She's a domineering taskmistress to her crew, but those that sign on with her know exactly what they're getting into and seem not to be objecting to it,

.... Ok, am I reading it right, or has the internet irrevocably corrupted me?

Are the undead flocking to her because they want to serve under a dommy mommy?

... If so, sounds interesting to know more about.

[X] The Lamprey

Edit: just realised.... a GOTH dommy mommy.

[X] The Tide of Skjold

I've got to say this crew strikes me best as the all-rounder we're supposed to be looking for as our first acquisitions team. Swimming as undead who don't need to breath is great for acquiring sunken salvage or getting in somewhere unnoticed, while skill at portaging should vastly expand the range of potential locations available to them, whether that's peacefully rummaging through ruins further inland or a more aggressive raid for an artifact that someone else already holds.

"Uncle Paht," says the living embodiment of insouciance draped haphazardly over his throne as you come in, and you search his eyes for recognition and find none. "My old haunt to your liking?"

"Plenty of room, potential for even more, delightful aesthetics while being a bit less off-putting to the merely mortal than Awakening. It will suit my purposes marvelously," you say, trying to get a read on this new Luthor.

"Good," he says, jumping to his feet. "You're going to need things to put in it, then. Follow me, I'll take you around some of the more reliable crews for you to choose between."
Luthor does seem pretty fond of Paht all things considered.

It's hard to tell at first what has changed as you follow Luthor through the streets, as arrogance suffused the previous Luthor just as much as this one does, but it eventually occurs to you what you're looking at - this isn't just arrogance, this is cockiness. This is the confidence of someone who has never been humbled, who cannot even conceive of being humbled. This is someone who'd be convinced he'd live forever even if he wasn't a Vampire. This is Lutr of the Harkoni, a young warrior from a hill tribe west of Lahmia, yet to be recruited into Lahmia's navy and many years from even being considered for a position of authority that would get him recruited into Neferatem's coterie.

Or at least, that's the facet that he's operating through. He spoke to you in Low Nehekharan, but he exchanges words with passers-by in languages that did not yet exist when Lutr was young, and he was able to resume your business from the last time you spoke to him easily enough. It's not so simple as a reversion to a previous time - the mind is shifting into different configurations, but all of the same pieces are still there. That explains why he's still able to keep his realm under control.
Ah good to know which Lutr it is. Also Paht has gotten a good understanding of how it works.

[X] Princess Aelsabrim Fallenstar

I just want him to have a history of teaching princesses and them becoming terrifying.

Rule 6: Acceptable Content on SV — Human Rights Aren't Just For Humans
In self defense or when you have to protect another? Probably. As a policy? No. Because they do not understand they are harming others.

Any good legal system realises this distinction when it comes to humans.

Its Human Rights Not Orcs Right. Somebody need A MASSIVE REVELATION about how this really works, preferably with Vulcan instead of more drastic methods ;)

We absolutely have to refuse to continue teaching her, only to then dump on her about how she reminds us of Neferate who we failed.
Right ? :smile::smile:

I mean, does Pahk think he failed her? She is one of the most powerful vampires in the setting and a major force in world politics thousands of years later. Sure it would have been nice if she could do all that without getting mixed up with W'Soran and his lot, but all's well that ends with W'Soran getting eaten by his spawn.

The current Ward of the Citadel of Dusk is, perhaps appropriately for a Tiranocian, on very shaky ground. A minor noble appointed to fob off Tiranoc's claim to wardship (in dispute of the previous Yvressian monopoly over it), her husband died shortly after her arrival, leaving her without her greatest supporter and with a stake in the lucrative beast trade she does not know how to parlay into the riches she had been depending upon.
I hadn't recognized the name until Boney pointed out that she's from 4e Lustria. She's from Eataine not Tiranoc in the book, and she's not in charge of the citadel proper. One of the sources of her woes might surprise most people who haven't read it: an Asrai. But Boney's typically takes 4e as a source of inspiration rather than a hard basis.

Intersting, because the vibe I get is that he doesn't really care that she's a vamprie and doesn't see it as any kind of downside. That is, he thinks Neferata is winning at life and thus hasn't been failed.
The failure is not the whole vampire thing, it's falling in with the wrong crowd (Nagash).
She's doing fine now, but it's a shame about all the things that happened back in Lahmia.

[X] The Salt Lord

I actually like the kidnapping part the most because getting visitors seems kinda hard, but this way we can get a wide cast of interesting characters *cough display pieces quickly xD
