[X] Swordsmachine: Masters of blade arts, Swordsmachines are instruments of death. Using their speed and arm-blades to slice apart the enemy frontline, they are trench-butchers. Swordsmachines are shock infantry, duelists, and blademasters.
[X] Warweave. Pull your hair into a tight and intricate spiral weave which focuses the power of your null field to disrupt electronic attacks. +1 INFOWAR (so long as Warweave is active).
[X] Petriform Gas. It starts as a coughing, a wheezing, released from a Koinon artillery shell. Then the crystals embed themselves in lungs, in the bloodstream, in the muscles. Within hours, the growths emerge on your skin. Within days, the crystal is fusing and clustering, eating the victim alive. Within weeks, the infection reaches their soul. There is no cure.

[X] Egophage: Masters of electronic warfare, egophages adopt the trappings of pneumatic psychic powers for a cybernetic age. Manipulating light in order to attack enemies from ambush and range, Egophages are snipers, commandos, and assassins.
[X] Combat Plugs. Grow your hair into woven braids ending in tied electronic jacks you can use to enhance your weaponry and machines. +1RHYTHMS (so long as Combat Plugs are active).

After some thought I've edited the Evil Eye to be a corneal implant in both your eyes. I felt that if it won it would be too unbalanced of a design to only have it one eye when you already have a Nail in your head. Not a big change but improves the aesthetic of it.
But how will we wear an eyepatch to brood mysteriously with now?

Okay but actually having three different eyes is way cooler than one odd one to two matching ones.

Come on, people, Shivers is the best skill in DE, and we have a chance to increase its equivalent by a lot. Don't you want the planet itself to whisper its intrusive thoughts into our head through the static and whirring of our machine brethren?
Vote for mecha-horseys, vote for hair plugs, vote for RHYTHMS!

also swords are boring

Swords are good at cutting strings. Lovergirl may not believe that our strings can be cut, which may be true for the string of love, but in Warhammer swords have great narrative significance. Can you hack a demon? Yes, you can with a sword.

Given the Hydra on Illuminata can only rarely appear outside a material host - yes, you can hack a demon :V

On a quester min-maxing level, I would like to vote for Swordsmachine because MOTION BLUR is one of our best stats, and this puts it up to a 6, which is the territory where it may actually be able to do some good when we get into serious danger against serious foes. INFOWAR is also useful but we're almost certainly picking the hairstyle option which raises it, and it is fundamentally more of a defensive stat. Hacking enemies is a neat trick but this is still fundamentally a world where fights are settled by guns, swords, or psychic might, and there is a reason the Egophage build works as a sniper.

On a broader thematic level, I just think being a swordmistress with bullet time and a terror field is cool. It's also such a heel face turn on Harmony's experience so far, it's kinetic and active when we've been forced to be quite passive. That feels appropriate given that the war itself is likely to upend everything we know. Now that being said, all of the options are cool as Derpmind points out.

Hmm...

I will keep it as it is, then, for now. We'll see how things go - if it wins I'll contemplate it more. Don't want to swing back and forth willy-nilly.

Could go for it as some kind of inbuilt goggles, monocle or reticule that flips over our regular eyes? Might be necessary to have something like that in order to see out of your own optical camouflage, actually. Of course I'd prefer that Swordsmachine wins, but even so, it is interesting to think about!

On a min-maxing level, Egophage would bring us to INFOWAR 6, and would make us both a stealth archer sniper and a hacker. Meanwhile, Irontamer would bring us to RYHTHM 5, which would synergize with our INCANDESCENCE 5 and INTERLACE 5 for a highly social build, and has the best equipment gain in an extremely deadly new friend.

On a thematic level, Swordsmachine puts Harmony directly into the position she was being conditioned for: Thrown into the worst of the fighting, sent to kill as many enemies as possible on the very riskiest of missions before, presumably, dying herself. I think it's likely to make the war significantly more traumatic for her than the other options.

Picking Egophage will involve us being a sniper/hacker, which means observing our targets for minutes or hours and getting familiar with their movements before we shoot them whilst they're unaware and defenceless. Given how integrated into one's consciousness and subconscious Illuminatan cybernetics are, the "hacking" aspects of the Egophage build will probably involve some degree of weaponised empathy or feeling the some of the feelings of those we're targetting. Irontamer is going to involve us building up a bond of love and trust and empathy with our robot-steed, and then at some point having to watch it die in agony.

It's absolutely fine to have preferences between the options, but there is no "safe" option or options here that protect Harmony from trauma or exposure to violence. All of the option involve us fundamentally being used as a disposable tool of warfare; that's also what our fellow soldiers are going to be, even Sympathy for that matter. It is better to think of it as picking different flavours of trauma than any option necessarily making the war more traumatic.

In terms of the usefulness of different stats, INFOWAR 6 is nice, but again, if we do not have the benefits of a camouflaged sniper's nest, it cannot actually reliably prevent us from being punched in the face in a world where we are 100% going to get punched in the face from time to time. Whatever the benefits of a "highly social build", this is probably not our highest priority when we are shortly going to be having machine guns shot at us.

Come on, I want us to be an elite hacker who can turn invisible and be a sniper.

I think the most optimal thing is to ride a robot dinosaur

but lacking that, I think the egophage is the most toxic yuri option available as demonstrated by the sapphic detectives, and that's important too

My main reason for not voting Egophage is because the leading locks option is Warweave, and I'd rather raise another stat. If other Warweave voters are willing to switch to another locks style so Warweave doesn't win (FYI Combat Plugs, which raises Rhythms, is 2nd place for the locks style option) then I'd be willing to switch to Egophage.

Tho I understand that's unlikely :V

[X] Irontamer: Knights on machine-back, irontamers tame and control powerful sentient machines as war-mounts. Synchronicity between rider and machine can unlock ancient abilities and systems. Irontamers are scouts, lancers, and cataphracts.

+1 RHYTHMS (so long as Combat Plugs are active).

I've switched to Combat Plugs for the locks style edit: and took off my approval vote for swordsmachine. For other Egophage voters, would you be willing to switch your Warweave vote to it? I promise to vote for Egophage if enough of you vote for Combat Plugs since it raises Rhythms, which as the Shivers analogue has the potential to be a font of more beautiful storytelling for the quest.
