Honestly I'm convinced that Stevens will be more effective in the Senate. Unless we get the president killed. Again. But what are the odds of that?

Pres dying and us getting stuck with a moderate again is my main worry with it. Honestly the vice president system is so clunky.
 
As it happens, currently succession occurs under the Presidential Succession Act of 1792, which only provides for the VP to become acting President for a single year with a special election being held on the next November.
