke and mirrors, behind the curtain, a fifteen year old girl pulled back the hammer of a revolver and held it up with shaking hands.
Between how confidently she presents herself to the team who's already there, the illusion powers, and the fear she's covering up with all this flash and gleam, I get the distinct impression she's going to have imposter syndrome really bad.

On the other hand, uh. If the Dark Queen has been operating basically unopposed from at *least* the 1930s up to 2004, how has she not long since achieved... world domination? ... What *is* the Dark Queen's goal, actually?
It's notable that the demons start getting stronger by a whole lot in the modern era, so it might be that the current generation is where human tool use hit the critical mass where a small enough core of people could use weapons of enough potency to actually wipe out the planet. It could also just be that it took a really, really long time to gather all that energy and she only got it all this time. On a more sympathetic note, maybe she wasn't trying to kill everything and just had trouble establishing control without losing it. It's very hard to rule from the shadows if people invade and kill all your patsies in plain sight.

Thought so, but somehow Alice in Wonderland also kept badgering my mind and I just wasn't sure.
Disney's Alice is also blue and white, but it's a white apron(?) over a solid blue dress, where as Dorothy wears a blue and white gingham dress. He shoes are also a blue version of the ruby slippers, so sapphire slippers.

"Was us saving Eve not enough to make the Butterfly Knights good guys?" Kimiyo asked bitterly. Riley had rather brilliantly suggested that Butterfly Sage show up with Eve to explain her return after three weeks, and blame the whole thing on the enemy having kidnapped her, so she wouldn't get in trouble. This had worked, but led both to a rather surreal circumstance of a very grateful, teary-eyed Mrs. Nakamura insisting that Sage at least stay for dinner

Well that puts a level to just how intense things were getting last flashback. Three weeks of Butterfly Ward being missing, especially as she's the tank/healer and probably has the super effective attacks/finishets given the Sailor Moon inspiration... Yeah those were a bad three weeks.

You can tell Wicked hasn't become mainstream pop culture yet because she's going for Dorothy instead of Glinda, Elphaba or a bit of both.
