i'd like to add that this should be dependent on any *still here* victims being willing to accept them into the community. one should not be forced to share a table with their abuser, we got that one in the posts twice

I'm not sure this can be a hard rule at this point. It's pretty clear that's not going to go for all of them, and that means we just go right back to the same problem for whoever's left. We can't go round in circles on that forever. Although you could write in that the slate gets wiped clean unless a victim present demands blood. That... probably doesn't have more downsides than every other option.
 
I mean, ultimately every approach here is doomed to fail because all 3 of them are overly simplistic hard rules , any policy of nuance has been eliminated, and the hard line will crack fast.

A system that knows only non-punishment and (quasi)-death sentence is no system at all.

Well, we're not trying to build a system here. I agree, none of these options are workable as a system. None of this can go further than ad hoc. But what we need right now is to sort out ad hoc integration. Yeah, it'll set precedent, but part of that precedent will be 'you talk to people and try to figure out what works as best you can'. Everything ends, everything fails, but Orchid's not got the luxury of eventually right now. Right now what's important is deciding how many of these people are going to be breathing come sunrise, and how to make that number as high as is acceptable.

Ive been reading for a while now and I have to say I love this story so much! Especially the characters and the world, they feel so vibrant and alive.

You're gonna make me blush. Welcome to the party, and I'm glad it's been fun for ya so far! I'll admit I had my doubts when I was getting it going; this is something of a throwback to older days in the format.

It is! And there's trying to honor the spirit of the write-ins, not to mention the work y'all put in to create those write-ins, etc, etc. But on the whole I'm quite happy with how that went. I've often described QMing as the meeting point between running a tabletop game and just writing a damn novel, and sometimes you get an idea that can really...invite people into the roleplaying aspect, as it were.

This is... the only real way it can go here. A sponsor to tie them to the accused, a watcher to help them rise, and both to be sunk if they enable instead. It puts trust here, that those worth a chance are given it by someone, and prevents most of those who cannot at all be trusted from having that branch. From there, its a matter of seeing what happens, and being ready if something breaks.
