"And who is this supposed to be?" Tanner stared at the new face sitting behind the desk. It was a rather handsome looking man with angular features and a look in his eye that looked slightly mischievous at a glance.

"This is Lt. Gato Salem," Captain Wei introduced him, gesturing to the man who then stood up from behind the desk to reach out with a hand in an offer to shake it. "One of our newest additions to the force, he'll mostly be helping out with the paperwork and desk jockey duties."

"Meow-dy, Detective! Huge fan of your work." He grins, and Tanner noticed that his canines were longer and sharper than that of a human's and he was getting a bit of a.. More-than-human vibe from the man before him.

Hesitantly, he took the offered hand and shook it. "Pleased to meet you, Lt. Salem."

"Purrease, call me Salem." His smile grew wider, and his yellow eyes had a glint that made Tanner's supernatural senses go on high alert.

"I'll let you two get acquainted, and Montoya," Tanner turned to look at Captain Wei who paused mid-step on her way out, "Clean your damn desk, it's a fucking mess." She made a face at the massive pile of papers and strewn across his desk, empty food wrappers tucked away in one corner while a smoking cup of coffee sat atop a thin wooden coaster. What? His desk is a mess but he's not risking ruining his paperwork with coffee stains, he does his paperwork with the utmost profession, thank you very much!

Once she had left, Tanner immediately dropped Lt. Salem's hand and crossed his arms, an amused smirk on his face as he looked the man over. "Okay, so who the hell are you, really?"

The man's smile mirrored Tanner's amusement and before the detective's eyes, the illusion that hid his real form faded away and in the man's place was an anthropomorphic black cat wearing NCPD's office blues, complete with heavy kevlar, black tie and even a snug cap fitted on his head, nestled between his huge cat ears. "Ah, Aves told me you were a sharp one." His sharp teeth were bared in a full blown smile, his yellow eyes wrinkled in a smile, a hint of mischief peeking through the professional facade that he wore on his face.

"So you're the new guy-" Tanner began before Salem quickly cut in,

"-that big Daddy Aves was busy 'fathering'?" His smile seemed to grow wider, "That's me~ Lt. Gato Salem, at your service and here to keep the Temple, AKA, your Precinct from going up in flames and keep the faith from ending up in bureaucratic cat-astrophe!." He made a show of looking around the enclosed office that was used as another means of managing the near endless flood of paperwork that needed to be done. "Just in time too, how you guys managed to stay in opurration is an Aves be damned Miraclaw, sorry Dad."

"No offense taken, Lt. Salem. Also, I'm not really your dad." You say, popping into existence before Tanner Montoya who didn't bat an eye at your arrival and merely took a sip of his Divine Coffee. "I willed you into existe-

"Eh, po-tay-to po-tah-toh." He quickly cuts you off with a wave of his hand but gives you a wink as a means of showing he doesn't mean anything rude by it but simply because there's just so much work to be done. "Anyway Detective, I've taken the lipurrty of looking up the dates your contact has given you-"

"How did you-" Tanner blinked in surprise, he hadn't even brought up the topic yet, how did he know?

"I have my ways," He says, handing over several folders over to him, "I've summeowized everything in the files that I found, everything you need to know is in there but let me save you the trouble of reading the whole thing and apurrently, there was a nasty serial killer stalking the streets back then." The black furred feline shuddered as he recalled the information, Tanner was quickly flipping open the folders to absorb the info within and he grimaced at the photographs taken of each victim. They were in various states of horrific mauling and mutilation but they all had bits and pieces of them that had been… bitten off.

Just like Hannah Ray.

"Some chromed up ganger went cannibal cyberpsycho and chewed up some joy toys, the occasional civ, and a few cops before our dear brothers and sisters in blue waxed him."

"Was he an-"

"Animal? Both yes and later down the line, yes." He handed the detective another folder, one of the perp himself, "An Animal by the name of 'Wendigo', used to be some hot shot Exotic fighter befur he went Cyberpsycho. Ate his oppurrnent right in the middle of a fight and went loose in the streets and, well, you know the rest."

Flipping the case file open, Tanner reviewed the detes that were written in the files, 'Wendigo', 'former Animal', 'cyberpsycho', body count: 37, and a big mug shot of the Animal himself, heavily modified thanks to Bio Sculpting and Chrome.

He looked almost completely inhuman! His eyes were deep dark pits that had glowing red optics in the center of those black holes he called his eyelids, his mouth had more rows of sharp teeth than he had ever seen on a person! The flesh around the lower half of his face was gone to show off the shiny metallic rows of teeth that now made up his entire jaw and the word 'Deceased' was stamped all over the photo. Tanner was sure that this was their perp, which begs the question, according to the case file, he was dead.

Yet, Hound was able to identify him at a glance.

Did he fake his death? If so, who was his accomplice, and if he didn't, were they dealing with a literal copycat killer? Fuck.

Det. Tanner Montoya
Davidson Residence, Watson

When dealing with a missing person's case, information was usually obtained by interrogating the family. Normally they would be called to come over to the Precinct, but no one had answered any of their calls, which was quite worrying so Tanner along with Officer Lycan, sought to investigate. According to the detes, they lived on the 3rd floor of the apartment building they just arrived in and oddly enough, the whole place was completely deserted, there wasn't a soul on the streets.

That was enough to set off alarm bells, an empty street in the middle of the day in Night City never meant good news and both officers had their iron out and safeties off.

The Apartment building was eerily silent as they entered, nothing looked out of place, save for what looked to be deep gouges in the walls and floors and from the looks of it? They were about two to three inches deep and mostly came in sets of four. Kind of like claw marks.

"What the fuck made this?" Lycan couldn't help but ask, his eyes glued to the claw-like marks in the concrete walls and from the looks of them? They were fresh.

"No idea, but be ready for anything." The Davidsons lived in one of the lower end areas of Watson so there wasn't much point for the landlord to put any bells and whistles to spruce up the place, lights flickered, doors to unusable rooms were barred by trash of overturned vending machines, it was a wonder how this place was still considered livable and as they went up to the third more, they found more claw-like marks in the walls and floor and as they reached the second floor, they had found their first body.

At first glance, Tanner quickly identified the body, slumped against the wall. White man, or at least he thinks he's white, the head was completely gone and judging by the enormous splatter of blood and gore on the wall several feet above it, he can figure out why. There were five deep holes in the wall around the splatter, holes that were remarkably clean and judging by the way the gore dribbled down the wall, it looked as if something was around the man's head before it was turned into a fine paste.

Oh great, another week of not eating Eezybeef for Tanner Montoya, two more and he gets a free pie!

"Dispatch, we have a confirmed body. Send reinforcements." Tanner spoke into his radio, his eyes glowing as he made the call.

Lycan went ahead, his gun aimed at whatever may come in front of him. They went up the stairs once more, the claw-marks now stained with blood, lead to one of the apartments on the third floor. The Davidson residence.

Shit.

They smelled the coppery scent of blood moments before they reached the door. It was wrenched open by sheer force, the metal stood no match against whatever chrome their perp had installed and just beyond it, another body, lying on the floor with a gaping hole in his chest, a look of shock and horror frozen on his face.

"That's Lyle Davidson, the missing victim's father." Lycan helpfully supplied, grimacing at the state of the body.

"Nothing we can do for him now, secure the area, make sure whoever did this isn't still here." Tanner ordered, and the two cautiously stepped into the apartment. It didn't look like much on the outside but it was surprisingly larger on the inside and Tanner's detective skills kicked in as he began carefully scanning his surroundings.

Living room, somewhat filthy, used wrappers and a can of Nicola left on the table, lying in a puddle. Spilled. Coffee table turned over, fallen lamp. Someone ran in a panic. Bullet holes on the walls, shot at the perp in self-defense most likely. More blood and claw marks on the walls and floors, all leading to a room with its door lying in torn metal pieces.

"We should call in the Banana Boys, no 'ganic can rip metal like that, gotta be a cyberpsycho."
"We'll waste time waiting for them, we need to check on the rest of the family." He shared a look with Lycan who nodded, moving his finger over the trigger, ready to shoot any perceived threats that may come out.

Carefully they approached and as the contents of the room became visible, it took all of Tanner's willpower to not let out a curse. The room was completely trashed, there were claw marks and blood all over the place. The furniture had been utterly destroyed, remnants of a bed lay in a heap on one side of the room, a dresser, looked as if it caved in on itself on the other and in the middle of it all was a pile of bodies lying in a bloody mutilated mess twitching as a large hulking figure on all fours crouched over it, teeth noisily chewing the flesh off the bodies.

Lycan had no such restraint and uttered a disgusted and horrified 'What the fuck-!?' which caught its attention.

It's head snapped up and Tanner could see glowing red eyes glaring right at him, skin stretched tight around his skull making him look gaunt but what really drew his attention were the rows upon rows of sharp teeth, stained with blood as a long tongue messily licked at the bloody metal bits caught between its teeth.

It was Wendigo. He's alive.

The cannibalistic cyberpsycho slowly stood up to his feet and let out a monstrous roaring shriek that sounded like a screaming deer and slicing metal which made the entire apartment shake!

Lycan did not hesitate and started firing.

It's nice that you agree but remember:

Best remove those Xs

Votes aren't open yet, remember.

I'm thinking we give Lycan some protection and either beef up Montoya's or if we're feeling cocky, take the big gun option for -8 faith.

I think I should use this moment to politely remind everyone that Omakes are open, there's a repeatable Omake that can help restore X amount of faith depending on the Omake made!

Definitely need to grab Lucan and get the fuck out of there before Wendigo tears the two of them in half.

Besides that I'm split between looking for a weak point and smashing a window, the former would give us and advantage of some kind while the latter is boosted by our bonus, plus more Cops on the scene would help us out.

back the F up and get some space.
also start blasting the fool. might not crit or something but at least you be doing some damage.

also get these fools some kind of back up stat

Throw something out the window and run. We have pistols and this guy is at least semi bulletproof so blind firing isn't likely to help, plus fighting Wendogo in close range sounds like a quick trip to the afterlife.

Hit him with divine chains to buy enough time to flee and show something supernatural to Lycan do he'll convert. Plus that leaves us with four so we'll still have options.

@TennoTurian would we be able to use Faith to smite Wendigo? Can we invest more than just 3 or 5 failth in our boys in blue? Maybe double the amount? Theyre going against a super psycho and i dont have much faith (ironic) in their survival without some major upgrade, be they chrome, bioware, nanoware, or faith based.

I got another idea for a future Warrior's design. He'd be a grizzled soldier wearing bits and pieces of soldier's uniforms from across time. Either over the course of world history or just American. I had the idea of including a bronze breastplate but it'd be eclectic enough just having bits and pieces from old US uniforms from the Revolutionary War to the Gulf War. But with the appearance of cyber enhancements to justify any supernatural abilities he'd have. I say "appearance" because as a divine construct he'd be born with them.

His name? "Captain Sam Flagg". Sam for Uncle Sam and Flagg for the cartoonist who drew the most famous image thereof. And to continue with the idea that our servants interact with mortals in disguise.

Thar is entirely possible. The cost of miracles and the like vary from how flashy, how many people it affects and how strong the effects are
