The Slave Who Makes Free: An Anakin Skywalker Quest

You whirl around, because you recognize that voice—but what Palpatine would be doing here is utterly beyond you.

Why is the Supreme Chancellor hanging out with criminals and literal garbage? 'Cause he needs a break from the Senate!

You see, in my youth, I was something of a daredevil racer myself.

Chancellor Palpatine is truly a man of the people. Even without the Force, look how far a nobody noble's son with a passion for racing has come! If he can become the most important man in the galaxy, surely Anakin can (and should) follow his example to be successful!

Voting for Haruun Kal for Mace Mothafuckin Windu.

Okay, I didn't want to spoil this but I also don't want people to vote for something based on incorrect assumptions and feel like I pulled the rug out from under them later, so: the first option ("A poisoned world") is not Haruun Kal. As cool as Mace Windu is, I chose to build that option around a story with more direct relevance to Anakin.

Agh! Well, in that case my guess would be Carnelion IV.

Carnelion IV

Carnelion IV, also known simply as Carnelion, was an icy planet located in the galaxy. Generations before the Invasion of Naboo, a war was fought by the people of the planet, which resulted in their demise, and placed a sea of toxic gas over the remains of their civilization. Between the war's...

But poisoned, war-torn worlds appear to be a dime a dozen in the Galaxy Far, Far Away. :V

I'm glad to have such a great mentor as our pal Palpatine.

He chuckles. "I could tell you that I wasn't lying when I said I would keep an eye on your career, or that it was simply a lucky guess. But the real truth is that I simply asked myself where I would have gone as a boy. You see, in my youth, I was something of a daredevil racer myself."
I have to say, when Palatine first appeared I was really thinking he'd be joining the race alongside Anakin. What better form of Evil Mentor Bonding is there than competing in underground death races together?

Ah, yes, Rogue Planet, the one EU book I've actually read. Only this version has touching Annie-Sheev bonding moments, and no Tarkin-Seinar toxic yaoi (yet).
