This Mighty Scourge of War: A Reconstruction-Era Quest

[X] Plan: Coorperative Balancing

[X] Plan: Railroads, but give businesses immigration to prevent revolt
-[X] Expand the labor pool by loosening restrictions on immigration.
-[X]Strengthen trade ties with Latin America to compensate for the loss of trade with Europe.
-[X] Begin nationalization of major railroads.

Either of these works, but we can't do railroads AND cooperatives. Either would be a huge win for workers, and I'm tempted to do cooperatives for the long-term benefits.

Edit: On reflection, I think railroad nationalization can wait

[X] Plan Balanced Recovery
- [X] Expand the labor pool by loosening restrictions on immigration.
- [X] Begin nationalization of major railroads.
- [X] Strengthen trade ties with Latin America to compensate for the loss of trade with Europe.

Hopefully avoids pissing off any one group too much.

[X] Plan: Coorperative Balancing

This is also fine

Seems like the best plan for balancing immediate concerns and long term goals.

Railroad barons must be killed in the crib, otherwise they'll create massive monopolies that'll screw the entirety of the South and might create Lost Cause mythos via agrarian nostalgia.

I don't care what else we do, we must nationalize railroads. Plus it'll help America out in the long run by eliminating the mass of inefficiency that is the modern US Railroad industry.

[X] Plan Co-ops and nationalisation
[x] Plan: Balancing progress and placation

[X] Plan A Radical America
-[X] Begin nationalization of major railroads.
-[X] Expand the labor pool by allowing the hiring of Native American workers.
-[X] Encourage consumer cooperatives and farmers' associations in order to reduce prices.

EDIT:
[X] Plan American Corporatism
-[X] Subsidize key industries directly with greenbacks.
-[X] Begin nationalization of major railroads.
-[X] Encourage consumer cooperatives and farmers' associations in order to reduce prices.

I'm kind of bummed out the British got distracted by the Franco-Prussian War. Oh well, there's always the next crisis,

Well…it looks like we're not at war…yet. UK is concentrating on internal matters for the moment. Denying expanded suffrage is not going to be good for them. Prussia and France are at war over Luxembourg as I suspected (Not sure if Prussia can win if it's just the North German Confederation going against France). That ties down most of the important great powers save for Spain except they're about to have problems in Cuba as the 10 years war starts next year. Kinda sad we didn't see any mention of the Alaska purchase or reactions on the part of the Russians.

Question, why aren't people allowing the Natives to be hired?

It might piss off Tribal Leadership which we don't need at the moment. I think it's something to turn to once we stabilize the economy.

I would love if we actually liberate other countries eventually and actual help Cuba and the Philippines gain independence and not just fall under American rule. A confederation of American states.
