Purple went into a ZEN state. She reigned in the red mist, calmed down and focused. Meanwhile, Aqua's bearing down on her in burst mode trying to batter down Purple's defenses with furious attacks but Purple's all calm and it just completely washes off of her. Then she shatters Aqua's barrier with 'One Punch'.

Choice Made:
[x] Well, she's transforming, which is great! Though it leaves you with nothing to do while it happens. You can only really hope it's not a whole, minute long affair or something. But, if she's going to stay in one place this entire time. Well. Why not experiment against an immobile target? Your Chrono Core's something based around Time and stuff, and, well, nothings as resilient as Time is… even if you're on a journey to prove it wrong. So… why not use some abstract thinking… and see what happens if you try to shape local time into a bubble around you… can you make like, a shield of time? (Consumes Half of Remaining Chrono Charge) (Each Charge consumed allows you to Negate a hit, even if it would be guaranteed.) (Lasts (Consumed Charge) Turns)) (Unlocks a New Ability) (Inflicts Minor Exhaustion) (Aqua attacks 5 Times, Base 60% Chance to Hit) (Aqua Gains a Parry Charge, Base 20% Chance) (Deal 1d3 Attacks With a Base 45% Chance to hit, dealing a Minor Wound on hit)
-[X] Void core: Lightning Bolt(Twinned)
Aqua Attacks: 34 16 24 93 70
Normal Attacks, Number: 1
Normal Attack: 54
Mental interference for Attack: 16
Red Mist: 98
Red Mist d10: 3
Major Effects:
- Aqua is defeated
- Aqua is Knocked Out
- Gain 2 Lethal Rep for a Brutal Beatdown
- Gain 1 Merciful Rep for a Quick fight
- Red Mist Critical result: Red mist drops to 30
- Fighting While at risk of Red Mist and resisting has dropped Mist Encroachment by 5%
- Gain 2 Mutations for Gae Bolg (I Think that was what we chose no?)
- Gain Time Shield Chrono Core Ability (Name WIP) (Will Be added to CS)
-Minor Effects:
- Imperial Purple is now Known to people
- Your actions receive more scrutiny for better or worse
POV: ???
Watching a Magical girl fight with your bare eyes is an incredibly hard thing to do. It might be easier if the two Magical Girls, or MaGi as the community calls them, are both beginners, but even then there'll definitely be moments when they both blur and appear somewhere else.
But if you're dealing with even moderately powerful magicals, most of them move that fast at the norm. So it makes it stupid hard to so much as catch a glimpse of their fights.
Yet, FLINCH, the livestreaming service all about magical girls and their various duels brought about a change that flung normal streamers out in favor of Magical Girl Streamers.
You got the cute girls. You got the charming personalities. And you even got the BloodSport angle. What wasn't there to love?
At first, the fights were recorded affairs, with the Streamers, both magical girl and otherwise, going over them to comment or analyze.
Then came the addition of VR elements, letting you watch from the Magicals perspective at a slowed down pace. Make you become the Magical in the middle of the fight.
And, while advancement slowed for a while, eventually, Magicals and their weird familiars started tweaking the streams mid fight to be viewable by the layman.
And so here you are, watching Starlight Aqua's newest livestream against some random Magical Girl called Imperial Purple.
Your room is dark, the only light being the glow of your monitor. The room is quiet, the only sound being the whirring of your fans and the sounds of vigorous combat humming through your headset. Matched together with Aqua's voice as she taunts and strikes.
It's a little odd that this Imperial Purple hasn't said anything yet, most of Aqua's opponents seem to get riled up at least a bit with her banter, but where she doesn't say much, she shows it in every graceful, refined action.
Reminds you of the Dark Souls series of bosses. Where you dash about trying to take down this big, imposing enemy that struts up to you with no care whatsoever.
..And then hits you with the most bullshit delayed attack in the history of oneshots.
She reminds you, and a lot of chat, of that. Especially with the silent taunts she pulls off whenever she's got even the slightest moment of leeway.
Look, you might not be one of those armchair fighting experts that have watched thousands of Magical Girl fights or something.
But the complete lack of worry when up against someone as experienced as Starlight Aqua is super, super telling! Hell, you think she winked up at the other magicals she was with as though to tell them this'd be over quick!
The most annoying part though, is that this newbie seems to have the skills to keep up with your favorite blue magical girl. Dodging between attacks, blocking, parrying, seemingly unaffected by most of the attacks that hit her as though she's a Green with every defensive skill she has active all at once.
It's… actually insane, how easily she's keeping up. Isn't this her first time?
You quickly pop a tab, typing in Imperial Purple's name to the Magi-pedia. But the Wiki results come up blank.
Even putting it into google gives you little to nothing at all. There's some rumors here and there. About a gang being taken down by some purple magical girl.
…Oddly there's a reference to a Demon or Devil in the sparknotes summary, but you dismiss that.
How's she avoided all the attention she definitely should've been getting if she was this good?
A knock on your wall pulls your attention, deciphering the code and knocking back to your brother as he watches the stream from his room.
A rapid conversation in knock code as to who's betting on who. The fool thinks this is Purple's match, but you'll stay loyal to Aqua.
She might be a bit grating at times, and saintess forgive the sheer amount of fanservice she loves to indulge in, but… she got you out of a hard time.
Hell, her cheery, peppy streams mixed in with the occasional crude joke or flash of a bitchy persona have helped a heap of people struggling with a whole heap of negativity.
People might look down on the streaming magicals. They might not be as heavy into combat and such.
But to you, she's your star, the thing to guide you forward when stuff gets tough. And despite your fool of a brother's wishy washy opinions. You'll stay strong with your girl!
A cry of power is sent out, one you hope reaches her as she gets sent flying. The camera drone following her as she bounces and skids and then cracks the back of her head into the ground again from tripping over a manhole.
You can almost hear the other millions of users in chat, crying out with you.
You'll give her every ounce of feeble power you can, even as you hear your idiot of a brother do the same to Purple, in Aqua's chat. Traitor.
…He's totally not getting any hot water tonight.
POV: Fia
Twisting time.
It's something you do far too often to be healthy. Honestly, you should probably stop trying to bend the literal concept of time to your whims so often. Who know's whats watching you with thinly veiled interest.
You wouldn't be surprised if you've caught the attention of a literal devil or something… But you should definitely stop doing the whole distorting time thing…
Is what you would say if you were even on the spectrum of normal. At this point, you're well aware that normal is something you very much are not.
Very much cannot be.
…Even if it's all a past, or many past, iterations have wished to be.
A thought wonders just how many iterations it took to give up on the wish of being normal. Of living normally. Of not having the burden of an entire timeline, or many timelines, upon your small, fragile shoulders.
The thought drifts off into the ether as you silently sigh, not dwelling on the thought.
Some deity up above has to know you don't have the energy to spare to entertain it. Maybe its Luminosa or whatever this goddesses name you hear everywhere is.
Maybe it's some devilish entity that loves playing around with the strings of fate.
Maybe it's someone like Elly, that's neither and both in equal measure.
"I resent that"
You smile at the burst of Elly's voice in your head, drifting into your core with a gentle inhale and a scraping of one heel against the ground.
A blue pillar of blazing light in front of you, where Aqua's probably going through some transformation sequence full of flashing lights, lace and camera shots that are definitely not rated for children or are, but only because of the light censoring.
You don't care about that. And instead settle in your silently shifting sundial of a core.
Eyes glancing up to the cracked purple moon that beams down onto it. How long has it been since you've looked up at the thing?
You can't remember. But it feels like a while.
The clock ticks forward soundlessly. No gears or clockwork to drive the hand forward, yet still it continues to move on its endless march.
Time to slow it down. Or at least twist it in some way to suit your purposes.
You need a shield.
Well, you don't NEED one, Babr-e Bayan's perfectly good against basically anything you've suffered so far.
The only one who's broken it being the absolute monster that is Knight.
But you might as well… What is it people say now? Flex? Do people say Flex on people?
You don't understand internet slang… or people for that matter.
But you understand not getting hit. So, you should manipulate all this left over time energy in your core to help you do that.
You don't need anything fancy. You don't need a physical shield in front of you. You just need for stuff that would hit you to not.
So. You reach out for the shadowy hand with one hand. And for the moon with the other.
A deep breath. Shaping the image of a sphere into your mind. Focusing on the image with all you've got.
And then you pull both hands together, or you try at least. Using your hands to display the mental struggle, and channel it through them as you focus on all the energy in your rapidly heating up core.
The thousands upon thousands of multicolour pieces that shine like a constantly shifting rainbow as they spin faster and faster. Glinting off some unknown source of light.
You focus on those pieces. Stretching a hand out towards them in the infinite distance inside or near your soul.
Cores are the shell of the soul. And your cores are already cracked and broken.
So who cares if you yank a piece and use it to center the swirling energy of time around?
Time is a constant line. Yet, it's also a dashed one.
So you grab both, And bend them around the metaphorical yet physical piece of your soul's shell.
A bolt of heat explodes over your front for a moment, and you can FEEL as every tiny triangle in Babr-e Bayan's barrier strains against the burning, star-like energy that radiates from Aqua's golden revolver.
Your focus breaks for a moment, and the temporal energy starts to retreat, slipping from your hands.
But, where your hands lose their grasp… HER hands don't.
Red claws leaking from a shadowy veil ooze out from behind you, grabbing the non-existent yet very much present energy and slicing into your hands to embed the energy inside, trailing black red blood in a trio of scars up both arms.
The blood twists and turns and rotates into a thick cloth of red, that then merges all at once into your weird half cape thing.
And when you blink, your hands are clasped together, with a tiny little bubble of time. That then pops.
And explodes into a surge of raw energy that rocks the buildings around you. Kicking up dust and smoke as you hear someone gasp while another shouts something.
Yet your eyes don't focus on that.
No…
Instead they focus on the Magical who's flat on her back and very much unconscious as red and purple lightning crackles over her form. Scorched with marks from who knows how much void lightning having hit her in the face with no ounce of holding back.
And the blazing, streaking, blindingly bright orange meteor that is Lorica holding your outstretched hand closed with one of her own.
"Hi!"
You blink as you come back to full focus, Lorica's cheery wave contrasted with the grip she has on your hand and the faint crackles of lightning that still zap off your form.
"Flow state good. But lose control bad. Will have to up training session next time."
The amused smile and absolutely blood chilling aura that ripples from Lorica's form shuts down any form of retort other then a very obvious flinch of your body at the words.
"Ah good! Body Remember, even if mind do not! Much progress to make you have! Much fun to be had with best friend around!... Especially with talk for weird demon mist thing."
She waves a hand around at that. Still smiling even as her eyes narrow and peering into you with a half dazed look for a moment.
"Much talk to be had…."
Then she steps back and claps, and you don't miss how it causes a decent chunk of the dust in the air to clear up as her lightshow dies down.
"Important chat need have. But now. Will vanish. Good fight friend! Keep control next time!"
With her sage advice given, you think, maybe, she vanishes.
Literally.
You don't even notice her slip past your Bubble or sight…
She somehow pulls off a Batman, but from directly in front of you. And that annoys you just a bit.
The dust takes a moment to disappear, and when it does, Aqua's drones are the first to dash through, rapidly clicking and flashing as they take pictures…
Wait, huh… the lightshow wasn't a transformation? A glance shows Aqua as normal, with no new pieces of armor or clothing… which confuses you even more…
That's kind of a let down…
The loss of control bit also leaves you tasting something bitter… that's not really happened before… flow state stuff has, but, losing control and fully missing part of a fight no.
Even when the Mist took control, you were cognizant, you think.
Something to do with your Chrono core maybe? More tinkering to do with it then… probably in the presence of a certain elf who's interest you've definitely peaked if you hadn't before.
…Your body shivers a little at the thought of the absolute hell it's going to have to go through with Lorica's training… but it'll be worth it… hopefully.
You let yourself move after a moment. Slipping into a relaxed stance with a heel pressing onto Aqua's head for added effect.
Mainly so that Argent and Azure can see it when they leap on down, but you also know the drone, no drones according to Elly, can see as well.
You expected a harder fight, and you say as such to the duo as they approach. Paper ruffling a bit louder to express your disappointment.
Which is met by a slightly more cheery Argent scratching her head and giggling.
You don't think she's putting it on… But she slips into a thoughtful look as she looks down. Azure looks between her and you, quietly sighing to herself and stepping forward.
"We'll take her back with us, You're not the only one who was expecting her to put up a bigger fight…"
You'd focus more on what she said, but the fact she leans down and whispers a quiet thanks before picking up the knocked out magical takes center stage in your head.
…You try not to look too satisfied and happy with the thanks.
Azure's huff and slightly blushing face tells you you fail.
And that's not something you feel bad about!
She's thanking you now! Look! Character Development!
Or something!
…You should start diary'ing or something to record all this down. Gotta make a prophecy or something to preserve this fateful day in everyone's memory!
There's a quiet growl from between the blues teeth as you keep the overwhelmingly cold but satisfied smile up a moment too long.
And that only has you smile that much more, slipping into a polite bow at your job being done and payment being received.
Cute girls smiling is a suitable payment right? It's totally worth it.
…Though maybe focusing on the images and letting them occupy your brain the entire way home isn't a healthy thing to do.
But too bad. It is. It has. And as you plop onto bed your stress melts away faster then it feels like it's ever done before.

May add more to this at a later point, but for now, I consider this complete~
Sadly, you've got Argent stuck in her head and THINKING about stuff, when she should instead be lavishing you with praise for helping her. But eh, you're happy with her smiling at you, and getting Azure to do the same, so a win, win at the end~
Apologies for the late chapter, but I'm sure you guys'll enjoy it in one way or another.
If I've not got our days wrong, tomorrow should be Alice's sleep over, which'll be a whole bag of fun for you all I'm sureeee~ Small note that it'll act as a Mist reduction as a bonus, cause Blana's being generous, though it does restrict a little of your night actions (May restrict more when we get near that in the actual writing.)
As usual, keep being awesome all you lovely people, questions, theories, random memes' Gimme em all~
I love how Fia has officially been called a Dark Souls boss I think that is the greatest compliment she's ever received the BS Fia pulls out sometimes and frankly I don't even think fia is using only like 40% of her power and that's not even counting the eons of experience she doesn't know she has
My brain is now thinking of Fia as a streamer with a very shaky camera quality that goes from literally the best you have ever seen to looking as this the room was covered in meant that literally eat light
[ x ] Gae Bolg] Mutation Ν: (Scatter) (Lower Gae Bolgs Capacitors, allowing you to fire even faster then before, at the cost of lower projectile speed) (All Dice to hit following this ability are Doubled (IE: Attack rolls twice to hit, instead rolls FOUR times) (If the attack rolls ONCE however, Convert the attack to an Exploding Dice roll) (On hit, Roll a d6, on a 1 or 2, the wound caused is negligible, lowering the tier by 1, on a 3 - 5, the wound hits normally, dealing the normal tier of damage, on a 6, the wound hits a weak spot, doing different things based on the opponent (All positive for you however)) (All Attacks following this gain a + 10 to Parry chances for enemies for 1 Turn)
Is this permanent or toggleable? To me, it looks like a bunch of nerfs for a small chance of unknown stuff, likely to be extra damage or a debuff, and making our attacks roll twice, something that we already have a skill for.
It would be useful against a lot of mooks that we want to kill, but we already have stuff to fill that niche, although this one would be even better if they are mooks that primarily use magic, if the Magical Disruptor works on groups.
Also, decreasing the amount of capacitors does make them charge faster... but you also get a lot less total power from charging 4 capacitors than what you get from 8, assuming they all have the same capacitance.
Here is a graphic about it.
This was the best image i found which didn't get borked.
...Ok, i only tried one more, but the others i found sucked.
Basically, it takes 5 times as long to reach 99% than it does for 63%, and the double of the time it takes to reach 86% that it does for 63%.
Here is the math to show the difference between 8 capacitors at 1 time unit, and 4 capacitors at 2 time units.
8*0.63 = 5.04
4*0.86 = 3.44
Same amount of time/total capacity, but 8 capacitors have 46% more charge.
Doing 6 capts at 2 time units, is marginally better than 8 for 1,
6*0.86 = 5.16
...I got distracted halfway through the math and i forgot the point i was trying to make, i think it was something about reducing capacitance instead of reducing capacitors charging faster, but you are also usually getting more total power from increasing capacitors even if you charge them for half the time.
It is not in the graphic, but 0.5T is 39% charge, and 0.7T is 50% charge, so it is basically always better to increase capacity if you want to get more power as fast as possible.
11*0.39=4.29
10*0.63=6.3
If you go from 11 capacitors for half a time unit, to 10 for one entire time unit, you only get 46% more power despite taking twice as long.
...Adding capacitors doesn't actually always work this way, i did it like this to make it simpler, but i might have oversimplified it, i haven't done calculations about the RC time constant in about 5 years.

I'm honestly really tempted to go against the grain and pick up some stuff for Angel's Halo, some of those mutations actually look really good. Wrath would make Filia an absolute nightmare to fight 1 on 1. But no, let's complete our weapons set first.
[] Plan Angelic Nightmare
-[] Angels Halo
—[] Angels Halo Mutation β: (Wrath) (Disables Self Healing) (While Active, has a 33% Chance to inflict a Minor wound on an enemy any time you get hit by an attack) (If an enemy is weak to an element, this effect inflicts that elements damage type.) (Has a one turn cooldown between activations, but can activate multiple times in a single turn) (Toggleable Mutation)
—[] Angels Halo Mutation E: (Envy) (Designate an enemy, if that Enemy gains a Positive effect this turn, Roll a d10, (Unknown Positive Effect), if that Enemy suffers a Negative Effect this turn, Roll a d10, (Unknown Effect), If you take damage from that enemy this turn, roll a d20 (Unknown Positive Effect), If that enemy takes a Major Wound this turn, roll a d20 (Unknown Effect))
[x] Plan Easy Upgrades
-[x] Gae Bolg
--[x] [Gae Bolg] Mutation β: (Lightweight Materials) (Improves Injury chance for actions using this Weapon by 10) (While In Railgun Form, Injury chance effect is nullified) (Passive)
--[x] [Gae Bolg - Railgun] Mutation ω: (Overwhelming Force) (Railgun Exclusive) (Overload the Gae Bolg's Capacitors to unleash your first attack at a fraction of lightspeed, guaranteeing a hit against all but the fastest of enemies while doing grievous damage) (If the attack is Exploding Dice or Multi Attack, Consider all Rolled Dice a Hit up to a Maximum of Five times, Rolling only to check for Criticals (If used against Superior Magicals or Certain Boss type enemies, add a + 30 to hit instead and roll as normal) (On Critical, Guarantee a Critical Wound is inflicted, regardless of enemy defensive Abilities) (Ignores Armor) (Ignores Death Ward) (Ignores Parry Dice/Effects) (Renders Gae Bolg Unusable for 1d3 Days) (Requires 80% of Gae Bolgs Shots remaining (Rounded Up)) (Considered a Lethal Action) (After being used 5 Times, this Mutation will Update with additional effects/Requirements)
--[x] Gae Bolg ELIGIBLE FOR MOD UPGRADE
Solid upgrades to our Railgun. Negating the injury penalty for using Rail Cannon is very significant. And it's hard to argue against getting access to a much stronger shot (even if using it puts Gae Bolg out of comission for a little while).
[x] Plan Time for Friends. Alice's Sleep Over!
-[x] (Write-In) Let Mum and Dad know about your sleepover with Alice Tonight. Text them if necessary.
-[x] Morning
--[x] Interaction Option (Effects PEP for Magical Girls (33% Base Chance.) (Effects ??? For Non-Magical Girls (25% Chance) (Specifying Actions / Topics improves chances on a Case by Case Basis):
---[x] Alice (See how she's doing. Confirm you'll be there for the sleep over. Doing Cosplay stuff is almost a certainty but ask about what else she may have planned tonight? Is there anything you should bring over?)
-[x] Afternoon
--[x] Read Magical Audio Book (Grendel) 50% chance of adding +10 to training rolls to Grendel's Arm

I'm thinking we should give Argent a little time to think things over now that Aqua's been dealt with for the time being. Maybe her and Azure will talk things out given they have the most history with her... and everything else Argent's dealing with. We've done our part for the time being. Now it's their turn.
In the meantime, we have another friend to see.
Chrono Core training because it also doubles as a social action with Lorica. The training bonus is just icing. Really it's a good segue into going along with her tomorrow to investigate the MaGiCon site with her before things kick into high gear. That seems to me as the last critical action we can take to push events in our favor when everything goes down.
Sadly, there are A LOT of night actions I really wanted to get to. In particularly EXPLORING our Void Core and Recruiting Reaper, but our night actions are effectively booked until past d-day at Magicon.
I noticed that our Audio Books are not in our inventory.

--[x] Babr-e Bayan Mutation C: (Dragonscale) (Once a Week, You may call upon the Spirit of Babr-e Bayan and Challenge him to a Duel. If you Successfully defeat him, this Mutation will Upgrade into a Modifier)
--[x] Babr-e Bayan Mutation α: (Cloak of Resistance) (Once per day, choose an element (Fire, Ice, Wind, Earth) (Attacks of that Element deal reduced damage for the day. Major Wounds become Minor, and Minor wounds of that type heal in one turn) (Passive) --[x] Babr-e Bayan ELIGIBLE FOR MOD UPGRADE
As far as I understand, we have to choose a weapon and two mutations for it, so we're limited to upgrading either Kurtana or Gae Bolg-chan. Of those, the latter seems stronger.

I think with the missing words this is: Hestia Keeper of the Hearth, The Matron has offered you her Minor Boon. (The Home is the Hearth).
Regarding Gae Bolg's modifiers. The Big Bang is the Railgun mutation but more. We won't use it often but it would be really good to have if we run into a situation where we need to kill a boss in 1 round.
The Second Form: Striker lets us use it as a melee weapon. 2d4 or 3d4 extra fire damage is a lot and I don't think the minor wound FIlia takes if they hit is to much of a problem with that kind of damage boost. The 1 in 4 chance to parry with a spent charge is also nice to make Fia even harder to hurt. All together proably makes it really easy to spend all of Gae Bolg's charges very quickly but thats fine as long as we acomplish something with them and we have othern weapons.
Crimson Scream is the simplest. 1d4 minor wounds as long as the target isn't resistant Psychic/Mental effect. My problem with this is that we have no idea how common resistant Psychic/Mental is. Do the monsters even have minds this can attack? They're proably some that are vunerable otherwise Aqua would have a bad time whenever they went rift hunting. Also with Aqua running around resistance to psychic\ mental effects is proably something that all the local magical girls want and if they get it then this does nothing to them.
I think I like The Second Form: Striker the most out of those. Its just such a huge damage increase. Especailly if we surge it to attack more than once. On the other hand the new boon would helps non combat stuff. The passive reduction to red mist would be useful and the enhanced wards on or house could be great. Won't be sueful often but really good to have if we need them. Given how important and the kind of enemies Fia and her family seem to have it proably won't stop anything outright but even slwoing something like that down is really valuable. Also I think Hestia is one of the better greek gods, certainly safer to make a deal with than something like Khorne or whatever Elly is.
Red claws leaking from a shadowy veil ooze out from behind you, grabbing the non-existent yet very much present energy and slicing into your hands to embed the energy inside, trailing black red blood in a trio of scars up both arms.
Hey, the Red Mist does like us after all. We really need to figure out a way to talk with that version of Fillia and give it a hug at some point, but for now I can just sit back and appreciate how cool it helped us look. I imagine from the outside it looked something like Kempachi's skull attack from Blech, only purple and red instead of yellow and a bit more demonic.
"Ah good! Body Remember, even if mind do not! Much progress to make you have! Much fun to be had with best friend around!... Especially with talk for weird demon mist thing."
